Why is this WikiProject needed?

I mean, what useful articles are there about the subject besides the movie articles? TheBlazikenMaster 01:26, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

You mean, besides the articles about the characters, traps, soundtracks and the comicbook?--CyberGhostface 02:51, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok, that's good enough answer to me. TheBlazikenMaster 09:35, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Still-sitting merge request!

The merge request to attach Lynn Denlon to Jeff Reinhart has been sitting around for a while. Shall we take action and merge them or not? There've been nothing said against the idea. What might make it easier would be to just label the new article The Reinhart family (Saw) or something, and have little tidbits on Dylan and Corbett, no? Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 01:15, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

That sounds like a good idea. I'll add it to the merge box on the main page and see what can be done tomorrow.--CyberGhostface 02:28, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
K, thanks Cyber, now we have Reinhart family (Saw) created and probably in need of some more editing, shall we start by getting rid of Jeff Reinhart and Lynn Denlon, and editing any links to said articles? Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 03:12, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Alright, I'll redirect their pages and go on from there.--CyberGhostface 11:33, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Out of curiousity, since there is no "Reinhart family" article should I just remove the (Saw) bit?--CyberGhostface 11:37, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
K, picked through List of Saw characters and List of traps in the Saw film series to fix links to properly link to Reinhart family. What's the status on Adam/Lawrence merge? What would the article name be? I'm not all that happy with merging the two, but I'm sure it'll save space etc. Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 05:14, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Maybe we don't have to merge it yet unless a consensus calls for it. If we did, the title would probably be Adam Faulkner and Lawrence Gordon or some variation thereof. Being as they aren't related, it'd be harder to find some uniform name than with Jeff and Lynn.--CyberGhostface 18:47, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Collaboration

A corroboration of the month, or maybe the week, should probably be set up. Any suggestions on length or the first target? --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 21:41, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

I think an article that's closest to being FA status should go first. There'd probably be more external information on the films themselves than on characters, so I'd say either the article on the first Saw or the whole series article.--CyberGhostface 21:55, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
The first film might be a good idea probably a month should be plenty of time to make progress. --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 23:15, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
So is it decided? Is Saw going to be the first collaboration? How about we say it goes throughout the month of October for Halloween, or should we do something else by then?--CyberGhostface 20:58, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Concerning the "Did you know?" box...

I think it would really be a good addition to this page, and would help to wipe out any trivia on the Saw pages to clean them up, no? Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 20:45, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea as well. Do you want to start it?--CyberGhostface 21:22, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
While I wouldn't mind starting it, I think someone with a bit more know-how concerning templates should take on this one. Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 21:34, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

I can contribute a bit of my time, if help is needed on the Saw project!!!!! Zenlax 1:24, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Do you want to add the box? I'm not too sure how it works myself, unless someone knows of a template somewhere.--CyberGhostface 21:32, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps it should be chalked up on the "To Do" list for someone more capable? Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 00:21, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Category:Saw characters

Any thoughts? Articles: List of Saw characters, Jigsaw Killer, Amanda Young, Detective Eric Matthews, Adam Faulkner, Lawrence Gordon (Saw), Reinhart family. Just a thought, although it may just be for nothing. Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 20:45, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Pig mask

I was thinking, could we make an article for the pig mask? We have enough knowledge concerning it, appearances and uses, as well as it's origins. It is an inanimate object, but so is Billy, and he has an article that's lasted this long. So what do you guys think? Does it have enough importance in the Saw series to be given an article? Is it encyclopedic enough for an article? Or is it just a trivial thing? If it doesn't get an article, I feel as if it should be explained in another article. Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 03:45, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Article made. Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 01:46, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Protection

Can a Protection Go up for the Saw V (soundtrack) and Saw VI (soundtrack) pages Please. Me myself don't know yet how to protect a page for future creation. Thanks --҉ რɫՒ◌§ 9¤ 23:12, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Figure I should throw out an apology here...

The user that's currently going around deleting all the non-cited information in the articles is almost certainly my fault. In the Pig mask article the user had put up a section on the talk page to ask for an explanation why his bit on theme had been deleted. Upon to explaining it to him he has decided to prove a point by deleting all of these sorts of things. So I apologise for all the inconvenience this is causing Agent452 (talk) 23:52, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

John cutting a jigsaw piece from his failed victims

I'm not overly certain this is true. If you remember, Troy had a jigsaw piece cut from him, yet the door was welded shut... Rather odd don't you think?

 ViperBlade Talk!! 08:43, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't know what's up with that. Maybe Amanda carved it ahead of time because she knew he was going to fail.--CyberGhostface (talk) 12:04, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Saw/Current Newsletter

I created Wikipedia:WikiProject Saw/Current Newsletter and updated it with January 2008's newsletter. The page was created so that Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Newsletters doesn't have to be continuously updated. If the project plans to start with new newsletters, just paste the entire newsletter on this page and it will update it on the main newsletters' page. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 00:17, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Saw Traps

If you think the article for the Saw traps should return, I put it on deletion review.

Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2008_October_14#List_of_traps_in_the_Saw_film_series--CyberGhostface (talk) 16:23, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

The article is currently in my userspace at User:A Nobody/List of traps in the Saw film series if anyone would like to help me improve it. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 01:46, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Serious problems with a number of Saw articles and WP:PLOT

People, I've been looking over some of the articles in this general series, and am finding rampant problems. It started out with my reading of Reinhart family. This article is almost completely plot. There's precious little that isn't. The only section of note that isn't is "Name debate". The outside references are very thin, and in a casual google search I came back with nothing about this family in the first few dozen google hits. Gordon family (Saw) suffers from the same problems. Also, have a look at Wikipedia:Plot_summaries#Length_of_plot_summaries. The length of these things is frankly absurd. Gordon family (Saw) contains more than 1300 words of plot (recommended is maximum of 500). Reinhart family is even worse at more than 3000 words. I'm picking at the tip of the iceberg here. The Saw films are popular, but this is an encyclopedia, not a fan guide. many of these articles lack significant out-of-universe references as well. As it stands, many of these articles would fail an AfD. A huge amount of work needs to be done here or many of the articles in this group's purview will be deleted. --Hammersoft (talk) 16:53, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

I would appreciate it if you didn't AFD them for the time being. They do need a lot of work, though, and I wouldn't be against the idea of a merge for some of the articles if they don't improve (with some exceptions, mainly Jigsaw and Amanda).--CyberGhostface (talk) 17:00, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
  • I don't intend on AfDing them, but if no work proceeds on fixing the rampant problems there's not much choice. As we've seen with the traps AfD, waiting a year before conducting the necessary work isn't an option. --Hammersoft (talk) 17:12, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

COTW.

I strongly think we need to set up one. Especially with the newly released Saw V. There are several rticles that need to updated, and i have tried a little so far. One that really needs work seems to be Saw (film series), as all of the Saw V info needs to be added. I am willing to help, but I don't feel I can work on it all alone. If anyone has any other suggestions for COTW, please leave them here. If someone would like to help me with the film series article, please leave a message here, or on my talk page, and we can get to work immediately. --HELLØ ŦHERE 22:43, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Hoffman.

Is there anyone else who believes he may be deserving of his own article as he's now been connected to all of the films? His section as List of Saw characters seems a bit too long. I am going to create a subpage, if anyone would like to help, please leave a message here or on my personal talk page. --HELLØ ŦHERE 17:47, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

I agree he deserves one. I'm not quite sure how to help you make his article though. What would you like me to do? Cyfin (talk) 05:50, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Name change.

In there any opinion on renaming the Saw (film series) page to "Saw (franchise)"? I have been thinking about this for a little while, and I think, since there is more than just "films" (comic book, video game, ride, and possibly more) it should be renamed to franchise, as is done in the A Nightmare on Elm Street (franchise) page, the Friday the 13th (franchise) page, and the Halloween (franchise) page. Now, granted, these "franchises" have more to offer than the Saw series, but it seems to me that this page should follow the same fashion. Just my opinion. Note: This section has been included in both the Saw film series talk page and the WikiProject Saw talk page. --HELLØ ŦHERE 03:23, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Task force merger

With the more common acceptance of Task Forces now, shouldn't this project shift to a Task Force under Wikipedia:WikiProject Horror? You'd benefit from the existing infrastructure (including assessment scales and style guidelines) and making a singular, more encompassing WikiProject an "umbrella" for various Task Forces will bring people with similar interests together.

For these reasons I propose the following page (and associated talk page) moves:

  1. Wikipedia:WikiProject Saw move to Wikipedia:WikiProject Horror/Saw task force as a task force.
  2. Wikipedia:WikiProject Saw/to do move to Wikipedia:WikiProject Horror/Saw task force/to do to keep existing structure
  3. Wikipedia:WikiProject Saw/Current Newsletter move to Wikipedia:WikiProject Horror/Saw task force/Current Newsletter to keep existing structure
  4. Wikipedia:WikiProject Saw/Outreach/Newsletter September 2007 move to Wikipedia:WikiProject Horror/Saw task force/Outreach/Newsletter September 2007 to keep existing structure
  5. Wikipedia:WikiProject Saw/Outreach/Newsletter October 2007 move to Wikipedia:WikiProject Horror/Saw task force/Outreach/Newsletter October 2007 to keep existing structure
  6. Wikipedia:WikiProject Saw/Outreach/Newsletter January 2008 move to Wikipedia:WikiProject Horror/Saw task force/Outreach/Newsletter January 2008 to keep existing structure
  7. Wikipedia:WikiProject Saw/Outreach/Newsletter October 2008 move to Wikipedia:WikiProject Horror/Saw task force/Outreach/Newsletter October 2008 to keep existing structure

This proposal is inline with the current discussions regarding a Friday the 13th WikiProject (which is strongly opposed as a separate WikiProject) and a Halloween task force. While I can't find the mention of it, I believe a Texas Chainsaw Massacre task force is also in the works.

Thanks. hornoir (talk) 12:57, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind that, I suppose.--CyberGhostface (talk) 22:17, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
With CyberGhostface's tentative support and no lodged opposition, I'll be boldly enacting this move in the next couple of days. Please add any support or opposition to this discussion before then. Thank you. hornoir (talk) 13:38, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm about to boldly enact this move, though it should be seamless as redirects will be posted from the old locations. hornoir (talk) 13:35, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
Done The move is complete. Project pages and templates should be updated to the reveal the new location. When I next update the {{HorrorWikiProject}} template, I'll create a task force listing under it for Saw. hornoir (talk) 13:48, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Editorial 1.0 Statistics

I finished redoing the Category layout for your articles so that they can be properly assessed by the Wikipedia Editorial 1.0 Team. The result was...

You can add this to your main page by calling {{Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Saw task force articles by quality statistics}} anywhere on the page. hornoir (talk) 16:02, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

AfD on "Three Fingers"

I'm here to let you know that "Three Fingers", a song by Buckethead, used on Saw II (soundtrack) is nominated for deletion. Discussion can be found here. --Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 16:21, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Saw VII in 3-D

There has been an article the recently came out mentioning that a Saw 7 is being talked about and possibly in 3-D. If the sources are true instead of coming from the Rumor mill can it be added to the Saw VI article regarding to sequels as well as the Saw (franchise) article?

"There are already plans for SAW VII. Troy Begnaud feels as long as audiences want it, they'll continue making them. "When making an installment, we not only think of year's past but about the future." When asked about the possibility of a SAW sequel in 3D, Troy said there have been discussions but no decisions have been made. Troy feels unlike other films, SAW would lend itself well to 3D without having to trying to hard. "It's not so much about axes flying into the audiences to hit pin-point scares. I think our story could be told really well in 3D and give people a really visceral experience in terms of what these people are going through in their games. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens."

Saw Prequel "The Collector"

Should this movie The Collector (2009 film) be mentioned in any of the Saw articles or a Saw nav box as it was originally intended to be the prequel to the Saw series but then later on decided to become its own movie? --҉ რɫՒ◌§ 9¤ 03:06, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
