Thanking another editor for their editing

Hi, In Hebrew wikipedia there is an option to thank another editor for their recent edit when you look at the history page of an article. Is there something like this here? Thanks Golan's mom 07:31, 26 November 2016

Yes, the "thank" button appears next to individual edits in every page's history tab. FYI, as this was a question about Wikipedia, you coudl have asked at Wikipedia:Help desk, which usually generates answers more quickly. Someguy1221 (talk) 07:33, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

Incidentally, you can only thank registered users. For example, I would like to thank IP user 76.71.5.45 for his assistance in the section above, but the option is not there. Which kind of makes sense as the users often change their IP addresses, but isn't logically consistent with our current ability to warn/block such users. Just to be clear it is the "thank" command that cannot be used. Any editor can thank IPs and IPs can thank other editors by posting the thanks in a normal message on a talk page. MarnetteD|Talk 19:39, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

I hadn't noticed this option before - and have just looked to check it makes sense - which it does - and each edit has a thank link at the end of its history. But what does clicking it actually "do"? -- SGBailey (talk) 11:05, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

[[User:SGBailey It sends a little notification to the user in question, saying "[another user] thanked you for your edit on ‪Wikipedia:Reference desk/Miscellaneous." It's nice. It lets you know someone appreciated your work, without going through the hassle of posting on walls or writing "thanks!" in a thread. All methods are of course fine, but I enjoy both getting and sending "thanks" via the "thank" button :) I have sent you thanks, so you can see what it looks like, and also since it is public you can stalk other users and see how many and what kinds of things they've been thanked for.
