editWhy is the HD getting lots of "The time allocated for running scripts has expired." ?
editI am seeing lots of red errors for "The time allocated for running scripts has expired" on this page (Help Desk). What is the cause? Is it the large table in the section "When headers of tables are made sticky (in preferences>gadgets) "wikitable" and "wikitable sortable" behave differently. How to resolve?"? The table is hidden, but I assume it is still processed. Is there a way to hide it so that it won't be processed? Or is that even the problem and something else is causing the script errors? I'm not seeing the errors at WP:THQ and it has lots more threads than the HD usually. RudolfRed (talk) 03:48, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
Errors seem to have subsided. Maybe it was something that was recently archived.Back again RudolfRed (talk) 04:09, 20 April 2022 (UTC)- I very much suspect it is because of those huge tables. I collapsed them, but wondered whether it mightn't be better to remove them and just link to the article they are copied from. ColinFine (talk) 14:31, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- Probably better to link to the article or the diff. Even if the tables are collapsed they still render. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 14:42, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

- I was getting those error messages + another module error message that said "module is low on memory" or something along the similar lines. —CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • C • L) 16:05, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
Gosaikunda and Silu
editRecently I edited Gosaikunda, connecting it to Silu (song) and Silu (film). Both these last articles say Silu is another name for Gosaikunda and they clearly refer to the sacred lake. Another editor reverted my edits, saying "I'm not sure how the two are connected". I know you cannot cite Wikipedia as a source and I have no access to the offline media cited as sources, but is not being sure of something a reason to revert someone elses edit? As a remedy I made a connection in the "See also", but I it's not clear what the connection is this way. Was I wrong for relying on the other articles? --Judithcomm (talk) 12:44, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, Judithcomm. You were bold and made a change; another editor disagreed and reverted your change. This is part of the normal process of achieving consensus: the next step is to discuss the matter with the other editor, and any other editors who are interested in the matter. Please see WP:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle for more information. ColinFine (talk) 14:28, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
Regarding articles lacking sources
editWhy don't we just delete/CSD all unreferenced articles per WP:OR and WP:N? Clearly if an article had no sources then it shouldn't be included in Wikipedia, am I wrong? --The Tips of Apmh 13:13, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- Not having any sources doesn't mean it fails WP:N, as in many cases, sources could be added to demonstrate notability. And WP:OR is a reason to fix an article, not to delete it- although if it's all OR and cannot be fixed, then that would be a reason to delete. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:42, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- @The Tips of Apmh: The basic Wikipedia goal is to have an article for every notable subject, so you are "wrong" in a limited sense. If the subject is not notable, the article should be deleted. If notable, the article should be improved, not deleted. The problem here is that the notability of the subject of an unreferenced article is hard to evaluate. Now that the "draft article" system has been fully operational for awhile, aggressively moving unreferenced articles into draft space makes sense. -Arch dude (talk) 14:11, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- We only delete BLP articles that have no sourcing. The criteria for deletion isn't the same as being well sourced. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:15, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- If an article has no possible sources, then it should be deleted. If sources exist, but are not currently cited in the article, the correct way forward is to improve the article by rewriting it while correctly citing the sources. See WP:NOTCLEANUP for more details. --Jayron32 14:30, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

Request for template editor
editMy account meets all requirements to be a template editor, exept for the password wich is compromised, is there a page to request to be a template editor?, I will change my account's password to a stronger one first. - CafeGurrier66 (talk • contribs) 16:28, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Template editor is the correct place, although it appears to be that you fail the
the editor should have requested and had successfully enacted at least five significant edits to template-protected templates or modules.
criterion. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:41, 20 April 2022 (UTC)- The requesting editor has made multiple ill-advised edits to template space as well as to other administrative pages. They need much more experience and demonstration of good judgement. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:46, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
- They actually fail every requirement for granting other than "has not been blocked". Concur with Jonesey that more experience is needed. Primefac (talk) 07:12, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

- @CafeGurrier66: If you're interested in template, then maybe you should consider joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Templates because that's where you're likely to find other editors interested in templates. That could be a good way to learn more about how templates work and gain the experience you need to eventually be granted "template editor" rights someday. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:45, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

RES/AUTHORITY,
I, THE SOURAV SIL, A READER OF YOUR WEBSITE. FOR KNOWING ANYTHING, IT IS THE BEST PLACE. BUT I SUUGEST YOU TO UPLOAD ARTICLE ABOUT MANY RENOWNED PEOPLE, e.g. MR. PARAMBHATTARAK LAHIRI WHO ACTED AS PROTAGONIST IN BARI THEKE PALIYE.NOT ONLY ME, THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO WANT TO KNOW ABOUT ME. PLEASE UPLOAD THE ARTICLE ABOUT HIM. --103.211.132.110 (talk) 18:31, 20 April 2022 (UTC) |
- It looks like you and others have spammed Wikipedia articles at least 65 times asking the same question [1]] We don't have articles about everyone. Perhaps you could suggest how they meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notableperson? Theroadislong (talk) 18:46, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- @103.211.132.110: Parambhattarak Lahiri, alternately spelled Param Bharak Lahiri, appears to have had a single role in the 1958 film Bari Theke Paliye. Our notability criteria for actors WP:NACTOR requires that there be "significant roles in multiple notable films". There isn't enough material for him with one film - sorry. No amount of asking will change that. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 21:44, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
Is an appeal possible after an UTRS ban and revocation of talk page access?
editWikipedia:UTRS says that UTRS bans are possible. After an UTRS ban, is it possible to appeal? I.hate.spam.mail.here (talk | contributions) 20:48, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- @I.hate.spam.mail.here: Your question is confusing to me. The UTRS is the system for reviewing block requests. I'm not sure what an UTRS ban means, let alone how one would appeal. Are you referring to someone who is banned from using the tool? (That page is confusing, BTW, if any UTRS admins are watching). Maybe this will help? Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks. There are also several admins you can reach out to in Wikipedia:Unblock Ticket Request System#Tool administrators if you are still stuck. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 21:54, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Timtempleton: I was just curious. I don't personally know anyone who's blocked right now. I.hate.spam.mail.here (talk | contributions) 21:55, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- @I.hate.spam.mail.here: UTRS bans are temporary, though long. Should someone acquire one, they will be able to appeal if they stay off the (blocked) site. Obviously, given that a UTRS ban means having failed the appeal process sufficiently to lose Talk Page Access and then irritating the UTRS admins, very strong evidence of a change of character would be required. Most likely though significant positive editing on another language project. Nosebagbear (talk) 22:06, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
