editCitation help
editHello,
Hope you're staying healthy and well.
I've been trying to cite the same book multiple times on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gion_Matsuri
I can't seem to get the multiple citations right and have inadvertently caused several errors (in large red type!) on the page.
I have read several how-to and error pages, including: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Footnotes#Where_to_place_ref_tags https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Cite_errors/Cite_error_ref_numeric_key https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Cite_errors/Cite_error_references_no_text but can't seem to get the hang of it.
Have tried several different approaches and looked at the other citations on the page as guidance, but no luck so far. Can you help?
Thank you! AkasaCatherine (talk) 01:11, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- The problem with your citation was the ref name. The error message said that calling the ref "4" (an integer) was an error. I changed it to ":4", and the error message went away.--Quisqualis (talk) 02:02, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- I just fixed the rest of them. Error message are gone. Cmr08 (talk) 02:49, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Thank you!
delete
editHow do you delete the account? User name and everything?
- @Djonair: You can't. The best you can do is ask for WP:VANISH, but since you have very few edits the better solution is just stop using the account. RudolfRed (talk) 01:59, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Asking for Commons Advice
editThis is a question after the fact from a case that was just submitted to the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard. An editor had a question that appeared to be about the deletion of an image from Commons, which appeared to be due to a copyright issue. I advised the editor that Commons is a separate WMF wiki that is a resource for the language Wikipedias, but is administered separately from the English Wikipedia or any other Wikipedia. I said that they should discuss their concern with the deleting Commons administrator. My question is whether there is any more specific advice that can be given on the English Wikipedia to an editor about seeking advice on Commons. For instance, is there an equivalent to this Help Desk? Robert McClenon (talk) 03:49, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Robert McClenon: Yes, there is [1]] and for copyright issues there is [2] RudolfRed (talk) 04:43, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

GAN
editHi! Is there really no way to speed up waiting time for GAN review? Thanks Nyanardsan (talk) 06:10, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- No, you just have to be patient. Mjroots (talk) 09:10, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Start reviewing articles yourself, then that reduces the backlog so they will get quicker to yours. That should help. - Aussie Article Writer (talk) 10:03, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- In addition, if you review other articles, people tend to be more likely to review yours. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:53, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Does anyone know why 660 Fifth Avenue is showing up in Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors? - Aussie Article Writer (talk) 07:01, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Same with 1271 Avenue of the Americas. - Aussie Article Writer (talk) 07:04, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- As it says on the category, no-target error message are hidden by default (and the scripts recommended there don't seem to show them, either). You can make them display by following the instructions for method 3 at § Displaying error messages. I'm not familiar with the Harv system, so I don't know what to do about it, but something seems to be wrong with the references to Stern, Mellins & Fishman 1995. – Rummskartoffel 10:08, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Nothing is actually wrong. You can add
|ignore-err=yes
to each{{harvnb|Stern|Mellins|Fishman|...}}
per Template:Harvard citation no brackets#Link works but displays a no target error. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:46, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

need help
edithi i am new to wikipedia and i have drafted one article is their anyone who can guide me with it please. --JohanCastell (talk) 20:21, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Courtesy link: Draft:Sheikh Asif @JohanCastell: The sources don't demonstrate notability of the subject. Most of them say the same thing, so in this case, quantity isn't better than quality. See WP:OVERCITE and WP:GNG. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 20:46, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Ok thanks got it but i will edit and wait and add more sources into it. --JohanCastell (talk) 20:49, 2 August 2021 (UTC) User:Timtempleton as I mention before I am new here but I read some basic things before will you please tell me if I publish the draft and add stub tag + orphan ? Because about that draft I have seen many news articles but I don't find them good so please help me With it.
Thanks --JohanCastell (talk) 20:56, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- @JohanCastell: I wish I could be more encouraging, but based on what's there now, there's little chance the article will be approved. Dropping out of school and starting a company isn't by itself enough to satisfy WP:NBLP. Also, please see WP:COI in case you have a relationship with Asif (especially if you are him). TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 21:06, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- @JohanCastell: And so you don't think I'm being hastily dismissive, I also looked up the award he was nominated for, and it looks like he was self nominated. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 21:10, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for your response I actually don't know him! Personally I found one of his article on Facebook and than I read things about him so I thought he must me on wikipedia as he have done a lot of things so is it required to add WP:COI in article.
About award I really don't have much knowledge as I read that in a news article and found pdf file on Wikimedia and yeah I read about the award in 3 4 places as I mention I don't all references. --JohanCastell (talk) 21:15, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
