Surprising views

@Janke, Sca, Mattximus, and Jobas: I can understand that people may have different opinions toward the phenomena in their surroundings. However, I think your voting on this photo was weird and surprisingly against hundreds of viewpoints presented in Wikimedia Commons, Wiki-ar, Wiki-fa and Wiki-fr, and was irrespective of them. Did you just see by how many votes the photo was supported elsewhere? Were they baseless? --Mhhossein ^talk 11:08, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

I recognize it's a dramatic photo aesthetically and one that may elicit emotional reactions. However, I don't base my comments/votes on the views of others. IMO, it's visual information that counts. Sca (talk) 14:11, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

It's a nice photo for sure, but the purpose of featured photos on wikipedia is different then that on wikicommons. The purpose of featured pictures is to provide encyclopedic value, specifically: accurate depiction of the subject. If the image is half covered in shadows, it does not serve the purpose of an encylopedia, more of an art gallery. Mattximus (talk) 23:28, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
