This template duplicates information found at Template:1904 Fitzroy premiership players and Template:1905 Fitzroy premiership players. Having a sub-list like this should be in an article and not in navbox. Gonnym (talk) 08:41, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Delete and replace with those two templates. I created the "dual premiership" templates many years ago to avoid too much clutter, but it's now not uncommon for a player to have as many as 10 navboxes, so it doesn't really matter. Jevansen (talk)

Unused handball match template. Gonnym (talk) 08:24, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Forgot about this template, but it is needed. Currently {{volleyballbox}} is used (See e.g. 2022 Men's Beach Handball World Championships). {{volleyballbox}} is probably used because like in volleyball, beach handball uses a set system contrary to standard handball and why {{handballbox}} can't be used. However, {tl|volleyballbox}} is also not suitable since you can't indicate penaties received by each time and the topscorer of each team, as is common for handball matches.
Looking at the first match on the page 2022 Men's Beach Handball World Championships, this would be appropriate:
21 June 2022
11:30
Argentina   1–2   United States Court 3, Heraklion
Attendance: 250
Referees: Luciano Cardone, Sebatiano Manuele (ITA)
Nahuel Pérez 14 (23–22, 16–18, 6–7) Cody Dominik, Jason Borchik 14
2×PF Report 2×PF
Ergo, the template is needed, I just need to start converting {{volleyballbox}} into {{beachhandballbox}} on beach handball pages. --Sb008 (talk) 11:49, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you plan on using it, then I can withdraw my nomination. Gonnym (talk) 07:29, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Same as SB008, forgot about that template but should be used. Kante4 (talk) 15:11, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I plan to use it, but will not as long as it's nominated. Don't want to waste time if the template is removed after all and because the message "The template below (Beachhandballbox) is being considered for deletion. See templates for discussion to help reach a consensus" is added to the template as long as it's nominated. --Sb008 (talk) 20:12, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just a single link in this template links to an existing article, and that article is about a non-resident mission. Other links are to redirects. It is unhelpful for navigation and serves no purpose AusLondonder (talk) 08:17, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2016 April 25#Template:Table of contents where an identical template was deleted. In short, this is redundant to simply adding __TOC__ and should be substituted and deleted.

Beyond that TfD, there are other reasons to substitute and delete this template. {{TOC}} exists and points to the separate {{Compact TOC}}. Given that {{ToC}} is barely function these days – it has zero effect on Vector 2022, the default skin – this title is better used as a redirect to the Vector 2022-compatible {{Compact TOC}} as a {{R avoiding double redirect|Template:TOC}}. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 03:56, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep We want to discourage using magic like __TOC__. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 11:03, 9 September 2024 (UTC).[reply]
Delete - I disagree with the argument that using __TOC__ is to be discouraged, because:
  • Unless I'm missing something, there isn't an equivalent for __NOTOC__ (i.e. {{NoToC}} is a red link). If editors get used to using the template form, they still need to understand the magic behaviour switches for the opposite effect.
  • The template is not cross wiki but the magic behaviour switch is. As such, this will be confusing for editors who may try to use the template on another wiki. The magic behaviour switch does not have this problem.
This also similarly applies to the other behaviour switches listed at Help:Magic words § Behavior switches. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 21:43, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep This is one of the most useful templates to allow navigation in categories. Dimadick (talk) 22:59, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Redirect to the same target as {{TOC}} based on the above keep statement: this template shows a Table of Contents for a page, not for categories. As it is easily confused with {{TOC}} and doesn't do anything except mimic the magic word, it should not exist as a separate template. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:02, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Dimadick: I think you are confusing this with {{TOC}} (which has a capital O and is a redirect to {{compact TOC}}). This template is not used in the category namespace. Do you agree with redirecting this template to {{Compact TOC}}? HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 16:44, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
