2018 SEC football standings template

Hello, IP editor. I see that Template talk:2018 SEC football standings was deleted earlier today, as it was a talk page dependent on a nonexistent page, so I have asked the admin who processed this deletion to restore the contents as a draft. –FlyingAce^✈hello 01:20, 16 November 2017 (UTC)

Stephen Bachiler

The image is fine where it is. I've removed the {{refimprove}} tag: a minority of statements are still unreferenced, but the overall referencing has been much improved and unless nominated for Good or Featured Article it now appears ample. You're entitled to remove such "maintenance tags" yourself where appropriate, guided by Help:Maintenance template removal, which is linked from every tag: Noyster (talk), 16:42, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Wikitext search

Is it possible to search the original Wikitext of articles? I'm wanting to find articles in the living people category which link to specific articles, such as United Kingdom general election, 1950, but in many cases the links are piped, so a search for incategory:"Living people" "United Kingdom general election, 1950" is not finding them. I could try and check every link coming in to the article in question, but there are more than 1,000 for this article alone, so I'm hoping for an automated method and being able to search the original Wikitext would solve this. Collapsed text not displaying

I've been working on formatting something on a different wiki, and when I collapse a specific text it shows up as {{{1}}}, and I cannot figure out why. You haven't given much detail here, but one thing to check is whether the collapsed text contains an equals sign anywhere, for example, hidden inside a URL. The workaround is to stick 1= in front of the text: {{My collapse template|Some text with an = sign}} won't work, but {{My collapse template|1=Some text with an = sign}} should be OK. -- John of Reading (talk) 08:23, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

 Done Thank you for the suggestion: there's nothing to stop you making such edits yourself – the Sean Bean article is under "pending changes" protection so edits by non-registered users will be reviewed by someone else before they go live, but you can still make the edits, and especially if you learn how to format references your edits will be very welcome: Noyster (talk), 16:20, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Re-assess

I have posted to a couple of relevant Wikiprojects requesting any uninvolved editor to re-asses Mustang District, quite unsuccessfully. It still is assessed as a stub! Where else can I go to have an uninvolved editor to asses it? Aditya^{(talk • contribs)} 15:35, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

I'm not "cool"

Regarding this request at FFU. I... honestly didn't know that online singles had their own cover art, and I really have no idea if one pulled from the iTunes page is in any way authoritative as the official cover art. Anybody "cool" around with any insight? GMG^talk 16:05, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

I looked very quickly at the page section and the 2017 source. It did not seem to match to me; third place has been moved to fifth in the article, fourth to third and an apparent 'oddity' inserted at fourth. TV Show Character Articles

As with any other subject, Justus et peccator, the criterion to decide whether there should be an article on the subject is nothing directly do to with what the subject does, or is, or is known as, but wholly to do with whether there is enough independent reliably published material on the subject to base an article on. If somebody has written an extended article specifically about the character in a reputable newspaper or magazine; or if several in-depth articles about the show contain more than just a sentence or two about the character, that might do it. Wikipedia Wrongful Accusation !

hello , i received a message accusing me of a violation that i had nothing to do with , the accusation was ' that i made an edit to "Ape". and to be sure NO ONE, and i mean no one , has used my devices to make such edits as Wikipedia has falsely accused me of .obviously someone has hacked and used my IP address to , as wiki says " make inappropriate and false edits to APE , i use and was planning on donating to Wikipedia but am retracting that plan until Wikipedia at least takes as much time to resolve this issue born of false accusations as they have to start it in the first place . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chevy1981 (talk • contribs) 20:18, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi, it's possible that you may have a dynamic IP address that means your IP address may well have changed to another user who added the vandalism to that page. Feel free to disregard any messages that are not relevant to yourself. In cases such as this, account creation is encouraged to avoid erroneous messages, which I see you have now done. This should prevent any further messages regarding other user's edits from being posted on your talk page Hope this helps. Kosack (talk) 20:25, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

The same thing happened to me today, and I was puzzled until I realised that I wasn't logged in. Now that you have created an account, the problem can't happen again as long as you log in, and the message will not be associated with you. Dbfirs 20:33, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

English or British

Hello,

On the Dua Lipa article, user SnapSnap keeps reverting my edits: she is a British singer, not an English one (see British nationality law). Can someone other than me replace English by British in the catch phrase? Thanks

This is a long-term thorny issue (with many other artists). Don't get into an edit-war over it. As I understand it, unless she has stated at some point that she considers herself English rather than British, we should go with British as nationality. Eagleash (talk) 22:14, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Sutcliffe Jugend

Hi, I play in a band called Sutcliffe Jugend. In the pictures on your website is a picture of the cassette called White Power and a Nazi symbol. We had nothing to do with that cassette, a track was put on without our permission, back in 1982. This does not represent the band or our political feelings, plus the picture of ripper victims. This is a gross misrepresentation of the band. We have children and do not want them to see this. We play noise/industrial music. We tackle extreme topics, but do not glorify in any way.. we do the opposite if you listen to the words.

Please amend this misrepresentation.

Hello, Paul. We have over five million articles: which are you referring to? There is no image in the article Sutcliffe Jügend (and it hasn't been edited for over a year).

Are you by any chance referring to a photo or text shown to the right of a Google search? Google's Knowledge Graph uses a wide variety of sources. There may be a text paragraph ending with "Wikipedia" to indicate that particular text was copied from Wikipedia. An image and other text before or after the Wikipedia excerpt may be from sources completely unrelated to Wikipedia. We have no control over how Google presents our information, but Google's Knowledge Graph has a "Feedback" link where anyone can mark a field as wrong. The same feedback facility is also provided on Bing and some other search engines. --ColinFine (talk) 23:35, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

A problem with Google Image search and their Knowledge Graph, and it is notoriously hard to get Google to change them, no one knows who to contact. They need to have an ombudsman. The problem appears to be that someone made a mix tape that contains one of their songs and the cover of the mix tape has a swastika on it. --RAN (talk) 05:41, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

Help with possibly advanced text editing

Hi, I would like the place words on top of each other. Take this piece of text:

17 86 CO 80 37 32 56 Read Words KONA 3 6 Read Letters S D

Is it possible to place 17 atop Read, 86 above KONA, CO above 3, 80 above 6, 37 above Read Letters, 32 above S and 56 above D. I could put them in a table, so they are in tabular format, but is there another way to format them.

Hello, Scope creep. You might be able to do something with tabs, but really, that is what tables are designed for. Note that you can customise the layout of tables, so for example the cell boundaries can be hidden. --ColinFine (talk) 23:39, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

@Scope creep: There's three ways you can do it. The first two are tables (see:Help:Table), The third is called LaTex. The code for each is in the collapsed text.
