encyclopedic prose

edit

My first addition was rolled back because it was "Written in essay prose, not encyclopedic prose". I cannot find any description of encyclopedic prose. Can someone point me in the right direction? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Diggerlady (talkcontribs) 00:05, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

See e.g. WP:TONE. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 00:37, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
General advice to existing editors (and you are a new editor) is that when asking a question, it is a good idea to provide a link to the article in question. In this case it was Service-learning. The basic issue is that your edit is enthusiastic about the value of service learning, both for the student and for those for whom the service is provided. Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy can be a little hard for new editors to understand, but your edits were not neutral because they were enthusiastic about the subject. Do you sort of understand something that isn't easy for new editors to understand? Robert McClenon (talk) 14:27, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ref number 1 is wrong. It was added some time ago and has always been incorrect. I am alerting you to it. All the best Thanks ```` — Preceding unsigned comment added by Srbernadette (talkcontribs) 02:19, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The word "help" in the error message is in blue, indicating that it is a wikilink, in this case to Help:CS1 errors#param has ext link which is very clear. --David Biddulph (talk) 06:22, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The error message also made it quite clear what was wrong (url in work parameter). OP really should be able to fix these by now. But I did so anyway. Eagleash (talk) 06:46, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No sense that autoclave is two articles, one hidden, and one not fully describing

edit

It makes little sense that autoclave redirects to only one of the two main subjects, while autoclave (industrial) is relegated to an article very hard to find behind a see also link. The term is much wider than suggested here. At least move autoclave to autoclave (sterilization) and redirect autoclave to the disambiguation page, but honestly, it should be only one article with the two uses made clear. I'm not a wikipedia editor so do as you wish, just my three cents. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.65.153.53 (talk) 03:47, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this help desk is primarily for questions about "how to use or edit Wikipedia". I noticed, you also posted a message at Talk:Autoclave - usually the best place to start a content-related discussion with other interested editors. WP:COMMONNAME and WP:RM#CM (with some process guidance) contain more information about preferred article titles. GermanJoe (talk) 11:04, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Living person category

edit

Category:People who created their own Wikipedia entry has turned out to be a contentious category. It warrants discussion, however, since it fits within the guidelines across the board. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guest11111 (talkcontribs) 14:42, 25 May 2016‎ (UTC)[reply]

You presumably intended to provide a wikilink to the category, rather than put this page into the category, so I have added a colon at the beginning to provide the link. --David Biddulph (talk) 14:46, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
OP has also posted re. this at ANI. Eagleash (talk) 14:48, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both. 14:52, 25 May 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guest11111 (talkcontribs)
(edit conflict) And he used an incorrect title in his question above. The category in question is Category:People who wrote their own Wikipedia entry. --David Biddulph (talk) 14:54, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And included a link (removed) to my talk-page in his response. Eagleash (talk) 15:01, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you all. Does anyone disagree with this category existing? Category:People who wrote their own Wikipedia entry If so, please indicate why. Thank you --Guest11111 (talk —Preceding undated comment added 21:01, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The OP has been blocked. Nothing more to do here. -- The Voidwalker Discuss 22:12, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OWSLA wikipedia page [1] needs to have its logo updated as the profile photo.

The current logo shown has been outdated for at least 3 years. New logo looks like this: http://owsla.com/

Use this photo: http://emblemsbattlefield.com/uploads/posts/2014/9/owsla-records_1.jpg — Preceding unsigned comment added by Miz kp (talkcontribs) 22:56, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  In progress --Majora (talk) 23:31, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Miz kp: Done. For future reference, uploads can either be made at files for upload or in this case the update could have been done by anyone since the image was on Commons --Majora (talk) 23:35, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
