editDoug Wamble
editDo this (lucky you!) guy have two (beautiful, gorgeeeeous) wives: Morgan James and Janna Baty? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.88.134.137 (talk) 12:14, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
- Looks like the two wives were consecutive, not concurrent. I have edited Doug Wamble to clarify the situation: Noyster (talk), 15:34, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
How can I create Wikipedia page
editHello can anyone direct me in the right direction as to what I need to do to get a Wikipedia page published or at least to the proper submission chsnnel — Preceding unsigned comment added by Med1105 (talk • contribs) 15:54, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Med1105: If you're going to write an article about anyone or anything, here's the steps you should follow:
- 1) Gather as many professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources you can find.
- 2) Focus on just the ones that are not dependent upon or affiliated with the subject, but still specifically about the subject and providing in-depth coverage (not passing mentions). If you do not have at least three such sources, the subject is not yet notable and trying to write an article at this point will only fail.
- 3) Summarize those sources from step 2, adding citations at the end of them. You'll want to do this in a program with little/no formatting, like Microsoft Notepad or Notepad++, and not in something like Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Writer.
- 4) Combine overlapping summaries (without arriving at new statements that no individual source supports) where possible, repeating citations as needed.
- 5) Paraphrase the whole thing just to be extra sure you've avoided any copyright violations or plagiarism.
- 6) Use the Article wizard to post this draft and wait for approval.
- 7) Expand the article using sources you put aside in step 2 (but make sure they don't make up more than half the sources for the article, and make sure that affiliated sources don't make up more than half of that).
- Doing something besides those steps typically results in the article not being approved, or even in its deletion. Ian.thomson (talk) 15:57, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
Thank you Ian... Med1105 (talk) 16:00, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
Ian would this be something you could help me with? Med1105 (talk) 16:02, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Med1105, what parts of what Ian described do you need assistance with? Some things, like researching sources, are generally up to the entry's creator, but others we might be able to point you to help for. I see you started a draft, which has been declined for now, but the message declining it has lots of good links with info about what steps to take to improve it. Hope that helps! Temporay Maintance
editI Am sick of this Temporay Maintance when will this end. 68.102.39.189 (talk) 18:37, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
- What temporary maintenance? You seem to succeed in making edits. Dbfirs 10:16, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
Deleted edits
editI probably should know this, but for the edit count on xtools.wmflabs.org, what exactly are "deleted edits?" Are they any edit you've made that's gotten reverted? That doesn't quite seem right though, because there have been many times where my edits have been reverted but the number of deleted edits has stayed the same, and vice versa. I know deleted edits are not the edits in which their content is hidden, cause none of the edits I've made have gotten hidden by an admin, but I have 13 deleted edits.--SkyGazer 512 talk / contributions / subpages 20:22, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
- Deleted edits are edits to deleted articles. {{3x|p}}ery (talk) 20:28, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
- ... or (more generally) deleted "pages". --David Biddulph (talk) 20:29, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks, good to know. What's weird, though, is the fact that for 2 months I had 2 pages I had created that were deleted (both of them were from page moves in which redirects were automatically created) and 6 deleted edits - however, recently I got up to 13 deleted edits but there were still only 2 pages I had created that were deleted.--SkyGazer 512 talk / contributions / subpages 20:34, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
- Your other 7 deleted edits are edits you recently made to articles that have since been deleted. A number were just formatting tweaks to new articles using AWB. Black Kite (talk) 20:41, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, duh, that makes a lot more sense. Thanks for explaining.--SkyGazer 512 talk / contributions / subpages 14:53, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
- Also, do RevDeled edits count as deleted? L293D (☎ • ✎) 22:13, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
