The proposed WikiProject was not created; only one interested editor

Description
editWhilst there are WikiProjects focused on Opera and other musical subjects (there is currently a proposal for A Capella), there is no focused Wikiproject for Choirs in general. This can mean that articles on things like voice types - see for example Counter Tenor are too focused on the Operatic Voice and do not discuss the use of the voice in choral music. [[1]] exists but is not focused strongly enough on Choral Music.

- Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
Choral music is a very specific subject within classical music, and given its importance I'm surprised that it doesn't currently have a Wikiproject. As mentioned above, a number of articles suffer from a lack of in-depth treatment from a choral music perspective, and creating this Wikiproject could help to balance up these articles. The only WikiProject which is a genuine superset of Choral Music is "Classical Music", which is massive and much broader, so much so that the editors are not likely to have the specialist interest in choral music as subject in its own right.

Discussion
edit- Inclined a bit to support this, but strongly suspect it will work better as a taskforce/workgroup (subproject) of WP:WikiProject Music (or perhaps even of WP:WikiProject Classical music, depending on how people like to define these terms). I think it's topically important enough for some level of project work/focus, but skeptical that enough editors could be found to keep it even semi-active as a stand-alone project, especially given the comparatively limited range of articles (though I think there are more, especially various bios). — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 23:13, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment. A choral music wiki-project is a great idea, but it appears that in the last 3 months nobody except the proposer is fully on board. I also recommend SMcCandlish's idea of expanding the relevant sub-project within Music or Classical Music wiki-projects as a viable alternative. History DMZ (talk) 20:04, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
