glean (music)

glean is a project which features members of Lolly Pop, The Afghan Whigs, Peter Murphy and Scarlet Fantastic, all of whom have working Wikipedia pages and various press articles. While glean are a newer project, there are also several reviews online, which I'm happy to ref if that will help. THANKS! -Isabella Jouelle (talk) 19:51, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

  Note: The page was speedily-deleted under criterion A7. Pages deleted under that criterion are generally not undeleted because they require complete rewrites to be viable encyclopedia articles or because they violate our biographical or fair-use policies. Notability is not inheritable, so you need to both show and tell (in the article itself) how Glean is notable irrespective of its members. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 19:56, 28 October 2014 (UTC)
@Isabella Jouelle: Your first step is to contact the deleting administrator, Alexf. Articles deleted in accordance with WP:CSD#A7 are ineligible for restoration by request on this page. ~Amatulić (talk) 23:07, 28 October 2014 (UTC)
In case you need it the text content written by you is "glean are a collaborative Ambient Alternative Chamber Rock project with Brooke Aldridge-Astor (former Lolly Pop), Rick McCollum, Emilio China of Peter Murphy, Maggie K. DeMonde pf Scarlet Fantastic and a rotating cast of contributors, musical and otherwise.". It is possible to recreate if you do include a claim of importance, and we also want to see reliable independent references. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 01:21, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

Forum d'Avignon

The article Forum d'Avignon was deleted because my username did not meet Wikipedia's username policy. I have asked for a change, which has been done. I would like to restore the article I updated as the problem with my username is now solved. Thanks -Laure Kaltenbach (talk) 13:54, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

@Laure Kaltenbach:   Not done The article was not deleted because of your username, but because it was too promotional - it read like the Forum telling the world, in great detail, the story it wanted the world to hear. If you wish, I will "userfy" the article for you - move it into a sub-page in your user space where you can work on it. Then you should ask the deleting administrator, user FreeRangeFrog (talk), for permission to re-post it; if he does not agree, you can go to WP:Deletion review.
When you re-write, try to think of yourself not as writing for the forum, but as writing for Wikipedia about the forum, from outside, including only the things a general encyclopedia reader might wish to know, and leaving detail (such as long lists of members of the advisory board and "personalities who participated" and papers published by people associated with the forum) for the Forum's own website, where anyone who wants the detail can access it. Beware, too of "peacock terms" (a special opportunity.. ambitious proposals.. these exclusive studies... ) and generally of seeming to want to "sell" the Forum. JohnCD (talk) 17:13, 28 October 2014 (UTC)
@JohnCD: Many thanks for your reply and pieces of advice. As you suggested, could you please 'userfy' this article so that I can correct it regarding your remarks - rewriting it in a more encyclopaedic and less promotional way and removing the details? Will it appears on my user page then? Best, Laure Kaltenbach (talk) 14:00, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
@Laure Kaltenbach:   Done, it's in a user sub-page at User:Laure Kaltenbach/Forum d'Avignon. JohnCD (talk) 14:10, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

John Hindhaugh

I am John Hindhaugh as per the entry although I did not create the page. The page was deleted despite several citation of articles and other media to suppport the entry. Indeed there are entries within ITV Sport and other sports commenatator wiki pages stating that I have worked as stated on network TV in the UK Europe and America.

I have an IMDB entry for my work on movies and vuideo games; http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3190534/ I also submit the following;

http://archive.dailysportscar.com/subscribers/interviews/johnhindhaugh.htm http://www.needforspeed.com/news/voice-sports-car-racing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TauA4ZASvk8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8saLmbg4UUI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlUQN4K2wo0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dWeboyjqbw http://www.msn.com/en-gb/tv/series/mobil-1-the-grid/cast-crew/AA4gYWv http://flatsixes.com/porsche-motorsports/world-endurance-challenge/video-porsches-919-hybrid-technology-focus/

Given the brief nature of my entry, and the ease that it could have been verified, I am left a little shocked at the ease and speed of the deletion. A simple check on a search engine would have shown the entry to be valid.

I'd be obliged if the original entry could be reinstated

  Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Hindhaugh, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user Randykitty (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. Yunshui  14:59, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

This article was in no way meant to be an advertisement. I would like to know what changes should be made to make it not seem like an advertisement in accordance to Wikipedia standards -JARI12988 (talk) 15:40, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

  Not done. The article may not seem like an advertisement, but it appeared to exist solely for publicity purposes. Also, it contained absolutely no credible claims of significance, and no evidence of significant coverage in multiple independent sources (only trivial mentions and directory listings), therefore it could have easily been deleted in accordance with WP:CSD#A7. Either way, it is ineligible for restoration by request on this page.

  Not done For now. This has been abandoned and deleted twice already, and the likelihood that the subjects are notable to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia is extremely low, given the sources in the article, which are self-generated. So roughly one full year of abandonment, plus doubtful notability. Unless you can provide one or two reliable sources that prove they are minimally notable, I'm inclined to not restore it at this time. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 00:02, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

I'm sincerely sorry. I'm going to just be honest and hope it works out ok for me. I have asked for an undeletion of this article in the past. Although I'm still trying to figure it out, my main purpose for undeletion is to save the entirety of the article (the Wikipedia coding, formatting, etc.) in a Notepad file so I can work on and adjust it in the future. For reasons I don't understand, I can't seem to find the file I had originally saved the first time I requested an undeletion, so, at this point, I'll be starting 100% from scratch if the file is deleted and lost forever. If it's ok, I'd like one more extension so I can save it, work on it at a later/better time, and try to re-submit it in the future.

I understand if you're unwilling (since I've had it undeleted once already). I'm just hoping it's possible for it to be saved one more time. Thanks either way. -Mike Billeter (talk) 13:12, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

  Not done. There is no way something so blatantly promotional would be accepted for publication without a complete rewrite from scratch. References to "central figure of adulation", "pioneer", "rich legacy of artistic vision", "man of many talents", use of the pronoun "we" and so forth is definitely not an article suitable for an encyclopedia. I've never considered anything about iTunes charts (or Amazon or anything else) to be a credible claim of importance, because the data is, by definition, unverifiable. It has the same weight as saying they're popular in their neighborhood. Apple maintains constantly revolving charts for each country it does business in, and does not provide a historical archive (which is the reason it is not considered for WP:NALBUMS or WP:MUSICBIO, but that's another issue). Every other garage band article speedied contains claims about iTunes. The rest of the references were to Soundcloud (another staple of these). That said, I have no problem restoring this to draft, assuming Gorr721 can provide a few references that halfway prove there is some minimal coverage of the subject. Otherwise it's just a waste of time for the AFC reviewers. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 03:43, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

  • I've moved it to Draft:David L Peterson. I have two big concerns: the first is that this was somewhat promotional in tone. It wasn't so promotional that I'd decline it, but it does read somewhat like a staff bio or press release where you try to present the person in as good a light as possible. Statements like "As a recognized international expert on the effects of climate change and variability on ecosystems" set off the WP:PUFFERY alarms with me- try writing it a bit more neutrally. Secondly, the fact that this reads like a staff bio or press release make me concerned that you've copied this from somewhere. If so, please re-write it as quickly as possible in your own words. We cannot accept WP:COPYVIO regardless of the source or if you were given permission to use it because it's still considered to be a copyright violation and in most cases (as in this one) the source is too promotional to make for a neutral article. • I've restored it, but I'll say offhand that this needs editing for tone. It has a fan/promotional-ish tone to it that needs to be removed prior to resubmission. An example is the statement "The group now very mature is writing and working together once again with a new album and new remixes shortly upcoming." At best this is original research on your part because you are putting your own belief/idea into the article. At worst it comes across like it's a press release or personal website. I wish the article to be undeleted as i was unaware about the hyperlinking rules of wikipedia, thus i wish to edit the article to suffice your conditions -Abhijeetthakar (talk) 07:39, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

  •   Not done It was originally userfied to User:Abhijeetthakar, but I've deleted it because of two reasons: the page was a copyright violation of your LinkedIn page and it was so overwhelmingly promotional that it'd need to be completely re-written in order to meet our guidelines for neutrality. User:NawlinWiki very generously moved the page to your userspace so you could work on the issues and all you did was to further post WP:COPYVIO. I'd actually highly recommend that you not write about yourself on Wikipedia because of the conflict of interest (WP:COI) and because a search does not really show how you would pass notability guidelines as a whole. Please understand that while you do seem successful, that in and of itself does not mean that you have notability per Wikipedia's guidelines. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:16, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

Obihai Technology

Disputed speedy deletion, article was properly cited to WP:RS to establish WP:CORP notability and should have been taken to WP:AfD instead of deleted without discussion. -K7L (talk) 06:58, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

@Tokyogirl79: No problem at all, as long as it goes to AFD. I deleted it because most of the article was stuff about what it does, who bought or sold it and other things, none of which made even a minimal claim to importance, much less WP:CORP. Alternatively, it can be restored to draft, and maybe the author can work on it until there is some actual notability beyond routine press coverage. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 08:43, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
  • @K7L: Would you prefer draftspace (meaning it's not in the mainspace) or AfD? I do share in FRF's concern over the sources, so draftspace may be the best place for this. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 09:00, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
  • I'd already cited Forbes, PC World and TechCrunch. In retrospect the page should have just said explicitly "Obihai is notable primarily for making analog telephone adapters which support Google Voice in hardware with standard phones" before the rest of the product info. That seems to be the main point of note in the sources. Nonetheless, the article is (was) not a list of "who sold it" (apparently Walmart, Newegg, Amazon and a few others - at least in the US, I've never seen them here). My concern is that those nominating and re-nominating this for deletion (it was tagged in the first two minutes) are doing so because they believe in good faith that the box itself isn't notable enough in a market already saturated with Cisco and Grandstream baubles, and not merely because I've made a hash out of the attempt to write this up. The WP:CSD criteria provided ("is an advertisement", "makes no claim to notability") are not valid; I have no horse in this race, I've kept this factual and I've cited valid sources to back the claim that Google Voice in hardware is just notable enough to mention. The discussion of the relative importance of one piece of hardware vs. another can go to WP:AfD; if the attack is on Obihai itself (the actual box) and not merely on whether I've made a mess of the writeup, a rewrite is just going to keep getting nominated (with continued invalid use of the 'speedy' tags) regardless of its merits. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Obihai Technology needs to run its course to decide whether the topic itself is valid. I've notified the original nominators. K7L (talk) 14:21, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

  Note: The page was speedily-deleted under criterion G11. Pages deleted under that criterion are generally not undeleted because they require complete rewrites to be viable encyclopedia articles or because they violate our biographical or fair-use policies. It's generally a very bad idea to use other articles as examples unless they're featured articles. Also, we do not allow shared accounts.Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 18:22, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

This page is true.. and the information is correct.and it will be very useful if the page is here it contains the correct information and reference so it should be on wiki -Bachelor sunny (talk) 19:26, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

@Bachelor sunny:   Not done. The Wikipedia:Verifiability policy requires that: "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source" and the Wikipedia:Notability requirement is for references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject"; but not one of the references in your article even mentions Adhityan Varma. (I have not checked the two Facebook references - Facebook is not a reliable source, because anyone can write anything there).
Moreover, when I look for sources: Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL I do not find anything relevant. JohnCD (talk) 20:56, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Creative Luggage

This page is an informative page about an advertising agency. Only facts were presented and the purpose of the page itself was not promotional. Please tell us more about how we can modify the content so the page could remain active. -Doda Maria (talk) 08:08, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

  •   Not done Large portions of the page were fairly promotional to the point where it came across like you had written it to appeal to potential customers. A great example is this paragraph:
"Creative Luggage also provides online strategy and marketing services, in order to get results such as the perfect marketing mix, the optimum design, or the perfect copywriting. These services provided by the agency are constantly changing, in order to adapt to the specific needs of the clients, under the concept of an open-minded online strategy."
This is filled with various promotional buzzwords and is very promotional. A good option would be to avoid describing the services in any great detail. This would require a complete and total re-write to meet neutrality standards. It also doesn't help that this is all fairly liberally lifted from the company's official website, making this a copyright violation since it's so closely paraphrased. Finally, I'm also concerned at the lack of overall coverage I found on the Internet. I can't see where the company itself has received coverage in reliable sources to where they'd pass notability guidelines and the awards on the page are not the type that would give absolute notability, meaning that it'd be kept on that basis alone. I'm not entirely sure that they would be the type that Wikipedia would consider to be notability giving in general, as Wikipedia only considers about 5% of any awards ever in any category to be the type that could give notability. (And this includes every award, from the Heismann Trophy to Academy Awards to the Nobel Prize.) The company is associated with notable brands, but notability is not inherited by having an association with notable persons or brands.
