Toronto WikiClub celebrating Wikipedia Day 2025 with cake

The Toronto WikiClub, with support from Wikimedia Canada, will host a meetup event.

• Date: Sunday, 19 January 2025
• Time: From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Location: One Yonge Community Recreation Centre: 24 Freeland Street, Toronto. This is a ~15-minute walk from King subway station on Line 1 Yonge–University. You may view a map or get directions.
  

Please note that the capacity limit of this meeting space is 50. Since people come and go throughout the day, we may need to limit access temporarily if the number of attendees exceeds the room capacity.

The Universal Code of Conduct, Friendly space policy, and Event Ban policy apply to this event.

Proposed agenda / Proposition d'ordre du jour

This event follows previous wikiclub events where the group agreed to host regular events and work together on shared goals. In this event, we want members to tell us what topics they would like presentations on. There will also be opportunities to socialize with other Wiki-editors and get advice on individual Wiki-projects from experienced editors.

• Wikivoyage Asian Month
• A chat with a Nunavut editor and administrator, and a virtual meeting call with readers and editors in Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut
• Wikipedia and AI
• Noting the number of new editors who have signed up, some sort of new editor workshop or Wikipedia basics work should probably be incorporated. Anyone got lesson plans for something like that?
• I have worked up a presentation which I've tentatively titled "Down the Wiki rabbit hole: A weird and wonderful take on Wikipedia's history". Will need someone who is able to connect their laptop to the screen presenter. Risker (talk) 00:30, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

I am always deeply fascinated by the collaborative approach of AI and human critical thinking in every aspect of our life. I believe that this synergy is very important especially in the field of education, healthcare industry and many more. I would love to hear from the experts and contributors from their perspective and experiences. Moreover I would be more interested in discussing how we can effectively leverage AI in our wiki projects, editing wiki articles going forward without compromising its quality, information accuracy, authenticity and transparency.
