Facebook

At the moment there is not built in share functionality, though there may be in the future. For now you have to paste the URL to the page you are interested in sharing into facebook manually. Prodego ^talk 00:32, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

Sharebox is a script that reorders your toolbox. It adds new buttons that make it easier to mail, print or share an article on Facebook or another linksharing service. Author-linking biographical articles on German Wikipedia to an article on English Wikipedia

I would like to authorlink the names of two German scholars to their book citations in an article on English Wikipedia. Both scholars have biographical articles on German Wikipedia but not here (at least not yet). Is there any way to set up an authorlink to their respective articles on German Wikipedia? Thanks. Sure. You you can make a link to any language Wikipedia article simply by prefixing the language code for that Wikipedia after a colon. So, any article on the German Wikipedia is linked by [[:de:EXACT NAME OF GERMAN ARTICLE]] and you would pipe the link so that the code is not displayed. For example, to link to the German Wikipedia article on Roger Waters, you would type [[:de:Roger Waters|Roger Waters]].--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:00, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

I get it as far as a wiki link inside the article content, but what about an authorlink inside a citation? For example:

• Pape, Wilhelm (1880). Handwörterbuch der griechischen Sprache (in German). Braunschweig. ISBN 978-1-174-44362-6.

I would like to set this up as | authorlink = Wilhelm Pape | inside the citation but have it target the Wilhelm Pape article in German Wikipedia. Ignocrates (talk) 05:12, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

What am i suppose to do when i am a non tribal member but the mother is?

The tribal law will not give me an attorney because i am not a tribal member but cps will not give me and attorney either because i dont have an open case with them. What can i do about this because they have taken my kids and i can not afford an attorney? Any category that you want to display must have a colon prefixed in the markup. So, if you look at the link Jayon32 used above in edit mode, you will see (emphasis mine): [[:Category:Wikipedia articles needing copy edit]]. What you would have done when you added it without the colon was place your userpage into the category (but in this case you didn't but just created a red link, because you included a period at the end of the name, so it wouldn't have linked properly even with the colon). This is also true for file names (without the prefixed colon the image displays).--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:23, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

I've tried to use the new user feedback feature, but after I write my feedback and try to submit it I get a message that feedback is not being accepted. Hi, while it appears you've been somewhat active in editing that page lately, thank you for stopping and requesting help from other editors. Maybe you noticed our recommendations to editors who have a conflict of interest? I took a look at the page you mentioned and noticed some recent activity that 1) redirects the Lena Abhilash article to Lena (actress), and 2) that removes the information you've requested to be removed. It's fine to rename the article, but I'm confused why you are requesting that your full name and information about your spouse be removed. Are you not married? Is that not your spouse? If you are notable enough to have an article at Wikipedia, then information such as your birth name/married/current name is likely to be in the public record, is verifiable, and may be considered relevant. (See: Madonna, Cher, and magician Teller.) Wikipedia is neither a vanity press, nor a promotional site, so if you are notable enough to warrant the attention of an article, you kind of have to accept the good (notoriety and fame) with the bad (uncomfortable truths), as Wikipedia is not censored. Have you read Your First Article? And have you seen the Article Wizard? However, if you're thinking of creating a page on 'Certified Gangsta Mixtapes', you should also read read WP:Conflict of Interest, and consider what it says quite carefully. AfD Nom Is Missing From AfD Que

I've reformatted the AfD page using "subst:afd2" and added it to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2013 June 5; I think it looks OK now. The instructions are at WP:AFDHOWTO, but they are quite fiddly. It's easier if you do it through the Twinkle tool, so that you can pick "XFD" from a menu, type the reason into a text box, and have the tool make the edits for you. -- John of Reading (talk) 09:38, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

The Beatles Butcher Cover

The Main reason for the Beatles Butcher was that the Beatles were disgusted with the Emi American division Capitol Records, remixing there songs to suit Am Radio. "I Feel Fine" and "She's a Woman" are two prime examples, with a ridiculous amount of reverb. They were also very displeased and angered by the american release of "Help" which contained instrumental tracks which had no part of a Beatles Album. They felt the fans were being ripped off to make more money for Capitol. Concerning the Blackface article

Good day,

There has been recently in the past few weeks a controversy concerning a comedy award show in Quebec. Since then, the blackface Wikipedia page has been edited with a particular bias against Quebec. The edit also contains false information. I had tried to make a change to a less biased entry but my change was rejected as possible vandalism. It isn't clear what article, but you can post your comments to the article's talk page. It is possible that you didn't leave an adequate edit summary, and an edit without an edit summary is sometimes quickly concluded to be vandalism. Robert McClenon (talk) 11:34, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

As that IP has only made one other edit, it's probably safe to assume that they are referring to this edit to the Blackface article. It was reverted by ClueBot, and the edit summary gives a link you can follow to report a false positive. Rojomoke (talk) 12:19, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

Writing own biographical article on user page

Is a user allowed to write their own biographical article on their user page? I just happened to notice that someone is writing her own biographical article, in proper Wikipedia format for a biographical article in article space, on her user page. I am assuming that this is permitted, and that there is no BLP issue because she is her own source, and notability is not required to be an editor. It's a tricky situation because her user page is normally her own, except that it looks like a BLP. There isn't a BLP problem if she is her own source, but it does seem to be contrary to policy. need help

Hi,

I want to create an article about Gilad Efrat, an Israeli artist that I work with. He already has the Hebrew version, here http://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%92%D7%9C%D7%A2%D7%93_%D7%90%D7%A4%D7%A8%D7%AA

and we want it almost exactly the same, in English. Can I send one of Wikipedia's editors his CV, biography and image for him to create?

Since you work for with the artist, you have a strong conflict of interest (WP:COI) and therefore should avoid writing the article. I would suggest that you seek help from a neutral party and more specifically one that can read Hebrew such as those at Wikipedia:WikiProject Hebrew languages. There is no process for creating articles via e-mail. The easiest way to create this one would be to contact one of En Wikipedia's users who speak Hebrew (see Category:User he) and ask them if they would translate the He Wikipedia version for you. From what I can see via a Google translation, there could be problems with such an article. Note that content must based on published material - we don't generally use CV's and the like as sources. I suggest you post to the talk page of the article explaining what is incorrect/false, fails our neutral point of view policy, is unduly weighted and what are the weasel statements you refer to. Before making your unjustified and unexplained claims, please read the sources and find a large number of testimonies in other articles or external sources. The United Nations have established a commission of inquiry on human rights violations and prison camps in the DPRK. Hi, I am not sure how to go about removing the primary source warning at the top of the "Vanessa O'Brien" page that I am working on. Reverse T3

Hello! I have written an encyclopedic article on reverse T3 which should do a very good job of replacing the stub currently present. Its coverage, for comparison, is far more comprehensive than William's Endocrinology, 11th Ed. The paper is well-referenced (some 100 citations) and academically is progressive but fair and balanced. My reviewer likes it a lot! I am no stranger to Wiki but have only once before edited and never overhauled an article. I will, of course, delay this submission until mastering such challenges (for me) as how to enter illustrations from elsewhere in Wiki. However, I would be absolutely delighted to correspond or converse with someone at your end.

• First, I want to be sure I am following proper etiquette in making such a large submission
• Secondarily, it would be lovely if anyone there can take pity on my plight and chose to expedite my learning process!

I fear that "academically .. progressive" sounds as if it may mean "original research", something that is unwelcome in Wikipedia. Even a review article of the length you suggest might be excessive, while the article on T3 has only 14 references. But it would be easier to comment if we could see your article – is your pdf visible on the web anywhere? Maproom (talk) 20:34, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

You should put the article into User:Njmcdaniel/sandbox. There are tools to convert Microsoft Word or pdf documents to the format used in Wikipedia (that is, to a format compatible with our software - MediaWiki) - see WP:EIW#Import, if you want to avoid doing this by hand.

But, to repeat - you absolutely must not include your own analysis, theories, and/or conclusions about the subject. And that includes your own illustrations; any text that refers to those illustrations almost certainly should be deleted. Keep in mind that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a place for people to publish their own works. One good way to see what should be in an article is to take a look at several of Wikipedia's best articles that in the area of biology of medicine.

It's quite possible that what is appropriate for Wikipedia is an article that uses only 10 or 20 percent of what you've written. If so, and if you're willing to reduce your article to what is needed here, then we would very much like for you to share that with the entire world, through an improved Wikipedia article. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 21:51, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

False information on Wikipedia page

You have a page for an online predator, masquerading as a legitimate person. This predator sends potential victims to this false page as a mode of luring them. I see that 70 has made a series of edits to Charles Bane, Jr., which have all been (justly, IMO) reverted as unconstructive or vandalism. 70, if you want to be taken seriously, you could start by explaining on the article's talk page why you regard Mr. Bane as a "predator". It's a horrible article though. After removing two of the online citations (one to a blank blog, one to a keyword search) we are left with two blog posts of the subject's poems and one HuffPost review of the subject's single published work. In view of the total lack of sources for any of the biographical claims made in the article other than the fact that he is a published poet, I intend to reduce this BLP to a stub. - Karenjc 21:01, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

Articles on Soccer Goalkeepers

Hi, I just started a blog and was doing research for it through your site. It was about goalkeepers in soccer and I was looking for information regarding clean sheets kept over a career of several players. However, whoever made these articles still has "goals" as the main stat for keepers. Of course they aren't going to score goals, they should have things like "saves", "clean sheet", etc, but none of this can be found. My real problem is just that nowhere online has any reliable data on this topic and was hoping you guys would. The main complaint is, at the very least, goals should not be the main point of summmary for keepers. Just one example where this is a problem is for Gianluigi Buffon's page where the his appearances by year are followed by his goals for that year. Should be clean sheets kept, not goals. The infobox is made with Template:Infobox football biography. The issue has been discussed at Template talk:Infobox football biography/Archive 2#Goalies and Template talk:Infobox football biography/Archive 4#add "conceded goals" with no resolution.
