Broken assessments
Hi folks: I messed with this but its well over my head. I'm assuming the assessment cats and the assessment display box are using difrent variations of C%C3%B4te_d%27Ivoire or Cote_d%E2%80%99Ivoire. Can someone who understands how these things work take a look? Cheers. T L Miles (talk) 19:57, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

African cinema task force
An African cinema task force has been proposed at WikiProject Films, which would include the cinema of Cote d'Ivoire. Interested editors are encouraged to sign up - if there is enough interest, then the task force will be created! Many thanks, Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 03:28, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Help request: 34 Côte d'Ivoire-related articles needing geographical coordinates
Based on a search of Wikipedia's articles related to Côte d'Ivoire, I've found some articles that I believe are about places in Côte d'Ivoire, and could usefully have geographical coordinates added.
The articles in question are listed in Category:Côte d'Ivoire articles missing geocoordinate data. At the time of writing, some examples included:
...and there are many more, as well. At the time of posting this notice, there were 34 articles in this category needing geographical coordinates.
Why add coordinates?
By adding coordinates, a Wikipedia reader can easily view the location on a street map, nautical chart, topographic map, by satellite photo, realtime weather map, and in many other ways. Coordinate data makes an article eventually appear in various services such as Google Maps' Wikipedia overlay, Google Earth, and Wikipedia's own internal map service. Coordinate data also helps readers looking for geographically-based data, such as locations near a reference point, or related information.
How can I do it?
The articles are all marked with {{coord missing}} tags, which need to be replaced with {{coord}} tags that contain the location's latitude/longitude coordinates; or you might be able to add coordinates to an existing infobox. You can find out how to do this at the Wikipedia:Geocoding how-to for WikiProject members. Please let me know if this is useful, or if you have any questions! -- The Anome (talk) 11:39, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Images available for upload
This user at Flickr has a number of photos which are CC-BY licensed (and thus available to upload to http://commons.wikimedia.org. He has a pile of picture (somefreely licensed, some not) of the CI national squad training in Abidjan, dignitaries and celebrities, and the city. I've got other stuff to do, but any image by this user with the little "(BY) Attribution Some rights reserved " tag can be uploaded and used on Wikipedia freely. Have at it. WP 1.0 bot announcement
This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Additional information is available at the WP 1.0 project homepage. — Carl (CBM · talk) 03:11, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Unreferenced living people articles bot
User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects provides a list, updated daily, of unreferenced living people articles (BLPs) related to your project. There has been a lot of discussion recently about deleting these unreferenced articles, so it is important that these articles are referenced.
The unreferenced articles related to your project can be found at >>>Wikipedia:WikiProject Ivory Coast/Archive 1/Unreferenced BLPs<<<
If you do not want this wikiproject to participate, please add your project name to this list.
Thank you.
- Update: Wikipedia:WikiProject Ivory Coast/Archive 1/Unreferenced BLPs has been created. This list, which is updated by User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects daily, will allow your wikiproject to quickly identify unreferenced living person articles.
- There maybe no or few articles on this new Unreferenced BLPs page. To increase the overall number of articles in your project with another bot, you can sign up for User:Xenobot_Mk_V#Instructions.
- If you have any questions or concerns, visit User talk:DASHBot/Wikiprojects. Okip 01:09, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
To note that there is a request for comment on whether Wikipedia should be giving primacy to the phrase of Côte d'Ivoire or Ivory Coast. Those who would like to express their opinion and participate in the discussion should do at that talk page. billinghurst sDrewth 08:30, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Cote d'Ivoire articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release
Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the Cote d'Ivoire articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Sunday, November 14th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of November, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!
If you have already provided feedback, we deeply appreciate it. For the Wikipedia 1.0 editorial team, SelectionBot 16:31, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Popular pages project sign-up
I've signed the project up for bot generated popular pages listings. To edit my request the key is: j8778ge. --Kleopatra (talk) 17:12, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Pageview stats
After a recent request, I added WikiProject Côte d'Ivoire to the list of projects to compile monthly pageview stats for. The data is the same used by http://stats.grok.se/en/ but the program is different, and includes the aggregate views from all redirects to each page. The stats are at Wikipedia:WikiProject Côte d'Ivoire/Popular pages.
The page will be updated monthly with new data. The edits aren't marked as bot edits, so they will show up in watchlists. You can view more results, request a new project be added to the list, or request a configuration change for this project using the toolserver tool. If you have any comments or suggestions, please let me know. Thanks! Mr.Z-man 01:19, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Côte d'Ivoire sport template discussion
Greetings! Two or more stub types which you created have been nominated for renaming or deletion at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type most likely doesn't meet Wikipedia requirements for a stub type, through failure to meet standards relating to the name, scope, current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals! Requested move of Côte d'Ivoire

Requested move
- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: moved. WP:UE doesn't apply here, because this is not an article. The basic principle of consistency dictates this move. However, should at some future point the members of the Wikiproject decide to change it back, or to a third name, their wishes should be given deference. 84.110.51.241 (talk) 20:08, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

- Oppose WP:UE does not apply as it is already a name in English usage, but you knew that didn't you! The people in the project might have been consulted first. Agathoclea (talk) 18:10, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
- That assertion is disputed, to put it mildly. --BDD (talk) 18:42, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
- Comment unless members of this project !vote, and since there's been no notice to the project for some significant time period (low activity project), I don't see how this request can be valid, since WPPs can be named anyway the members want. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 03:35, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- You know that this RM is on the project's talk's page? Kauffner (talk) 09:08, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- This is a low activity project, if none of the members notice that someone is imposing a change onto their project (if they check the talk page once a month or something), it would be bad, since outsiders would be imposing a name onto their project without their participation. A similar event (imposition by outsiders) at WP:USA cause a huge incident, reciminations, etc., when a low activity state project wasn't informed of changes to their project made by WP:USA.
- No one (including myself) appears in the talk page prior to this discussion who have participated in this discussion, nor is anyone signed on the membership list. There has not yet been participation by the project itself. (Which is why I think a discussion should have been opened for a month to see if anyone would discuss it, before opening an RM proposal; if a month passes with no perhaps the project should be marked semi-active, and then outsiders proposing a rename would be much the same as any other user, due to lack of activity) -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 11:23, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- WP:OWN? Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 13:30, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- This is not an article, but a project therefore the project has mostly jurisdiction over its scope and pages. It will have to be a major conflict with core policies to allow outside interference. Agathoclea (talk) 21:04, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- WikiProjects can be proposed for deletion by non-members. This is not a unique case. Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 21:28, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- A good example. The arguments and the outcome there proof my point. Agathoclea (talk) 22:09, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- Very well. Look what happened to WP:Mediation Cabal. Unless you can point to policy that says non-project members are not allowed any weight to the outcome of discussions, I don't see any point in continuing this thread. Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 05:38, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- I asked for an opinion from WP:COUNCIL, where an opinion given said it's probably a bad thing, since it could make editors stop editing. -- 76.65.131.248 (talk) 22:56, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- Just to be clear, this is the opinion of an individual. Your comment made me think that the council as a body handed down an opinion. That said, the opinion probably suggests a legitimate concern. --BDD (talk) 15:55, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
- A good example. The arguments and the outcome there proof my point. Agathoclea (talk) 22:09, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

- Mild Oppose - I tend to think that, despite the recent moves elsewhere, that "Cote d'Ivoire" is one of only two countries, the other being "Timor Leste" who have come to prominence since the people in the US and UK have become a bit less, well, English-centric, and that, despite the recent discussion of moving, this actually is, at present, the more commonly used form of the name in the academic world. It may even be becoming such in the regular news media as well. The fact of one page being named does not, as per policy, mean that any and all other pages must similarly be changed. Personally, I think it would be an extraordinary effort to change the templates to reflect this proposed change, change the relevant categories for assessment, ans so on and on and on, particularly when this matter is less clearcut than some might think. I honestly can't see any particular benefit from the name change, and a possibly extreme amount of work to be imposed on someone simply because they want to go possibly a bit overboard and seemingly remove a name which is in use, even if not in the most regular way, in the English speaking press. However, if someone else wishes to engage in the effort to change the assessment categories, banner material, and so on, then I would have no objection. But, honestly, it makes no sense to me to have the categories be for the Cote d'Ivoire topic when the project itself is perhaps Ivory Coast. John Carter (talk) 00:41, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
- Here are English sources using Côte d'Ivoire according to Google Alerts: All Africa (12), Global Voices Online, Liberian Day Observer, Inner City Press, Boxscore, CRIEnglish. Reuters AlertNet. Few of these are well regarded publications. Those using Ivory Coast: Reuters (6), Businessweek (2), Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune via Reuters, ESPN via AP, Associated Press, Bloomberg, Washington Post, Seattle Times via AP, Washington Examiner, Atlanta Journal-Constituition. Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 01:37, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
- Lest we get into another Côte d'Ivoire vs. Ivory Coast battle here, I think we should keep in mind that the relevant question is not what to call the country but whether it's appropriate for the corresponding WikiProject to adopt a different name. Might I point to Wikipedia:WikiProject Burma (Myanmar) and suggest Wikipedia:WikiProject Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire) as a compromise? It's a bit unwieldy, but it's based on precedent. I still prefer the original proposal, but this may satisfy more people. --BDD (talk) 21:53, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
- Support. Not too fussed, but I agree with those supporting that it makes sense for the project to reflect the title of the article. Jenks24 (talk) 05:47, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
- Support. The argument that Côte d'Ivoire is the WP:COMMONNAME in English is baseless. The RM on the main article reached consensus that Ivory Coast is the CN in English, and should be also applied here. Zarcadia (talk) 21:31, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Popular pages tool update
As of January, the popular pages tool has moved from the Toolserver to Wikimedia Tool Labs. The code has changed significantly from the Toolserver version, but users should notice few differences. Please take a moment to look over your project's list for any anomalies, such as pages that you expect to see that are missing or pages that seem to have more views than expected. Note that unlike other tools, this tool aggregates all views from redirects, which means it will typically have higher numbers. (For January 2014 specifically, 35 hours of data is missing from the WMF data, which was approximated from other dates. For most articles, this should yield a more accurate number. However, a few articles, like ones featured on the Main Page, may be off).
Web tools, to replace the ones at tools:~alexz/pop, will become available over the next few weeks at toollabs:popularpages. All of the historical data (back to July 2009 for some projects) has been copied over. The tool to view historical data is currently partially available (assessment data and a few projects may not be available at the moment). The tool to add new projects to the bot's list is also available now (editing the configuration of current projects coming soon). Unlike the previous tool, all changes will be effective immediately. OAuth is used to authenticate users, allowing only regular users to make changes to prevent abuse. A visible history of configuration additions and changes is coming soon. Once tools become fully available, their toolserver versions will redirect to Labs.
If you have any questions, want to report any bugs, or there are any features you would like to see that aren't currently available on the Toolserver tools, see the updated FAQ or contact me on my talk page. Mr.Z-bot (talk) (for Mr.Z-man) 05:01, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.
Contests
User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. Would anybody here be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:02, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

2016 Community Wishlist Survey Proposal to Revive Popular Pages
Greetings WikiProject Ivory Coast/Archive 1 Members!
This is a one-time-only message to inform you about a technical proposal to revive your Popular Pages list in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:
If the above proposal gets in the Top 10 based on the votes, there is a high likelihood of this bot being restored so your project will again see monthly updates of popular pages.
Further, there are over 260 proposals in all to review and vote for, across many aspects of wikis.
Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.
Best regards, Stevietheman — Delivered: 18:02, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

Popular pages report
We – Community Tech – are happy to announce that the Popular pages bot is back up-and-running (after a one year hiatus)! You're receiving this message because your WikiProject or task force is signed up to receive the popular pages report. Every month, Community Tech bot will post at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ivory Coast/Archive 1/Popular pages with a list of the most-viewed pages over the previous month that are within the scope of WikiProject Ivory Coast.
We've made some enhancements to the original report. Here's what's new:
- The pageview data includes both desktop and mobile data.
- The report will include a link to the pageviews tool for each article, to dig deeper into any surprises or anomalies.
- The report will include the total pageviews for the entire project (including redirects).
We're grateful to Mr.Z-man for his original Mr.Z-bot, and we wish his bot a happy robot retirement. Just as before, we hope the popular pages reports will aid you in understanding the reach of WikiProject Ivory Coast, and what articles may be deserving of more attention. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at m:User talk:Community Tech bot.
Warm regards, the Community Tech Team 17:15, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject
The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.
Portals are being redesigned.
The new design features are being applied to existing portals.
At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.
The discussion about this can be found here.
Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.
Background
On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool
Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.
We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

User script to detect unreliable sources
I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like
- John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (
John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.
)
and turns it into something like
- John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14.
It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.
The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.
Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.

Project-independent quality assessments
Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class=
parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.
No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.
However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom
parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present. Aymatth2 (talk) 16:01, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
Women in Green's 5th Edit-a-thon
Hello WikiProject Ivory Coast:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2023!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2023, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!
