editHelp with Transclusion from a section on New Zealand national football team page to New Zealand national football team records and statistics
editAnother user has tried to use transclusion to take the player records from the NZ football team article and have them appear under the Individual records on NZ football statistics article. They didn't complete it correctly and I can't figure out why it isn't working either. They did do a start and end section using "Player records NZL" has the label. Just to note, there is also a template already called New Zealand national football team too that I'm not sure if that is causing issues with this too? But can someone please help fix. — NZFC(talk)(cont) 00:21, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- @NZFC: Fixed by removing <noinclude>.[1] PrimeHunter (talk) 08:42, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- You are brilliant, hadn't seen that. Thanks :@PrimeHunter:. — NZFC(talk)(cont) 10:14, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

I had added a source to this page Nadia Ali (actress) claiming she was American which was reverted by TylerBurden. Here's the website [2]. I just want to know if there's any misunderstanding here of reverting my good faith edit. Rejoy2003 09:55, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

@Rejoy2003 and TylerBurden: You are both disrupting the help desk. Take this the article's talk page. If you cannot have a civil discussion, then take a wiki break or have one imposed on you. -Arch dude (talk) 14:29, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
Is Malin Gustafsson (ice hockey) and Malin Gustafsson the same person? 佛祖西来 (talk) 11:50, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- @佛祖西来: It would not appear so. One is an ice hockey player and one is a footballer. There is a hatnote at Malin Gustafsson for clarification. However they do share a date of birth; if you have additional information, please edit as appropriate. Eagleash (talk) 12:28, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- The current sources provide too little information to distinguish them. 佛祖西来 (talk) 12:39, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- How so? One is to ice hockey results and the other to football (soccer). Please elaborate. As it happens, it may be that neither passes WP:SPORTCRIT or WP:NOLY. Eagleash (talk) 15:05, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- It is not impossible that a sportsperson could be professionally proficient in two different sports (see, for example, List of English cricket and football players), even to international standard, but one would expect to find some sources that mentioned the fact. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.2300.195} 90.193.131.160 (talk) 10:09, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
- According to this and this they are the same person. Dougal18 (talk) 12:28, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, I will merge the two articles. 佛祖西来 (talk) 16:42, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

editHello,
I am a librarian trying to add documentation of our branches. I would would like to include our website for added provenance and discoverability. As we are a public library service, I do not feel this is conflict with wikipedia's policy, but would like to check before adding this information.
Thanks Peclibrary (talk) 18:24, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Peclibrary: That's contrary to Wikipedia's purpose. Wikipedia isn't the place for "added provenance and discoverability". It's an encyclopedia. See WP:NOT for more things that Wikipedia is not. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:26, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is inherently a place for discoverability... Peclibrary (talk) 18:37, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Peclibrary: No it isn't. Give WP:SOAPBOX a read. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:40, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Blaze, I don't want to argue, but I feel you are confused. In no way is creating pages dedicated to historic libraries a form of soapboxing. Discoverability is the process or enhancement of discovering information, something that Wikipedia is obviously made to do. Peclibrary (talk) 18:44, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Peclibrary Have to agree with Blaze Wolf. Wikipedia is not a place to merely document the existence of something or post a link to a website. This is a place to summarize independent reliable sources. I've posted some information about your username and conflict of interest on your user talk page, please review it. 331dot (talk) 18:50, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Okay then it seems I'm confused. Many public libraries, also Carnegie historic buildings, have pages dedicated to organizations including website links, etc (ie, Toronto Reference Library). Is it just a matter of more citations? Peclibrary (talk) 18:57, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Peclibrary: You are partially right. See the Notability Guidelines as to what exactly is needed for a company or organization (or a public library) to have an article on Wikipedia. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:58, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- See other stuff exists- but that article(not a mere "page") summarizes what independent reliable sources say about that library. 331dot (talk) 19:00, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

- @Peclibrary, where are you intending to add this link? An external link to a notable organization's website can certainly be included in an article on that organization, either in the infobox, an external links section or both; however, your organization's notability has not been established, and it seems that no article currently exists. Please see WP:NOTABILITY for further information about Wikipedia's inclusion criteria. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 18:55, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

- No, that's a different library than the one they were trying to create an article on (check their contribs). 97.113.27.216 (talk) 12:27, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
