Neighborhoods

List of Atlanta neighborhoods needs to be cleaned up a little. The neighborhoods to include in the template needs to be agreed upon. And then we should probably standardize what a neighborhood should include and try to make a page for each neighborhood. Akubhai 14:16, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Article tagging

You may want to reconsider which articles you've tagged, as many of them are probably outside the scope of your project. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 03:14, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes, Disavian has very strong feelings about our tagging, to say the least; see comments and response here. Good luck to everyone. -- Satori Son 16:23, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
Stay strong. Sometimes, wikiprojects intersect with others, and tension arises. With regards to the established WikiProject Georgia Tech, it may be a good idea to declare them a child project, and then not tag any article that naturally belongs to them. Perhaps ultimately, that project can become a task force of WikiProject Atlanta, but I would think only after this project becomes somewhat established. Good luck, and welcome to the growing array of city wikiprojects! Stevie is the man! TalkWork 15:20, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Chastain Park

I started a stub for Chastain Park, someone want to help? Is this project even alive? Akubhai 18:36, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Hey all

I just added this to the Georgia (state) project page, but I think it is more related to this project b/c its center was in Atlanta:

I'm actually a fellow resident of Georgia. I'm not a formal member of this project (maybe one day), but I am a member of WP:PW (Project Wrestling). I came to inform you that one of our articles, which also happens to relate to the great state of Georgia, is up for a Good Article review. The article is History of World Championship Wrestling. I went ahead and added your template to the talk-page...I was surprised that it wasn't already there. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know, so you could keep an eye out for it and add it to list of Good Articles (if it passes). Thanks. Nikki311 04:07, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Merger with Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)

Possibly merging WP:ATL with Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state) may concentrate efforts and result in many more improvements. -Connor Carey 16:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Wikimania bid

A few dedicated individuals, myself included, are putting together a bid to host Wikimania on Georgia Tech's campus. This is an incredible opportunity, so any assistance that any of you would be able to provide will be greatly appreciated. Please read m:Wikimania 2008/Official requirements for bidding cities and m:Wikimania 2008/Judging criteria and contribute to the ongoing bid, located at m:Wikimania 2008/Bids/Atlanta. The deadline for bids is August 30, 2007, so we need to work and plan quickly. For those interested, there will be an IRC meeting to coordinate the bid tonight (Aug 23) at 7:00PM EST in #wikimania-atlanta on irc.freenode.com. If you can, it would be great if you could log on. Thanks for your help! :) —Disavian (talk/contribs) 17:12, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

MARTA up for peer review

I've listed the MARTA article for a peer review. I would appreciate feedback from experienced editors regarding the quality of the article and areas needing improvement. I am thinking of trying to make it a featured article. Biomedeng (talk) 03:49, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Peachtree Road Race

I expanded the Peachtree Road Race article beyond stub status and submitted the fact that it is the world's largest 10K to did you know. Currently it is on the front page. Please feel free to edit the article to provide additional information. I would also like to get the article assessed from someone from Wikiproject Atlanta. Biomedeng (talk) 13:51, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Help request: Martin Luther King, Jr.

Hello, I would like to request some help with this article, which is under the scope of this project. I fully sourced it over the past week, and I would like to help it get to GA or FA status. It would be great if any editors from this project could look it over, possibly do some copyediting, and give some feedback in the peer review. Thanks, GaryColemanFan (talk) 23:33, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! Articles flagged for cleanup

Currently, 563 articles are assigned to this project, of which 126, or 22.4%, are flagged for cleanup of some sort. (Data as of 14 July 2008.) Are you interested in finding out more? I am offering to generate cleanup to-do lists on a project or work group level. See User:B. Wolterding/Cleanup listings for details. More than 150 projects and work groups have already subscribed, and adding a subscription for yours is easy - just place the following template on your project page:

Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for Atlanta

Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.

We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.

A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.

We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! For the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial team, SelectionBot 22:53, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Image needs replacement

Hello all...

An image used in the Atlanta Botanical Garden article, specifically Image:Atlbotanicalgardens.jpg, has a little bit of a licensing issue. The image was uploaded back when the rules around image uploading were less restrictive. It is presumed that the uploader was willing to license the picture under the GFDL license but was not clear in that regard. As such, the image, while not at risk of deletion, is likely not clearly licensed to allow for free use in any future use of this article. If anyone has an image that can replace this, or can go take one and upload it, it would be best.

You have your mission, take your camera and start clicking.--Jordan 1972 (talk) 22:31, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Milestone Announcements

  • All WikiProjects are invited to have their "milestone-reached" announcements automatically placed onto Wikipedia's announcements page.
  • Milestones could include the number of FAs, GAs or articles covered by the project.
  • No work need be done by the project themselves; they just need to provide some details when they sign up. A bot will do all of the hard work.

I thought this WIkiProject might be interested. Ping me with any specific queries or leave them on the page linked to above. Thanks! - Jarry1250 (t, c) 21:40, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 04:49, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Photo request: Delta Air Lines headquarters

If anyone has time, would anyone mind taking a photo of Delta Air Lines's headquarters? It is located at 1030 Delta Boulevard, by the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport. If possible, see if you can get the Atlanta Main Post Office at 3900 Crown Road SW. Thank you! WhisperToMe (talk) 03:56, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Martin Luther King, Jr. Request for comment

There is currently a discussion regarding how much material regarding certain matters of the subject's private life should be included in the article above. A request for comment on the subject can be found at Talk:Martin Luther King, Jr.#Request for Comments. Any input is more than welcome. Thank you. John Carter (talk) 14:11, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

GA Sweeps invitation

This message is being sent to WikiProjects with GAs under their scope. Since August 2007, WikiProject Good Articles has been participating in GA sweeps. The process helps to ensure that articles that have passed a nomination before that date meet the GA criteria. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. Instead of reviewing by topic, editors can consider picking and choosing whichever articles they are interested in.

We are always looking for new members to assist with reviewing the remaining articles, and since this project has GAs under its scope, it would be beneficial if any of its members could review a few articles (perhaps your project's articles). Your project's members are likely to be more knowledgeable about your topic GAs then an outside reviewer. As a result, reviewing your project's articles would improve the quality of the review in ensuring that the article meets your project's concerns on sourcing, content, and guidelines. However, members can also review any other article in the worklist to ensure it meets the GA criteria.

If any members are interested, please visit the GA sweeps page for further details and instructions in initiating a review. If you'd like to join the process, please add your name to the running total page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles from the worklist or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. With ~1,300 articles left to review, we would appreciate any editors that could contribute in helping to uphold the quality of GAs. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Talk:University of Atlanta -- input requested

This article has been the subject of many discussions (WP:ANI, WP:AFD, etc.) A predecessor school, Barrington University, was unaccredited and involved in multiple scandals. In 2004, it was sold to new owners. In 2008, Barrington was renamed and received DETC accreditation.

Presently, there's a disagreement at Talk:University of Atlanta as to whether Barrington's history should be included in the University of Atlanta article. This content issue has been clouded by issues of alleged spamming, sockpuppetry and legal threats by University of Atlanta employees and/or partisans.

It would be helpful if we had a few more neutral editors looking this over and adding their thoughtful comments on the talk page. Note that doing this right probably means about 30 minutes reading the cited references and the full discussion on the article talk page.

Thanks, --A. B. (talkcontribs) 16:53, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Georgia Institute of Technology GA Sweeps: On Hold

I have reviewed Georgia Institute of Technology for GA Sweeps to determine if it still qualifies as a Good Article. In reviewing the article I have found several issues, which I have detailed here. Since the article falls under the scope of this project, I figured you would be interested in contributing to further improve the article. Please comment there to help the article maintain its GA status. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing! WP 1.0 bot announcement

This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Additional information is available at the WP 1.0 project homepage. — Carl (CBM · talk) 02:52, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced living people articles bot

User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects provides a list, updated daily, of unreferenced living people articles (BLPs) related to your project. There has been a lot of discussion recently about deleting these unreferenced articles, so it is important that these articles are referenced.

The unreferenced articles related to your project can be found at >>>Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/Atlanta task force/Archive 1/Unreferenced BLPs<<<

If you do not want this wikiproject to participate, please add your project name to this list.

Thank you.

Update: Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/Atlanta task force/Archive 1/Unreferenced BLPs has been created. This list, which is updated by User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects daily, will allow your wikiproject to quickly identify unreferenced living person articles.
There maybe no or few articles on this new Unreferenced BLPs page. To increase the overall number of articles in your project with another bot, you can sign up for User:Xenobot_Mk_V#Instructions.
If you have any questions or concerns, visit User talk:DASHBot/Wikiprojects. Okip 01:33, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
