During 2008, a site known as "(THE)wikiStics" maintained monthly most popular viewed-pages data. The May 2008 report was preserved at Wikipedia:Popular pages, see diff. To create the below report in December 2016, we removed non-article pages and created a Top 50 list. (Go to the original source to see the top 5000 URLs).
You will note that popular websites such as Facebook and Youtube take up many spots on the list. This does not occur as of 2016 on the WP:TOP25, and it may be spamming activities were influencing the high view counts of certain articles during this time.
