Scoring
editScoring is split into four major categories: class improvement, article recognition, media, and project participation. As in years past, there is a multiplier for editing in certain states.
Class improvement
editNo points will be awarded for individual edits alone. However, if you improve an article enough that its class assessment can be moved up, points may be awarded based on the number of classes. Class improvement points will not be awarded above B-Class. B-Class assessments must be made by an outside party. Unlike in the first round, bonuses and the multiplier only affects this section.
- Stub→Start, Start→C, C→B – 1 point
- Stub→C, Start→B – 4
- Stub→B – 9
If you improve an article by one class early in the round and by another class later in the round, points will be pro-rated so you will get the full two- or three-class improvement. Once the next round begins, points cannot be pro-rated from the previous round.
- Article creation
For the sake of scoring, a newly-created article is considered a mid-importance stub. Creating an article and leaving it at Stub-Class will earn zero points as there is "no change" in assessment. Participants are strongly encouraged to not create stubs.
- Multiplier
Use this reference chart to find the multiplier for your submission. The X-axis of the chart is USRD importance (Low, Mid, etc.) and the Y-axis is the route type (Interstate, US Highway, etc.)
Top | High | Mid | Low | |
---|---|---|---|---|
IH | 9 | 5 | 3 | 2 |
USH | 8 | 4 | 2 | 1 |
SH | 4 | 2 | 1 | 0.5 |
CR | 1 | 0.5 | 0.25 | 0 |
Furthermore, if the article is national in scope and does not list any states in {{USRD}}, add 2 to the above multiplier.
- Bonuses
- Giving attention to or creating a junction list in Category:U.S. road articles with a junction list needing attention or Category:U.S. Roads project articles without needs-jctint. Point values are as follows:
- 0–50 miles - 1
- 51–150 miles - 2
- 151+ miles - 3
- NOTE – Junction lists without mileposts will get zero points.
- Adding an infobox to articles in Category:U.S. road articles without infoboxes - 1
Article recognition
editPoints may be awarded when an article successfully passes through the following channels:
- Good article nominations – 5
- A-Class review – 50
- Featured article candidates – 100
- Featured list candidates – 50
- Featured picture candidates – 20
- Did you know? – 10 Note: Only 5x expansions of existing articles will be scored
Media
editPoints may be awarded for creating maps, shields, or KML files and for uploading photographs and videos. The highway must be featured in any images or videos.
- Maps task force-compliant maps
- In Category:U.S. Roads project upper tier articles without a map - 3
- All other maps - 1
- Shields – 0
- KML files - 1 Note: KMLs are exempt from the project tagging requirement
- Uploading images
- Self-created images – 1
- Other freely-licensed images – 0
Project participation
editPoints may be awarded for working behind the scenes at WP:USRD, such as contributing to our featured portal or conducting reviews of articles. Reviews must be thorough and the changes requested must be generally accepted by the article's nominator.
- Portal contributions (DYK, ITN, SA, SP, etc.) – 10 Note: This can only be claimed once per round. If you add two DYKs and nominate the selected picture, you can only get 10 points.
- Good article reviews – 5
- Participants shall not review another participant's Good Article nominations.
- A-Class reviews – 50
- Featured article candidate reviews – 50
- Note: As most people review at ACR and then support at FAC, participants may not claim both ACR and FAC reviews for the same article unless a substantial review is given at each forum.
