⭠ Last week's report

This very Indian week was dominated by articles involving the Tata family, as the death of Ratan Tata led to ten related articles being featured on the list. As the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season continues, three hurricanes find their way onto the list—although one is from 19 years ago.

Rank Article Class Views Image Notes/about
Ratan Tata   5,034,616   Ratan Tata, a Parsi Indian industrialist, philanthropist and former chairman of #16 died last Wednesday, at the age of 86 due to age-related issues.
Lyle and Erik Menendez   2,686,453   Down from the top spot after three weeks are the murderous brothers serving life sentences for killing their parents, chronicled in the Netflix show Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
Tata family   1,656,736   The prestigious family of #1, including his half-brother (#5), his great-grandfather (#10), his fourth cousin thrice removed (#10), his fourth cousin twice removed (#11), his grandfather (#12), and his stepmother (#14). Whew!
Joker: Folie à Deux   1,517,588   Does the description "jukebox musical psychological thriller" seem appealing to you? It certainly wasn't for a large portion of the audience, specially those who liked Joker and just wanted something more straightforward with the Clown Prince of Crime and his lover Harley Quinn, in contrast to director Todd Phillips repeating the "very different and very bad sequel" path that resulted in The Hangover Part III. Thus the box office intakes fell sharply in the second week, dropping to third behind two movies that delivered what was expected (the gorefest at #17, and a very engaging animation), and the worldwide totals of $156 million so far - which is less than the first one made in a single weekend! - makes the prospects of recovering a massive $200 million budget quite slim. At least the DC Comics faithful have been given a better product on streaming with The Penguin, and it's hard to believe next year's Superman will fail as hard as Folie à Deux.
Noel Tata   1,198,976   The half-brother of #1, and his successor as chairman of the Tata Trust.
Hurricane Milton   1,005,478   Less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene caused widespread destruction across the southeastern US, Milton threatened to do the same again. Highly favorable conditions in the Gulf of Mexico such as very warm sea surface temperatures led to its extremely rapid intensification into a Category 5 hurricane, the fifth-most intense recorded in the Atlantic. Thankfully, it downgraded into a weaker but still powerful Category 3 just before it impacted the west coast of Florida, in which six million residents were ordered to evacuate. Milton caused at least 28 deaths across Mexico and the US, and its damage is estimated to be at least USD$30 billion, making it among the top 10 costliest Atlantic hurricanes to affect the US.
George Baldock   931,894   This English-born footballer who used his Greek descent to play for the Hellenes was found dead at just 31 in his pool, just one day before both his son's first birthday and an England-Greece game in Wembley for the UEFA Nations League. The match had both a tribute to him and the Greeks pulling off an upset win, with Vangelis Pavlidis taking out a shirt with Baldock's face to dedicate the victory to him.
Deaths in 2024   927,208   Yesterday I got so old
I felt like I could die...
Sean Combs   830,145   As everyone discusses all the debauchery and crimes committed by this currently incarcerated rapper, Judge Arun Subramanian set the start date of Diddy's trial to May 5.
Jamshedji Tata   785,225   Relatives of #1: his great-grandfather who founded the companies that make the family famous today, his cousin who expanded into many additional industries, and his grandafather, the namesake of the trust he was chairman of.
J. R. D. Tata   723,591
Ratanji Tata   687,379
Vettaiyan   663,988   This Kollywood action drama film starring Rajinikanth (pictured) in his 170th film as lead actor and Amitabh Bachchan in his Tamil debut, along with Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier and others was released last Thursday coinciding with Vijayadashami, to mixed reviews from critics.
Simone Tata   631,665   Back to the Tatas, the Swiss widow of Naval H. Tata and thus mother of #5 and stepmother of #1.
Hurricane Katrina   610,118   Of the 27 named storms in the record-breaking 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, Katrina was the deadliest to hit the US, causing almost 1,400 deaths, particularly in the city of New Orleans. Katrina is also tied with 2017's Hurricane Harvey as the costliest hurricane to impact the US, with damages estimated at USD$125 billion. Naturally, the impact of #6 and #19 made many recall Katrina.
Tata Group   601,979   The reason why this list is going Tata-Tata-ta, Tata-Tata-ta. Founded by #10 in 1868, this conglomerate of companies like Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Air India is present in over 100 countries and worth US$403 billion.
Terrifier 3   577,355   #4 was succeeded at the top of the box office by another murderous clown, and one whose killings are so bloody the movies are released unrated. If that doesn't already make the success of Art the Clown impressive, given Terrifier 3 cost only 1% of Folie à Deux, the $18 million opening alone made it very profitable! And while this here writer isn't sure about watching this in theaters, let's just drop this incredibly catchy tune from the previous one.
Natarajan Chandrasekaran   566,242   In spite of the horror movie splitting the entries, here's the current CEO of #16.
Hurricane Helene   565,429   Before #6, Florida had already been hit by this other Category 4 hurricane, which had previously climbed through Mexico, Honduras, Cuba and the Cayman Islands, and became the deadliest hurricane in the US since #15 with 252 deaths, along with $45 billion in damages that range from the initial landfall devastation to floods and power outages as Helene went further inland.
Adam Brody   520,528   The Netflix romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This brings here its main star, who plays a rabbi courted by the agnostic Kristen Bell.
2024 Haryana Legislative Assembly election   516,951   Back to India with an election, as the Bharatiya Janata Party took 48 of the 90 seats of the Haryana Legislative Assembly. However, the opposing Indian National Congress didn't accept the results, citing election irregularities.
2024 Atlantic hurricane season   498,592   Every year from June to November strong winds form storms and cyclones in the Northern Atlantic. Three major hurricanes appeared so far in 2024, Beryl, #19 and #6. (and let's give a shout out to WP:TROP, a very dedicated bunch that always updates and creates quality articles documenting hurricanes)
Ethel Kennedy   470,929   The human rights advocate, widow of senator Robert F. Kennedy, and mother of the controversial activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. died at 96 after a stroke.
Cyrus Mistry   466,903   One last Tata entry with #16's CEO prior to #18, who was removed after a decision by the board of directors in 2016, tried to take his chair back through the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal, and died in a car crash in 2022.
Elon Musk   460,113   The second wealthiest person in the world joined Donald Trump on stage at a campaign rally last week at Butler, Pennsylvania.
