February 15th Edit Assignment
editOn Saturday, we will be making edits to current Wikipedia articles. The selected articles must be relevant to our course and edits can address content and structure. I ask that you make 5 edits to the articles you select. Edits can include:
- Grammar correction
- Organization and structure improvement
- Clarification to ideas
- Links to internal and external pages
- Additional citations
I strongly encourage one edit to be the use of links and another the addition of an appropriate citation. Be sure to complete the Edit Summary for each edit. All edits should be completed by 11:59 PM February 15th.
Indicate what changes you make on the course talk page. Specifically state the page and section edited and why you made the change. Be sure to sign your post with four tildes (~ ~ ~ ~). Each edit can be stated in bullet form. Resources for specific editing questions can be located on our Wikipedia course page. You can also ask for assistance via the IRC chat.

Editing questions
edit- Sign your posts (with 4 ~'s) when you are editing a Talk page. The Talk page of an article is where you can inform other Wikipedians of edits you have made and why. On a User Talk page, you can directly interact with the editor and address disagreements, exchange ideas, etc. You do not have to sign edits on the article page, but you should be logged in when making edits.
- Only the first word of a Section header title should be capitalized unless there are proper nouns. For example, "Habitat Requirements" should be "Habitat requirements."
- Overall, edits look great! I hope you are all becoming more comfortable with editing Wikipedia! B.J.Carmichael (talk) 18:58, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
