Wikimedia Foundation

Description

This wikiproject will be about the wikimedia foundation project articles, like the Wikipedia article, and the bios of people who have worked at the foundation before and now, like Jimmy Wales and Sue Gardner. Those are the two main parts to the project.

Scottish Royalty

The Project would be for all Monarchs of the Scotland (in any form) after Kenneth MacAlpin. It may also include Monarchs of the Picts however that would properbly be a task force as there is so little information about them. It would be a Child of WikiProject British Royalty and would take the same role as a WikiProject as WikiProject English Roylalty. The Quill (talk) 20:12, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Oppose

  • While these topics are clearly related from the reader's perspective, it's not obvious to me that the proposed project represents a coherent subject when viewed from the editors' side. The earlier part is adequately covered by Wikipedia:WikiProject Medieval Scotland. While one may quibble over when to end the medieval period, it would make sense for any new project to restrict itself to modern royalty, whether that's from James III, IV or V onwards. Adventures in Odyssey

Description

I have created a WikiProject/workgroup on Adventures in Odyssey, in my userspace here. I do not know if it should be a full wikiproject, or simply a task force, as I don't know what it would be a work group for - Radio is incorrect, as it is not only a radio drama, and Christianity is okay, but too narrow a topic. So I don't know. I will volunteer to coordinate it if needed, as I have done much work to it already. -- American Eagle (talk) 05:03, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Discussion

  • I think a broader Wikiproject is needed here: e.g. on 'Religious broadcasting' or 'Christian broadcasting' more generally. The field appears to suffer from a strong 'can't see the forest for the trees' syndrome, with a large degree of (often unsourced and unencyclopaedic) minutiae, but little in the way of articles on broad topics. Moody Broadcasting Network is a classic example -- almost nothing on that network's history and structure, but a massive list of constituent and affiliate stations. If you wanted to know how this, and other Christian broadcasters fitted together, the best article you can find is Religious broadcasting -- which is short, largely unsourced and has more on the far smaller UK religious broadcasting than on the far larger US market. I would think improvement to that article, followed by subsidiary articles on the more prominent national religious broadcasting markets, followed by strong encyclopaedic content (as opposed to mere lists) on the more prominent individual stations, would be a higher priority than articles on individual programs (which by their nature tend to be ephemeral). One advantage would be that the broader your focus, the higher the probability of finding good scholarly RSes (who are far more likely to write about the subject broadly, than on individual programs). • Agreed. I think that the Christianity project would welcome a work group dealing with Christian broadcasting if there were sufficient interest to create one. John Carter (talk) 20:54, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Theoretical Physics

Description

The quickly growing field of Theoretical Physics deals with the mathematical aspects of the universe. WikiProject Theoretical Physics would therefore be a sisther project of WP:Physics and Wikipedia:WikiProject Math. This WikiProject would maintain the articles that concern its subject. Goals would be:

  • Improvement of current articles.
  • Including more resources and links
  • Clear any Theoretical physics vocabulary definitions (not everyone has a doctorate in the field).
  • Fixing up start class articles (almost all of them).
  • Uploading more images and diagrams to improve the articles' quality of understanding.
  • Creating requested articles that concern Theoretical Physics.

Football in Slovenia

I have an interest to create a WikiProject Football task force on Slovenian football. It would contain The Slovenia national football team, Slovenian footballers and the Slovenian leagues. But I'm afraid that there are not enough people who would work on this theme, therefore I've posted this message for those who want to support me on this theme. If you have any negative comments of this let me know.Janisterzaj (talk) 13:50, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

If you can find some sources, why not? I don't know Slovenian, just as the majority of people in English wikipedia, I think. But I can help if you ask me some details about Slovenian footballers in France, as I am French. Just tell me.--Latouffedisco (talk) 18:26, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Comment - A Manchester United task force was set up approximately 10 months ago, and although there was a fair bit of initial interest and work still gets done, activity on the task force's Wikispace pages has dwindled recently. The reason I bring this up is that I think there is a danger of that happening with this task force too. Sure, it's a noble cause, getting people interested in Slovenian football and all, but do we really need a task force to achieve the same goal? – PeeJay 01:19, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

I want to do a list of foreign players in Slovenia, like the one I did for Serbia, but I didn´t had time to complete it yet. FkpCascais (talk) 22:41, 12 May 2009 (UTC) The "Category:Expatriate footballers in Slovenia" was also underpopulated, so I´ve added players to the list.
