Ducks in Reykjavik, good quality but I don't know what specie of ducks it is in the picture and its EV isn't really high.

- These are obviously not ducks, but Seagulls. If the picture was indeed taken in Iceland they are probably European Herring Gulls. Yoenit (talk) 18:38, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- k thanks, added it to the description-- Someone35 (talk) 15:25, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- Saw that you added it to the European Herring Gull article. These are definitely not EHGs - which have pink feet and light grey wings. I'd suggest to you that they are almost certainly Lesser Black-backed Gulls. --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 15:58, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- Added it to that page instead, thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Someone35 (talk • contribs) 16:36, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Very high EV (because it shows clearly what difference in barometric pressure does to clouds) but a low quality (taken from an iPhone).

- As the photographer notes, the image quality issues are too severe to disregard. (Was this image taken from a moving vehicle? I'm trying to figure out the source of blurring in the yellow road markers.) Issues with image sharpness throughout. Conspicuous dust in sky distracts from the 'real' clouds. In order to illustrate cloud formation, it might have been better to include more of the sky in the photo (less than half of the frame is above the horizon). Urginea maritima near Mitzpe Ramon, Israel. Good quality and EV (encyclopedic value) (because there are barely any pictures of that plant in the English Wikipedia) but there is no article for that plant on the English Wikipedia.

- Modern B&W images generally don't get good reception at FP. Image is blurred (just look at the ear). Apple's logo is not PD or CC, so it shouldn't be on Commons. Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:09, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- I know about the B&W but I might be able to make people see my POV. As for the apple logo, it's under CC Apple Logo. I think the problem is the blur. I wonder if that can be fixed. -- The Egyptian Liberal (talk) 11:00, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
- Without commenting on the quality of the image, the logo is fine - it's a pretty clear example of de minimis use which is incidental to the picture. Commons:Category:People using computers in the 2000s has plenty of similar examples, as do the subcategories of Commons:Category:Apple portable computers. - Quite crowded, but considering what it is a picture of that is to be expected. The clouds may be a little much; many FPs don't show clouds. Encyclopedic, quite nice, high quality, good resolution. Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:47, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

- I prefer the caption in 2011 census of India. EV is good but I can't tell what the background is. I suggest cropping the image. Pinetalk 06:58, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
- I chose to keep the background because to me, it made the photo look more natural. The background is actually an iron gate used in Indian government houses. Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 07:31, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

This photo was taken quickly in the heat of a storm chase, but it came out much better than I expected it would. I didn't realize it at the time, but this damage was done by an EF5 tornado, the most violent possible, and there actually used to be two houses on either side of these trees that were just flat out blown away. I'm thinking that it falls just short of FP status, but I'd like to get comments just to see what I can improve for the future. -RunningOnBrains(talk) 21:50, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

- Appears somewhat blurry and grainy. This is most noticeable when looking at the fenceboards on the lower-left side of the picture. Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:18, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
- This would likely be more effective if the focus was solely on the debarked tree. As it is, I have trouble figuring out what I'm looking at and why it's important. Makeemlighter (talk) 01:55, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

- Looks quite nice. Colour balance is good, cropping is nice, and it is dripping with encyclopedic value. However, I have two concerns. First, the image is of a somewhat low resolution. Second, the flag is somewhat blurry. Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:16, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
- Do you think that they can help with the flag problem? As for the image being somewhat in low resolution, I dont think it can be fixed, do you?
- The flag may be fixable, but the resolution... the diagnosis is not good. Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:49, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
- I have asked them to try to fix few issues that you have pointed out. Let's wait and see what will happen. -- The Egyptian Liberal (talk) 14:46, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
- Finemann have fixed a version of the image here. Is that good enough or is there any other problems that I should point out to him? -- The Egyptian Liberal (talk) 01:15, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
- Resolution is still lacking and it seems to be pixelated now. Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:08, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

I think this could be a featured picture because it is of high resolution, shows the subject clearly, shows the sheathe (which our other pictures of kris lack), and is interesting (the blade design, unique handle etc.).

- Note: I am not the best photoshopper in the world, so it may be necessary for another technically inclined editor to remake it from the original. We could also use this version, with an off-white background. Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:17, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
- Seems OK to me. If you don't get any other comments, I'd go ahead with the nomination for Featured Picture. Pinetalk 06:55, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

I believe this may be suitable to be a featured picture as it is of high quality and gives a better understanding of the subject it represents. I respectfully request that this discussion consider the current location of the article as if it were in main space, with a focus on technical aspects.

- Appears to be of decent quality and have good EV. However I personally doubt this would pass at FPC. Photos 'looking down' on the subject rarely have the ideal aesthetics, especially when it has a pretty ordinary looking background like here. If the photographer had have got down on the level of the subject (crouched/kneeled down), rather than standing above her and shooting down, it would have most likely made for something more visually appealing. Sorry. --jjron (talk) 14:03, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. If the lines were removed, would that improve the image? Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:44, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
- Well, yeah, I think it would probably look better, but it would be a pretty big job cos they're pretty prominent. In FPC terms, that would also probably put it in violation of Criterion 8, but strictly in terms of the image's use in articles, it would possibly be an improvement. --jjron (talk) 10:54, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

I really like how this picture came out. I was playing around with different backdrops and surfaces using this bottle just as a stand-in, but it ended up looking pretty professional. I wanted to see what everyone else thought, and perhaps if there's any advice for me? Thanks in advance!

- The resolution is too low to pass in my view, and a less artistic, tighter crop would be desirable. JJ Harrison (talk) 22:06, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- In my opinion this is borderline, primarily because the size just barely passes, and there seems to be some dithering. Pinetalk 06:35, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
- Background is distracting, there are horrible refelctions on the bottle. Lighting overall isn't nice. I wouldnt nominate it. JFitch (talk) 18:33, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

- To be honest back at you, it's an ok "holiday snapshot", but I'm not really feeling that it's featured picture quality. A lack of compositional focus, unsharp at full zoom, and doesn't really illustrate Glastonbury fantastically. Please don't be discouraged, keep taking photos and uploading them, even if they aren't FP quality! Aaadddaaammm (talk) 19:08, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
