Sabella (company)

Sabella is a well-known company in the (small) field of tidal energy. It is the only 100% French tidal turbine developer. It immersed the first underwater tidal turbine in France in 2008 and will install an industrial scale turbine in end of 2014 which could be the firt grid-connected tidal turbine in France. This article was providing useful information for people interested in the tidal energy sector and especially the french context. Many informations about Sabella from independant sources exist, unfortunately often in French. -Gourlen (talk) 09:52, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

Lucas Browne

I noticed that when I recently created the Lucas Browne article that it was article that had been previously created, and then deleted as at that time, he was a minor Mixed martial artist. However, Lucas Browne has become notable in accordance with WP:NBOX, as he became Commonwealth Heavyweight Boxing Champion on 26 April 2014, i.e. an inter-continental title, with the Commonwealth Boxing Council being affiliated to the World Boxing Council. Don't Let the Music Stop

I just have to let you know that I am not blocked anymore, because I am set free, so I created a new story behind Larry Santos' lost 1977 pop album, "Don't Let the Music Stop" and also I inserted an article of him when he was behind the big sheet music that nobody had before. can you please undelete the article that I already uploaded once for that story? I just have to let you know that I am not blocked anymore like I was back then as long as I read the directions carefully, so I inserted an article about an R&B/soul singer/backing vocalist, named, Ullanda McCullough, which can be used for the story about her second self-titled album. EnerSys

Page was deleted for highly promotional tone in some aspects which could have then been deleted themselves instead of the page. Also it was deleted for no secondary sources but it linked directly to the companies website. What second sources would exist for the company that don't direct to the website? I did not know of any so I assumed it would be acceptable. This could have be rectified without deleting the entire page and by suggesting recommendations instead. All of the edits could have also been reversed to delete the information added could they not? The information was taken from the companies website description which may have led to a promotional tone. This is something that I can rewrite if the page is restored. This was my first edit so I guess I was unsure about some of the qualifications of being a page on Wikipedia but I think the company should be listed on there. -Rcblankl (talk) 18:32, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Caesar Augusta

This was new text on the Roman site that is not dealt with in "Zaragoza" which is already too dispersed to deal adequately with this important site. It will be derived from the Spanish site which has much on this topic -Rjdeadly (talk) 19:35, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Not done Actually the page you mention was a redirect (now deleted), the page I assume you are requesting undeletion for is Caesar Augusta (Zaragoza). That said, there is basically nothing to undelete, it had an Expand tag pointing to the article in the Spanish Wikipedia and two categories. There's no prejudice against creating this article, reading through the es.wiki article it seems it's a valid topic. But that's less than a stub. It's not uncommon to delete or redirect titles to more developed articles. So what I'd recommend would be to use your sandbox for example, or the draft namespace, work on perhaps a translation of the Spanish article, and then move it to Cesaraugusta, which would be the correct title. It's OK if it's a stub, but not just a tag saying "someone else should translate this". §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:48, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

The Wikipedia is not like Facebook, it is an encyclopedia that makes use of external sources to reference its articles. Are you famous? Have you been covered by actual media for things which we can check to see if it was notable enough? If not, then no, there is not reason to have an article on you here. Your time would be better spent contributing to existing articles within topics that are of interest to you. Tarc (talk) 17:08, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Articles must be written in a neutral manner and have sourcing to show that it passes WP:CORP. As far as you thinking we favor large companies, there are multi-million/billion dollar companies that fail notability guidelines quite spectacularly. Also, we are not here to promote anyone- we are here to write about subjects that pass our very strict notability guidelines. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 09:53, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Junior Red Cross,Maharashtra State Branch

The page has not violated any copyright matter of Any Website. The Website puneredcross.org/jyrc is a branch of The Junior Red Cross,Maharashtra State Branch and has full right to use the Article. So the Article shouldnot be deleted. -Cpmalkani (talk) 05:07, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

  •   Not done There are several issues. First is that we cannot accept copyright violations. You can say that you have the right to post it here, but until a ticket is submitted to WP:OTRS, the content is still considered to be a copyright violation. Secondly, taking the content directly from the website also makes the article read as a promotional article for the branch. Even if the Red Cross gives up complete and total rights to everything they wrote on their website as fair use, it will still need to be re-written to meet our standards for neutrality per WP:NPOV. Finally, I didn't see anything to show that this specific branch of the Red Cross is particularly noteworthy. Not every branch of the Red Cross is notable and notability is WP:NOTINHERITED by it being part of the Red Cross. You need to show where this specific branch has received coverage in secondary sources to show notability. Notifications of events or WP:TRIVIAL coverage does not count. At the time this Wikipedia Article was written Glenn was a part time author who was the CEO of a Massachusetts biotechnology company. • On a side note, I'll say that getting published doesn't necessarily mean anything. We would still need coverage in reliable sources that are secondary of the author himself. Blog sources cannot be used to show notability except in extremely rare circumstances, such as it being the official blog of someone/someplace we'd consider to be a RS. For example, an article or review on the official ALA blog would be usable. A standard book blog review would not be usable. WP:PRIMARY sources such as the publisher page or official author website cannot be used, and we also cannot use database listings or social media-esque sites such as Goodreads. The Publishers Weekly article is really the only usable link out of the ones you have posted. The problem is that an author can sell extremely well and be popular, but that does not give or even guarantee notability in and of itself. It might make it more likely that someone will receive coverage, but it is never a guarantee. I've seen people land on the NYT bestselling list, yet still fail notability criteria overall. Please understand that no matter how good your intent was, we cannot accept or restore articles that contained copyvio. There was also a small amount of personal reflection on the poem, which doesn't fit our WP:NPOV and WP:OR guidelines. •   Not done This is awfully promotional in tone. It's not so blatant that it was an immediate "no" from me, but the article as a whole came across as a press release from the company. The further I read, the more I saw that the article would have to be re-written almost entirely to remove all of the weasel words and phrases that peppered every section. Some deleted uploads by User:Crankelwitz

Can you review the below deleted files, they were all uploaded by user User:Crankelwitz. Some of them were deleted as there was confusion as to whether uploader was creator. I take it this OTRS ticket relates to some of his artwork/uploads: PermissionOTRS|id=2012081210001617 as it was added on File:Fugue_for_the_Pepper_Players-2.jpg, and there's also ticket #2009092110050758 which was added on File:Curie_in_the_Kitchen.jpg for instance. It might confirm the identity of the uploader, which based on comments on the uploads and his talk page, I presume is Dave Baldwin. I am eventually looking to move them to Commons.

Files that were deleted - (list compiled from communications on his talk page):

and likely also

  • File:Amanda's Trail.jpg - a note on user's talkpage states: Re: /* File permission problem with File:Amanda's Trail.jpg */ the owner of the copyright, Greg Scott, sent an email message to permissions-en@wikimedia.org on 14 March 2013 stating that he has agreed to release the file under the given license. Crankelwitz (talk) 23:08, 17 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your help. Deadstar (talk) 08:10, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Those two tickets you mention are permissions from David Baldwin, but they don't connect David Baldwin with Crankelwitz. Neither ticket link to any file on Wikipedia, but rather link to Mr. Baldwin's own website. Crankelwitz never explicitly acknowledges that he is David Baldwin on his talk page, although the only reply he posted on his talk page doesn't deny it, either.
I find a total of 4 tickets from Dave Baldwin that don't provide permission for any of the deleted files listed above.
However, for File:Amanda's Trail.jpg I found ticket 2013031510000245 from a Greg Scott notifying that he is the copyright holder and "release it to David Baldwin (Crankelwitz) for use on Wikimedia under a GNU Free Documentation License." That is the only ticket on OTRS that mentions Crankelwitz, and suggests that Dave Baldwin and Crankelwitz are the same. I have restored that image, which had been deleted due to lacking evidence of permission. ~Amatulić (talk) 10:34, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for that. I will leave a message for the user on his talkpage too. Deadstar (talk) 11:42, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Comment: I see that File:Amanda's Trail.jpg is of a modern sculpture, so it can't be copied to Commons unless there's permission from the sculptor too as there is no Freedom of Panorama in the US. Not sure if it can even be kept on en: wiki? Deadstar (talk) 11:45, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
You might want to leave a note for Sfan00 IMG who reviewed the image for copying to Commons. I must admit I'm not up on all the intricacies of copyright rules. It seems to be common sense that a sculpture on public display in a public open space can be freely photographed and no law is necessary to grant such permission. Anyway, according to commons:Commons:Public art and copyrights in the US#Before 1978, the freedom seems to depend on when the statue was put there. ~Amatulić (talk) 18:25, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
From what I gather, the sculpture was placed early 2000s link. I'll mark the image. Thanks very much for your help. Deadstar (talk) 07:07, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
Ah. the OTRS here didn't cover the sculpture :( Thanks. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 08:40, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvation_sect

The sect has been in the news almost every day for the past month. One of the reasons for deletion was hateful content, yet I believe most of the content reflected Korean news reports. Yesterday the sect's compound was raided by 80 prosecution officers backed up by 1,3000 police officers: http://koreajoongangdaily.joins.com/news/article/article.aspx?aid=2989539 The leader of that sect, and owner of the Sewol ferry that sank last month killing hundreds of school children, is now wanted. Police have issued a reward and the leader is believed to be hiding with sect members: http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/nation/2014/05/116_157690.html PeterDaley72 (talk) 09:39, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

  •   Not done and will not be done I'm going to rephrase this since it sounds a little WP:BITE-y. (You can read the previous version here.) Basically what happened here is that the original article authors wrote the article in a manner that was not really very neutral and the sources were not entirely reliable. While they might not have intended it to come across as an attack article, the tone and explicit detail made it easy for me to see where people would see it as an attack page (at worst) or as a page that was so casually written that it read more like a personal news blog entry (at best). The sources did include the Korea Times, but there were a lot of references to a self-published blog source (WP:SPS). Since we can almost never verify any given blog entry and most blogs are written with a specific viewpoint and do not undergo any sort of editorial oversight, blogs should never be used as WP:RS except in very rare circumstances, such as the official blog for the American Library Association. I understand that this is very frustrating, but the article's tone and sourcing made me very uneasy- as it did User:TomStar81 when you asked for userfication. In this instance it would be better to create a new article from scratch and to have people from Wikipedia:WikiProject Religion help you with this, preferably experienced ones since this can be a fairly sensitive subject. I can put the usable sources on your talk page if you wish, but I don't feel comfortable even userfying the article's history anywhere. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 10:14, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for that. You're welcome to email me the usable sources to petedaley@gmail.com PeterDaley72 (talk) 10:26, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

I hate to do this as it quite clearly fails WP:NMUSIC, but   Done - as an Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored on request. Please edit the page to address the issues raised when it was declined, and re-submit it; "Articles for creation" is not for the indefinite hosting of material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. the panda ₯’ 22:02, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

  •   Not done The "article" as written was horrendously promotional, and about a company that has zero chance of meeting our notability requirements for companies. I'm additionally concerned about another key thing: block evasion. The original article was created by someone with obvious COI as they had a matching username. The second editor was blocked as a sockpuppet. I'm truly concerned that you're related to a) either of those two accounts, or b) the company itself. After, I cannot fathom anyone else wanting userfication of an "article" about such a non-notable business. the panda ₯’ 22:10, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

I, Xiaoshan Math, request the undeletion of this article as I intend to do further work on it; the preliminary information provided was going to be modified to suit the true nature of the GRE Biology subject test. Luiz Palhares

Mr. Palhares would like the page restored. We do not know why it was deleted -73.53.177.205 (talk) 10:50, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

  • It says that the main author of the article wanted it deleted, but I can't see where this was actually requested. (WP:G7 is pretty much only used when the primary author requests deletion and there have been no substantial edits to the page from any other editor.) I'm going to ask User:Julia W to weigh in on this, as she was the deleting admin. I'm not overly versed in WP:ATHLETE, but there does seem to be an assertion of notability via him winning competitions on the national level. My first inclination is to restore this and let any interested parties run it through an AfD, but I'll wait for a little more input since like I said- I'm not overly versed in notability guidelines for athletes. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 10:56, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

May I understand the reasoning for the deletion?

The reason was "G7. Author requests deletion" extra text given at deletion includes "not notable and severe lack of independent, reliable sources"
with more detailed criterion that you can confirm at WP:CSD: "If requested in good faith and provided that the only substantial content to the page and to the associated talk page was added by its author."
This kind of reason does not preclude creation by other users, however any new article will still have to comply with the policies. Being not notable would mean that an article should not exist. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:27, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Thank You. As the article on Mr. Palhares was very well written, would it be possible for me to recieve a copy of the of the deleted page such that I may edit it, and resubmit with appropriate independent references? I can create a Wikipedia account if necessary or I can provide my personal email. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.193.216.150 (talk) 12:54, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi,

I am just starting off my Wikipedia authoring and this page was a quick create to see how Wikipedia works. To build that page quickly I just had a copy paste of an excerpt related to my mention in one of the recent books. I will have an appropriate content to land on this page.

Also, on the other hand I'd like to have my page User:gunnalag redirected to Govardhan Gunnala. Please let me know if this is feasible in Wikipedia.

Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles about people. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning people will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject.
