Is this original research or not?

I was editing Blacks in Liverpool, but before doing so, I was considering adding a link to a Google Street View capture of a street with many Afro-Caribbean-owned stores.

  • In general, an external link is not original research. Also in general, a photograph is considered (at least in Commons) to be reliable. In my opinion, Google Street View is a reliable source: The provenance of those pictures is a lot better documented than the provenance of a typical picture on Commons. Unless you make inferences in the text you write about it, there is no original research here. The "original research" would be the inference that these stores are "Afro-Caribbean-owned". How to change a heading

I have been editing Dorset Green Technology Park (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorset_Green_Technology_Park) to show that it is now called Dorset Innovation Park. But I can't change the title. Is it better to create a new 'Dorset Innovation Park' wiki page and recreate my edits?

Crating a new Wikipedia page about myself/channel

Incorrect info

We are in the process of updating our company's digital presence and we're having some problems with Google pulling in incorrect information from Wikipedia.

Our company, Helix TCS Inc, provides technology, compliance and security services, however when running a Google search for our stock symbol (HLIX), Wikipedia is displaying information for a restaurant company, Spicy Pickle. In order for Google to update our search results, we have to update our company page in Wikipedia.

How might we go about updating our company page so that Google pulls the correct information about our company?

  • That's a new one. We have no control over what Google displays. They pull info from wherever they want to to build that box that they display. We can usually guess where in Wikipedia they pulled the info and why, but I sure can't find the connection in this case. The article Etta Place does not mention a birth place. It only states that she lived in Texas. It does mention several women who might be the basis for Place. It could use better sourcing. MarnetteD|Talk 19:45, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It appears that OP didn't didn't do their research. A google search for Etta Place does list Texas as a birth state, and many people mistakenly assume the information came from Wikipedia. It did not.--S Philbrick(Talk) 20:04, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. The most our article says is:
"According to a memorandum from the Pinkerton Detective Agency, dated July 29, 1902, she was "said ... to be from Texas".
If the OP has any information published in a Reliable Source as to where she actually came from, we (and many historians) would be very grateful for it. Formatting biographies

Does somebody know how to format the type of content that appears on the side of the article in the frame? Like in the celebrities biographies where we can see a photo, caption, and some details below (born, occupation, children,...) Click on the box in Visual Editor and a link to edit its details should appear. Alternatively, you can edit the details in source mode. TeraTIX 23:34, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@HisroyK: I'm not sure what you mean by "format". You can generally only fill out text fields and add images in infoboxes, not change the formatting which is controlled by code in the infobox template. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:50, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi all,

I have been looking around (Inlcuding in the WP:WikiProject Red Link Recovery) for information on how to remove all red links from an article (The article in question 2002 WPA World Nine-ball Championship, was translated from the German Wikipedia; which has red links, and more pool players on), as the ones that have been translated are non-notable. The only thing I've seen is that it may be possible via AWB; but didn't go into details. I answered there, repeated here for those who don't know:
Hi, Lee, why would you want to do that? Remove all, I mean. I translate from German a lot, have the German article in a second window and decide case-by-case like this:
  • If a link is red in German, I remove it (unless I think it may soon be created in English).
  • If a link is blue, I create an ill-link ({{ill}}), and encourage everybody to do the same. It shows that the subject is notable in German (or some other language), it offers a direct link to that other article for those who read the language, and it automatically turns to a normal blue link when created in English. If you want to be extra helpful you don't simply use the German article name but the best name for the English Wikipedia.
