Editing related content

Hi! While viewing an article using a mobile device, three “related article” pages generally show up at the end of the article, I have noted instances where more relevant choices can be presented.

My question is, how can I edit the choice of those picks?

@Northernlights15000: The articles are selected automatically by a search algorithm. You can override it with {{#related:pagename}}. See mw:Extension:RelatedArticles#Usage. PrimeHunter 10:31, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

I don't think I get it. I included this line into the Asher ben Jehiel article {{#related:Jehiel ben Asher}} but the related articles are not populating the change. Can anyone advise me how to install the Cirrus extension (do I need to?), or better still, can I give the suggestion for the "related article" for a page and ask a senior editor to insert it?.--Northernlights15000 (talk) 20:19, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Meghan Markle

Searching the deletion log

Is it possible to search the deletion log by any mechanism other than hitting | older 500) lots and lots of times? I'm curious when last someone deleted something under the portal criteria (aside from my deletion just now, which was a test), but I don't feel like opening tons and tons of 500-entry pages. You can see up to 5000 entries per page by manually changing the limit in the url. PrimeHunter 10:19, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Animazement

I'm unsure what to do in this situation. There is a claim on the Animazement page that states "Note: Animazement will be held Memorial Day weekend at the Raleigh Convention Center through 2018." which is false as it has been debunked by the staff. I've attempted to remove it, stating that the claim was not only disproved by the staff behind the event but the article cited was no longer there, but now they just cite an archive of the article and refuse to have the sentence removed. I've reached out to staff personally and they have stated that this claim holds no validity, yet this person clearly seems to want to keep the claim on the page. What should I do? I don't want to continue edit warring with them, but I don't want there to be misinformation on the page. Snax28 (talk) 07:27, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

There are a number of sources here that suggest it is still going ahead as indicated. Until there is an official announcement by the organisers of cancellation or a change of venue, it seems we can only go with what we have. Eagleash (talk) 07:50, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

I'm on the side saying the note is unnecessary as the staff has stated that the con has no plans of changing the date or location any time soon, so I don't see why there needs to be a mention of a rumor from 2010 that staff has already disproved. Snax28 (talk) 16:10, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Page move, help needed

I wanted to move User:Skr15081997/1st Lok Sabha members to List of members of the 1st Lok Sabha but by mistake created the page User:List of members of the 1st Lok Sabha. Can someone help me and move the page to the correct title? --Skr15081997 (talk) 08:05, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

How does Wikipedia/Wikimedia store its data? Do they use spreadsheets?

Probably not the right place to ask this but can someone please redirect me to the proper place to ask this?

I am interested whether Wikipedia and related projects use spreadsheets to store data

or if they work with spreadsheets for any other purpose.

Hello, Orschiro. WP:VPT is a better place for this sort of question, but I can tell that no, Wikipedia data is stored in a database, not in spreadsheets. I wouldn't be surprised if the Foundation used spreadsheets for some purposes, but the Mediawiki software requires a proper database. --ColinFine (talk) 19:06, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

How to edit to not get removed?

Hello there

First of all I am new in Wikipedia but I have been doing copy editing so I think I'm ok on that. Now I want to create new content in and for Wikipedia. I recently made an article for an organization, called Datec Coating Corporation, but unfortunately it was removed as Wikipedia told me it served as an advertisement, which personally, I disagree as I carefully wrote it to avoid that and took some other articles as examples. I am basically asking for help, if someone could review my article and tell me what needs to be changed as I am still new in this Wikipedia world, or if someone can give me any tips I would really appreciate it. You could try reading up on some of the policies here such as those on WP:verify, WP:CITE, and WP:NEUTRAL. Also this on Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not might help too. Heiro 18:32, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Hello, Sebastian 94. The message on your talk page doesn't mention advertising, but says that the article did "not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Either way, what I suggest you do - what I suggest almost anybody does who wants to create an article - is to create a draft using the article wizard, and then submit it for review. Have you read Your first article?

One more point: among our five million articles, we have many thousands of sub-standard ones. I don't advise taking an article as a model unless you know it is a high quality one, for example because it is a good article or a featured article. --ColinFine (talk) 19:15, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Table modification

Hello,

I need to create a new template about a tournament, but I'm not able to write the table correctly.

The current code is located here:

In particular, I'm not able to:
- remove the first row of "Round one" (in the code it is related to RD2-team02)
- connect the rounds with a correct line

Basically, round one should appear like the qualifying round.

Draft:2018_in_American_music was declined for not enough reliable sources. Just because we are at the end of 2017 does not mean that there is anything yet to be written about for 2018. I wouldn't say there's nothing written yet. The Vinyl Factory notes Nightmares on Wax will Shape the Future this (sic) January. Dude journeyed both inwardly and outwardly all over the world to make this album we haven't heard yet. But yeah, it happens when it happens. I'll add that the draft listed two other albums for the same distant day, one which isn't an album and one that came out last month. Best to let the dust settle on facts like these. Moved the Notes to the wrong place by accident

This concerns the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_named_passenger_trains_of_the_United_States_(A%E2%80%93B). I accidentally moved the Notes to above the 'Notes' header and cannot figure out how to restore the Notes to their proper place. Can you fix it or help me? Sorry and thanks.
