Should we let him back into the academy? Dan653 (talk) 19:10, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
- I fixed your heading; hope you don't mind. ItsZippy (talk •contributions) 20:42, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
- I think so, provided he is willing to show a good attitude towards the project. I'm not sure the situation was handled incredibly well before - he's a new user with potential and we don't want to scare him off. I would be happy to be his instructor, if that is what he wants and if he can assure me that he'll display a positive attitude to it. ItsZippy (talk •contributions) 20:45, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
- Support: He should be let back into the academy. Cheers, Riley Huntley talk No talkback needed; I'll temporarily watch here. 02:58, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- Support Per ItsZippy - attitude is everything. Theopolisme TALK 04:00, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- Support Shows much remorse. I think that he should go to someone who hasn't had a student yet, like Morning277, W.D., or Krenair.Electriccatfish2 (talk) 13:35, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- Closed Will let back into academy, but I want to give him to an experienced instructor. Dan653 (talk) 20:49, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
Instructor request
Hi, I would like to be an instructor to help users fight vandalism. I meet the first two requirements, but I only have around 35% edits to articles. As with Riley, this is due to my participation in the Feedback Dashboard research project. Thank you for considering my request. Regards, Callanecc (talk • contribs)talkback (etc) template appreciated. 06:35, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
- Sure! Ermm.. I actually don't know if the "sure" is reserved for just the coordinators to say... But you seem like someone we'd love to have as an instructor! Now... Dan? Acho? Theopolisme TALK 06:57, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
- and feel free if they seem okay to let them in Theo. Dan653 (talk) 20:41, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
- They meet the requirements, so there was no need for this. Electriccatfish2 (talk) 22:19, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
- Lol, right you are, but this was probably due to the replag. Dan653 (talk) 22:29, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks very much and I've added myself. Callanecc (talk •contribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 05:17, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
- We had discussed changing the requirement of 40% to instead be 400 article edits, but the change never was made. I still think it should be changed. Mojoworker (talk) 21:34, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- I agree. I am trying to raise that number to 40%, but it's right now a 1/3, but I have over 2,000 article edits and am AWB approved. Electriccatfish2 (talk) 22:11, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- How about 40% (or greater than 500) edits to articles? Theopolisme TALK 22:18, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- Hey guys, I really don't care, but if you guys want to make a change let's get consensus. Dan653 (talk) 00:42, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Current wording has "Rollback Rights", "At least 1,000 edits and 3 months active on Wikipedia", and "≈40% of edits to articles"– thus the 40% of 1000 yields 400 or more article edits. As I mentioned previously, the way it's currently worded would disqualify a hypothetical editor with 50000 edits but only 10000 article edits. Mojoworker (talk) 19:54, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Lists are getting larger...
As more and more instructors join the academy, the list is getting larger and larger - anyone considered making the list, a) sortable, or b) more detailed (ie a column for each tool or something), so that users can sort by which tool(s) they'd like to learn? In retrospect, this doesn't make too much sense - too many columns - but just make the list more manageable... Thoughts? Other suggestions?Theopolisme TALK 15:29, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- What about if we group instructors by tools (if that's possible) rather than alphabetically. Callanecc (talk • contribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 15:46, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- What if we group them by tools (per Callanecc suggestion) and then alphabetically? —Hahc21 16:02, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- I think the easiest solution is for each proposer to Sandbox up their preferred solutions, so that we can better see what is meant by each of them. For the record, Admin Coaching has a long list of every instructor and that system worked very well, AFAIK.Achowat (talk) 16:06, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- How far do you know??? Jk. I like the idea of sorting, but you have to be pretty comfortable with wikicode to do it:Help:Table#Sorting. Dan653 (talk) 16:59, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

- Before we discuss how to break down the list or make it sortable, could be decide what we want the list to do? Once we know the desired function, we can probably design it better. Is this just a list of all the instructors, is it for enrollees to find information, is it for us to keep track of ourselves, is it to help match enrollees to instructors, etc etc? ItsZippy (talk • contributions) 20:33, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- Good point. Dan653 (talk) 20:35, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- When I made the list, initially, I just stole it from WP:Admin Coaching, and the point was to do all of those things, all at once.Achowat (talk) 20:41, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

New coordinator
Tools used column
Given the conversation I just saw (somewhere around here...) about asking questions about AWB, what do we think of adding all the tools we use to the tools column rather than just counter-vandalism tools (our students will know more about what we use and hence what they can ask about). Regards, Callanecc (talk • contribs)talkback (etc) template appreciated. 13:21, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
- No reason not to, I suppose... However, it is the Counter-Vandalism Academy - are you proposing offering more than just Counter Vandal studies? Because that seems rather counter-counter-vandalism, if you catch my drift. Elaborate a bit? I may be misunderstanding you. Theopolisme TALK 15:23, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
- 100% agree with Theo this is a counter-vandalism academy and not anything else. Dan653 (talk) 15:26, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Inactive students
What should we do about them? Dan653 (talk) 21:32, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- Some sort of procedure would be nice... How about:
User inactive for >4 days - semi-inactive
User inactive for >10 days - inactive
User goes on Wikibreak (or says will be gone for a week or whatever) - on Wikibreak through XX/XX
User semi-retires - semi-retired
User retires - [remove from list]
Theopolisme TALK 21:50, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- And if they don't respond to you remove. Callanecc (talk •contribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 11:55, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- Clarifying: If they don't reply but are active on-wiki, remove after 2 days (AGF). Theopolisme TALK 21:19, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- Daonguyen95 hasn't replied to me since some time ago, although he's editing and got rollback rights from out the CVUA, what should we do? —Hahc21 02:17, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
- Have you asked again? If no response in 2 or 3 days remove him. Dan653 (talk) 02:19, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
- Well i have asked him around 5 times some 20 days ago and nope. He seemed to be ignoring me. Anyway, i already removed him. Thanks!—Hahc21 02:24, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Memos
- If your going on vacation put a note in current students, or change student slots available to 0, or if it's a long vacation move yourself to inactive. This will help match enrollees to instructors faster.
- As soon as you take a student you must update the status page ASAP.
- Thanks, Dan653 (talk) 21:57, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- I think we have a bunch of these memos scattered through the archives, etc - would it make sense to consolidate them all into one MEMO section that has a {{DNAU}} template to stop it from archiving? Theopolisme TALK 23:47, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- What would be the point of a memo section? Dan653 (talk) 02:20, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- You've made a selection of these announcements during the CVUA's history - I think it would make sense to have some sort of "read this" section of various notices (ex the inactive list, etc) at the top of this page. Do I make sense? Theopolisme TALK 11:18, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- Of course you make sense. I don't think we should make a separate page, but maybe a collapsible thingy named "Memos" and put it at the top of the main talk page. What do you think? Dan653 (talk) 19:10, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- Alright! Will use this when I'll take a short Wiki-break (I'll come online even in Wikibreak but not more than for 1/2 hour(s) a day) after some time --Tito Dutta ✉ 20:56, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
