Working definition
editThe working definition is, "films in the Star Wars series".--Pharos 02:37, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Vital improvements
editThis topic satisfies current criteria just fine. -- igordebraga ≠ 22:57, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
This topic does not meet current Wikipedia:Featured topic criteria, and will be eligible for removal after 1 January 2008 if this situation is not rectified. In particular, a lead article (presumably Star Wars) must be found and improved to at least GA level. Alternatively, one could consider trying to improve Star Wars original trilogy and Star Wars prequel trilogy, and splitting the topic in two; but this is probably not a wise idea since one would also have to ensure that each of these two also have at least three FAs, and the original trilogy article fall short on this.--Pharos 02:37, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
It's still probably a not a good idea to split this in two (making Star Wars GA is probably easier than making both the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy GA), but I was probably overinterpreting a requirement for 3 FAs. Anyway, I think it might be a good idea to just designate Star Wars the lead immediately, so at least it's in the standard format, even if it isn't meeting criteria yet; is there any problem with this?--Pharos 06:09, 13 June 2007 (UTC)The last time we tried that it failed, but if you want to give it another go, you'll have my support. It might pass if we try nominating it while specifically saying in the nomination that the topic is on provisional status anyway.--Arctic Gnome (talk • contribs) 06:47, 13 June 2007 (UTC)I'd support doing so too because it would make people more likely to improve Star Wars if they see it needs improving.— Pious7 13:46, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Definitely agree that this needs a proper Main articles ASAP.Circeus 18:42, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
::Also, following a disgraceful FAR for Episode III, it needs to reach GA/FA level again. igordebraga ≠ 16:25, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
One more article will need to be brought to FA status by 1 April 2009 per the new requirements for Featured topics. Dabomb87 (talk) 03:15, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- This one will be tougher than the Zelda one, but I'll still get there. Gary King (talk) 03:18, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Potential improvements
editOf course it would also be nice if Return of the Jedi was brought up to FA to complete the set.--Pharos 02:37, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Four other articles could also reach Featured status: Star Wars (GA), and the entirety of the prequel trilogy (GAs and former FAs, demoted after three disgraceful FARs) igordebraga ≠ 02:05, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
Possible additions
editIt is possible that articles on some characters, etc. could be added to this topic in future.--Pharos 02:37, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- How about the two trilogy articles, or stuff from Category:Lists of Star Wars characters? Circeus 18:38, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Generating some ideas, possible expansions as far as I see are:
- List of changes in Star Wars re-releases, Star Wars sequel trilogy and Star Wars (radio) could be added individually
- Focussing just on the production side, List of Star Wars films cast members, Blue Harvest and Anchorhead Story of Star Wars could be added, along with a possible crew list
- After release, Star Wars: The Clone Wars (film) could be added, as the other Star Wars film to have a cinema release
- Other Star Wars films: The Star Wars Holiday Special, Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure, Ewoks: The Battle for Endor, The Great Heep and once again Star Wars: The Clone Wars (film), or this could form its own "spin-offs" topic
- If the movies expansions are taken, then an expansion into television could be made, including Star Wars: Droids, Star Wars: Ewoks, Star Wars: Clone Wars (TV Series), Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV series) and Star Wars live-action TV series, or this could form its own topic
- You could also add documentaries about Star Wars, e.g. Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed, The Making of Star Wars, Empire of Dreams and The Power of Myth, or again this could form its own topic
- You could also add the short spinoffs Lego Star Wars: Revenge of the Brick, R2-D2: Beneath the Dome, Return of the Ewok and Star Tours
- If you change the definition of the topic a fair bit, it could be argued that Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire could be included
- A very large expansion would be to add Category:Star Wars fan films, or this could be its own subtopic
- This could be expanded to a more general Star Wars topic with the addition of the likes of Cultural impact of Star Wars, Philosophy and religion in Star Wars, List of Star Wars books, Star Wars computer and video games, List of Star Wars video games, List of Star Wars comic books, Star Wars music, Star Wars Expanded Universe, List of Star Wars weapons, Star Wars Trading Cards, Star Wars canon, Physics and Star Wars, Force (Star Wars) and Dates in Star Wars or this could form a supertopic of this one
- Related potential topics include characters (including subsets), cast, crew, lists of locations, vehicles, items/weapons, conflicts, books, comics, video games, other games, general Expanded Universe, merchandise, Jedi, Powers of the Force, music, fandom, organisations, Star Wars lists, Star Wars character lists...
Lots of potential! Though none of the articles are up to scratch for now I think and several of these expansions/related topics would be very large and a lot of work - rst20xx (talk) 20:02, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
