Lupton family

Please help. The date for citation number 105 titled "The Late Mr H.D. Middleton" is incorrect. It should be "Yorkshire Evening Post, 24 June, 1933" - NOT 1907.

Dixon, Illinois

How in the world can you have a list of people from Dixon Illinois and not include President Ronald Reagan??? His boyhood home is right there on Peoria Avenue. His statue is right downtown by the river. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.156.219.136 (talk) 00:18, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Reagan was not born in Dixon. He was born in Tampico, Illinois. So he is mentioned in that article. --Majora (talk) 00:30, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

unverifiable death

related to this article...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Gregory_(producer) I'm related to his nephew via marriage...the subject was basically not in contact with anyone in the family...it had been stated in the article that he died December 2015...I asked the nephew who believed this to not be true...I informed an editor involved with the article that he may be alive so it was changed back...the nephew has now informed me that he talked to the subject's attorney in California and he did in fact die in December 2015. But the guy had become a recluse etc and there was not and will not be an obituary published anywhere...it was recently changed to listing his death but then reverted back for not being sourced...it will likely be unsourceable for years or even forever...unless some writer/journalist writes something about 'the night of the hunter' in the future and specifically refers to him having died etc....anyway, what can be done here??68.48.241.158 (talk) 02:08, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Please see Category:Possibly living people and the text at the top. Basically, if someone 90+ years old has no current appearances for at least a decade, we say that the person's living-or-dead status is unknown. Probably the best way for you to help is to look for his appearances in the media or other published documentation, and give us a link (if the source is online) or a print citation to the most recent documentation that you can find. anything written about him in the past would obviously not refer to his death...and I can't imagine anything written about him in the future having any reason to refer to his death..as anything written will be about his association with Charles Laughton and his producing the famous movie 'night of the hunter' and will be speaking to this time period...could put December 2015 (citation needed)?? or forced to perhaps forever leave it as either being alive/death date unknown...??68.48.241.158 (talk) 03:09, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Sorry, that's not what I meant. If you could look for information about him, and tell us when the latest information about him was published, that would work to start the ten-year clock. If the latest publication about his then-current activities were published ten years ago or more, we could put his article into "Possibly living people" immediately; if it were published eight years ago, we could put his article into that category in two years. Since the person with the longest well-documented lifespan died at age 122, this category isn't meant for people born more than approximately 120 years ago; we'd put his article into Category:Year of death missing once 2040 rolls around. it's a weird situation..industry publications would likely list his death but they have no way of knowing/being informed of his death...the guy has been retired from the industry for decades and has been a recluse, apparently...he has been written about in the past, of course, and will continue to be written about in the future regarding his past activities..but these won't have any reason to refer to his death date...anyway, just curious...the guy is indeed dead..but it can't be verified so at some point it will just have to be assumed, I suppose...like when he would have to be 130 years old or something..68.48.241.158 (talk) 03:29, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

There was already a similiar case with another person from film history, child actress Marianne Edwards, where it also took a long time until everyone agreed. For me personally, it's pretty clear that Gregory has died, there are four independent and credible-looking IPs who write that he passed away. Still, there isn't a reliable source. And while Gregory still gave interviews by 2012, he couldn't be reached in 2015 when DesMonies Register wrote an article for his 95th birthday: http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/2015/08/26/finney-night-des-moines-went-hollywood/32312633/ So he apparently became a recluse during his last years. It also shows that newspapers and publishers have a certain kind of interest about Gregory even today, so there is hope that somebody will once pick up his death in a reliable source. Creating

Hi

I would really like to know how to create a biography since it will really help my career take another step forward. I'm a young actor in South Africa and have been on our national television screens for three years now. I believe the next step in helping me become a more self sustainable actor is to get a biography or article started which will help casting directors see my work so far in order to become a self sustaining young South African young actor. Conditions in my country are very tough and this is certainly a great platform to let casting directors see my work.

Please help me.

Wikipedia is always concerned that information in its articles is accurate, according to reliable published sources, especially if it concerns living people; but we discourage people from editing articles about themselves or people or organisations they are closely connected with, and we do not report information which is has not been reliable published somewhere. Wikipedia:User pages only says that you can't make your user talk page a redirect. I'd just ignore it. Or I guess you could leave a polite message on the user's talk page and request that they consider removing the redirect. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 06:21, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Normally this happens because an article is drafted at the userpage and then moved to mainspace; this is different, so I don't understand what's going on, but it's harmless, so I agree that it's best ignored. Nyttend (talk) 12:48, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Images

Would it be within Wikipedia policy and guidelines to email a person requesting an image for an article? It would 100% solve problems with people such as Malcolm Turnbull, whose Wiki image is lopsided, and Bill Shorten, who is not even smiling. These two are prolific figures in Australian politics yet their talk pages reflect ongoing problems. 2nd question - my friend's father is the federal minister for Fremantle, Western Australia. Would me writing an article on him be a breach of Conflict of Interest?

You're welcome to ask them; but please make it clear that what you need is not permission to use the image in Wikipedia (that is not enough), but agreement to license it under a licence such as CC-BY-SA, (which allows anybody to reuse the image for any purpose, including commercial, as long as it is attributed). If they are willing to do so, they (not you) must go through the procedure in Donating copyright materials; but if they do so, you can upload the picture using the upload wizard. --ColinFine (talk) 10:09, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

• Hi JoshMuirWikipedia. Others already answered half of your question; I will just add that any sane communication assistant for a politician will be happy to provide a photograph under pretty much any license (that's free publicity right there).

As for the other half, it is indeed a WP:COI but a very small one (I think). Until and unless someone objects to your edits, I would write pretty much as I would any other article.

COI editing is not forbidden and there are cases (for instance, you) where it is actually beneficial to WP. We need to discourage it to restrict the flow of "look at my company" articles, but if you write about a notable subject in a neutral way, go for it. Just use the template provided at WP:DCOI on the talk page, linking back to the diff of your first post here, to avoid an unpleasant and unnecessary trip to WP:COIN. I created an accout on Wikipedia to enter for the Wiki Loves Nature(WLA) photography contest. I forgot my password. When creating an account, giving the email is optional so I have not given a email, but now I cannot reset my password. In case I WIN WLA, what can I do with it without my account from which I sent the entry.my account is awesomepeople113. Ruslik0, the deadline was till 1st July so I cannot re-upload the images

Inaccurate information on page titled "Joe Eszterhas"

Hello,

I would like to report false information on the page titled "Joe Eszterhas" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Eszterhas

As to the Joe Eszterhas article, I am the editor of the official website for Joe Eszterhas and I am working closely with him. We have been reviewing the information listed on Joe's article. We have found a number of errors along with inconsistencies. There is a paragraph at the top of the page stating that he is in relation to the "Esterhazy" family, which is incorrect.

We would like to have that information removed, considering it is false.

Hello, in this case you have assigned a ref name without attaching that ref name to an actual reference, thus <ref name=XXX>{{reference content}}</ref>. This is done so if you wish to cite the same source multiple times, you only have to put <ref name=XXX/> to produce the citation in subsequent instances. Have a look at the other multiple refs. on that page to see what I mean. If still stuck come back here. Eagleash (talk) 22:12, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
