Is there any way to signal that this non-free file has already been reduced and does not need further automated reduction? theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 05:32, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

@Theleekycauldron: it needed. Wikipedia:Non-free content#Image resolution says the limit is 100.000 Pixels. If you do the maths, the original image is around 230.640 Pixels, and I don't see why one would need a larger image size for this one. since its used in an infobox with a capped width anyway. What is going on at this article?

Luckin Coffee's history[1] looks quite weird. I'm wondering if there's some COI or sockpuppetry going on here. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 07:52, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

@Skarmory: Is there any particular part that is worrying you? It does have 5000 stores, odd, so it would need quite a comprehensive article. Both editors Mattm64 and ICookie work exclusively on the articles, and are true SPA's working together. They are possibly UPE's. The IP popping in and using the same edit summary as ICookie was the first thing that piqued my suspicions, though that could easily just be them logging out and editing accidentally, but ICookie using the same edit summary of "Finishing touches - Doc" at least 14 times seems very weird, and also Mattm64 randomly reappearing after having messages on their talk page from 14 years ago (no contributions, probably deleted considering there's a speedy deletion notice) to make a lot of edits on this article all seem weird. All that in just a day and a half, too. I didn't realize the IP had edited before either ICookie or Mattm64 as well, just saw that when examining the history again. Googlebooks reference generator

Sup all. Does anyone know a) why this is down (and has been for several days), or b) where I should ask as this is almost certainly not the right place? (I don't even know the official name of the tool except "reftag" as it says in the page address, and of course, that's not the same as our WP:Reftag!) Appreciate any help out there. Reftag has been down for a while, cf. Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 193#https://reftag.appspot.com/. The author hasn't edited in a while and nobody else has picked it up, so that isn't going to change, I'm afraid. The VPT thread and the threads linked from there have some alternatives you can try. Hello folks. Pardon the page-stalk. Why not just pop the Google Books URL into the insert citation box in the visual editor. It generates a nifty citation and seems to be alright. Am I missing something / thinking about this wrong? E.g. Ktin (talk) 21:35, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

Donations Are Not Needed

Bridgette Andersen.

I added a ton of new information about deceased child actress and child model Bridgette Andersen that was accurate I might add but someone or something changed it.

1. I added where she was born, Inglewood, CA.

2. Added a picture of her.

3. She overdosed on heroin and alcohol NOT opioids.

4. She died on May 18, 1997 and someone changed it to just "1997." But she overdosed the week of May 12th, and her family took her off life support after she was declared brain dead on the 18th.

It was removed by User:Fourthords because your edits didn't have any citations. Similarly, the image you uploaded was missing a fair use rationale. Use of "fair use" template

I'm an experienced WP editor and want to update the logo currently used in a radio station article. I initially thought to post the logo to the Wikimedia Commons, as I do with other photos/graphics, but based on the Commons help desk's advice, I understand I can use the Non-Free Logo template to post it directly in Wikipedia. Though I looked high and low through various help pages, I can't figure out how or where the template should be used. Thanks. Allreet (talk) 23:33, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

@Allreet Welcome to HelpDesk! If you use Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard it should auto create the NFCC rationale for you. You'll need to manually insert the NFCC rationale, if you want to use the image for a 2nd Wikipedia page, as I have done here File:Amazon Labor Union logo.png. @Shushugah, I used the wizard as you suggested and it was a "snap", easy peasy. And as I said, the examples you provided clarified what was needed. The difficult part was wading through the numerous topics (articles) on uploading, image requirements and the like. Once I felt I had learned enough - and got the point that trying to absorb everything was ridiculous - I gave the wizard a shot. The upside of having done some homework is that I felt comfortable with what I was doing so I was in and out in a matter of minutes. As for feedback, I'm not sure what to suggest off hand. I recently retired after 20 years as a technical writer so I know the difficulty factor when there are voluminous issues to address and then the reality that most people only want to complete a specific task. In the hopes of putting the somewhat painful part of this to good use, I'll mull things over to see what I can suggest. Meanwhile, I appreciate your good work immensely. It got me to the finish line. Wikipedia

Welcome and thank you for your question about donations! To hide the fundraising banners, you can create an account and uncheck Preferences → Banners → Fundraising. The Wikimedia Foundation does not track the identity of IP addresses, so it doesn't know your age, income level or whether you donated in the past.
None of the Wikipedia volunteer editors here who add and improve content in articles receive any financial benefit. We all simply contribute our time because we care about building a great encyclopedia for you and innumerable others around the world to use.
If you cannot afford it, no one wants you to donate. Wikipedia is not at risk of shutting down, and the Wikimedia Foundation, which hosts the Wikipedia platform and is asking for these donations, is richer than ever.
We are led to believe that users who allow cookies are less likely to see these banners on repeat visits (further information is available here), and you are welcome to communicate directly with the donor-relations team by emailing donate@wikimedia.org. If you have a Direct Debit, I think it must be to Wikimedia UK or another of our local affiliates as the Wikimedia Foundation itself does not currently accept Direct Debit.
