Shorten nested div

I've been trying to replicate User talk:ATC in HTML without tables to prevent reply tool from closing the tables. Currently all I have is User talk:Aaron Liu/sandbox. The Menu's div is a lot larger for some reason. Does anyone know how to fix this? Aaron Liu (talk) 15:51, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

@Aaron Liu: Hi there! User talk:ATC has so many sections that a list of contents is automatically displayed on the left sidebar. User talk:Aaron Liu/sandbox had only one section, so no left sidebar was displayed. I took the liberty of adding some test sections, and now the Contents sidebar is displayed. @GoingBatty No, I'm talking about the "Menu" rounded square section at the top with three buttons (Globe, Microphone, Notepad) notice that my sandbox version is significantly larger than User talk:ATC. Aaron Liu (talk) 16:42, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

I previewed in legacy and there's still a difference. Check the spacing between the rounded corners box and the green box. ATC has quite a bit of space but it's almost gone in my sandbox. Aaron Liu (talk) 17:02, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

@Aaron Liu: I see a difference in Vector 2022 - the cellpadding visible on User talk:ATC is not visible on your page. I did notice that User talk:ATC is a table, with the opening at the top and the close after all the sections. Hopefully someone with better knowledge of <div>...</div> can jump in to help. hiding "fixing lint errors" edits from my watchlist

I know this is probably somewhere, but the "fixing lint error" argument has happened so many places, I don't know where the latest correct info is. I grudgingly understand - and do not want to restart the discussion - that these fixes are going to continue regardless. But I was under the impression the powers that be were going to make it so we could easily filter these edits out of our watchlists. I've tried adding the "not #fixed lint errors" tag in my active filters, and I'm still getting User:MalnadachBot and User:Jonesey95 edits in my watchlist. Are they not tagging their edits properly? Is that filter not yet live? Do I need to do something besides include the "not #fixed lint errors" tag in my "active filters" section of my watchlist? Is something about this not supported in monobook? Does God just hate me? Can someone please help a relatively clueless technophobic dinosaur just hide these edits without filtering all AWB or all bot edits out? Either by pointing me to the latest, accurate instructions, or providing them here? Alternately, can someone (User:Writ Keeper? User:Mandarax?) give me some .js or .css magic that just removes all MalnadachBot and Jonesey95 edits from my watchlist, and I'll add new names if other people start making these edits too? See WP:HIDEBOTS for instructions on hiding a specific bot from your watchlist. It appears that you can use that same script to hide edits by specific users (namely Jonesey95, whose edits are almost always very boring). I would be happy to add that tag to my edit summaries if someone can tell me how to do so. FWIW, almost all of my Linter edits include changes that are not possible via bot code, but I am pretty consistent with the content of my edit summaries. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:27, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

I'll try that (the HIDEBOTS option), thanks. Looks like WK and Mandarax are off the hook. I'm still curious about the "filter lint errors" part, though, if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong; it doesn't seem to work, even for the bot. --Floquenbeam (talk) 16:55, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

@Floquenbeam: Tags are not about specific edit summaries. It's a separate feature shown after "Tag:", e.g. in [1] by Legobot. The watchlist feature "not #fixed lint errors" is only about the tag and works for that. MalnadachBot and Jonesey95 don't use the tag so the watchlist feature has no effect on them. They write "Fixed Lint errors" or "Fix Linter errors" in the edit summary but that doesn't matter here. There is no watchlist feature in MediaWiki which can exclude selected edit summaries. I don't know whether human editors like Jonesey95 can set the tag. MalnadachBot could probably be coded to do it for this task (it also has other tasks). It's operated by ಮಲ್ನಾಡಾಚ್ ಕೊಂಕ್ಣೊ. Thanks! I'm going to try the HIDEBOTS option, since it sounds faster. In fact, hiding edits from particular users sounds like a great thing to add to MW. I'll leave a note for ಮಲ್ನಾಡಾಚ್ ಕೊಂಕ್ಣೊ for the future. I can't imagine Jonesey95 being able to intentionally set a tag, so I won't bug them. Thanks again. How to create my companies wikipedia page?

Read Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies), and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. There are multiple reasons why you should not be creating an article on your company, and almost no legitimate grounds to do so. Wikipedia is not a platform providing free publicity. @Lakshya R Jain I'm afraid I can only give you bad news. Your company (indeed, any company) does not get a Wikipedia page: the encyclopaedia is not social media. Wikipedia has some articles about notable companies but such articles are not owned by their subjects and may not contain what the company would wish to see, since the article will be based on what reliable sources have published, including any criticism (see FTX for an example). I would recommend you use your own website for publicity and give up the idea of drafting an article. However, if you wish to try, then use the WP:AfC process after you have made the mandatory paid editing disclosure. See the links for more advice. Mike Turnbull (talk) 18:04, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

Turnbull I can be a grammar stickler for its own sake, but I don't think I am being so in this case if I suggest that it might be more accurate to say that a Wikipedia article about a company MIGHT not contain (as opposed to MAY not contain) what the company would wish to see. It is incredibly unlikely that some Wikipedia article on a company will please that company in every way, down to the last word, it's certainly not forbidden. As a dabbler in grammar, I agree that saying [the article] "may not contain what the company would wish to see" sounds like a prohibition. "Might not contain" is clearer in my opinion. Credible Source

Is IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, or other Internet Movie Databases/Review Sites credible?

It's a bit more complicated than Club On a Sub 20 said. They're right about IMDb, but RSNP says: Rotten Tomatoes is considered generally reliable for its review aggregation and its news articles on film and TV. There is no consensus on whether its blog articles and critic opinion pages are generally reliable for facts. There is consensus that user reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are generally unreliable, as they are self-published sources. Reviewers tracked by Rotten Tomatoes are not automatically reliable for their reviews, while there is no consensus on whether their "Top Critics" are generally reliable. Other sites you'll have to look up at WP:RSNP, or see if they've been discussed at WP:RSN. ColinFine (talk) 19:48, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

How can we change the organization logo that appears on wikipedia page?

@Jkpedderson1971 It is worth reading WP:LOGO, since it depends what type of logo is involved. Wikimedia Commons can host logos which are too simple to have any copyright restriction, while others can only be hosted on English Wikipedia at low resolution. How can I have 2 templates and an image on the same line?

Hi. I am trying to have 2 templates and an image on the same line on my talk page (tutnum, pyramid, wikimood). I have aligned them left, center, and right. Is there a template/script to load the name of the user/IP currently viewing a page?

I want to change User:DarmaniLink/Userboxes/Walls to say I am in (viewing user's name) walls. How would I go about doing this? Is there a way to do this? I checked around for a bit and couldn't find much on this in the templates. I can try making a script for this, but I'm worried about that getting potentially vandalized into something malicious.
