Federal Police Article
editDone Article merged and redirected to Law enforcement agency. List of federal law enforcement agencies and (the same) List of federal police agencies are also in place. Note that there is also a new article Federal law enforcement in the United States. See also Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of federal police agencies.
This article is only a stub and as it stands has a problem dealing with federal LEAs as distinct from federal police agencies. It seems to be mainly a header for a list of agencies, and hence simplistic. To tidy it up really needs to have its context broadened to properly explain how federal, police and non police, agencies relate to other law enforcement agencies. This has now been done in Law enforcement agency.
The list does not really add any knowledge about agencies. Some the agencies listed are dead links. The list is really just a category.
What I want to do is remove this article altogether now, convert the "list" to a cleaned up category, and replace dead links with stub articles. Any new federal police agencies should be created as articles, even if only stubs, and categorised. I would propose having two tidied up categories, one for federal LEAs and one for police agencies.
Post Script: The "main article"s for the tidied up categories would be sections in Law enforcement agency Pee Tern (talk) 07:01, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
- This discussion belongs on the talk page of the article to be merged. Many users go right to the talk page to look for the discussion and assume there isn't one if it isn't there. Providing a link on the talk page to the discussion is cool.
- This article is a list, and should be merged into List of law enforcement agencies, except for the lead which should remain as a stub. The Transhumanist 23:35, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
- The list I am happy to merge as suggested. I will still create a category. The stub will go and be redirected. Pee Tern (talk) 01:06, 22 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
- Merge - Merge to Law enforcement Agency that makes sence. --Tomb of the Unknown Warrior tomb 05:19, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

National Police Article
editDone Article merged and redirected to Law enforcement agency. List of national law enforcement agencies and (the same) List of national police agencies are also in place. See also Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of federal police agencies.
Ditto Federal Police Article.

- You don't need approval to create or add to categories. The links in the see also section should be checked for inclusion in List of law enforcement agencies. This stub should be rewritten, or redirected to Law enforcement agency. The Transhumanist 00:35, 22 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
- The list I am happy to merge as suggested. I will still create a category. The stub will go and become a disambiguation page Law enforcement agency and Police.
- I have some concerns regarding your word changing though. I too was thinking of changing the definitive type title to civilian too, BUT I think change the names of the police organisations is wrong. Pee Tern (talk) 01:10, 22 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Civil police Article
editDone
Ditto Federal Police Article.
This article is only a stub and as it stands has a problem dealing with other police agency types. It seems to be mainly a header for a list of agencies, and hence simplistic. To tidy it up really needs to have its context broadened to properly explain how, police and non police, civil and military, agencies relate to other law enforcement agencies. This has now been done in Law enforcement agency. Anyhtin else at a more detailed level should be in the Police article, to which Civil police should redirect to.
The list does not really add any knowledge about agencies. The list is really just a category.
What I want to do is remove this article altogether now, convert the "list" to a cleaned up category. Any new civil police agencies should be created as articles, even if only stubs, and categorised. I would propose having two tidied up categories, for civil LEAs and one for military LEAs.
The "main article"s for the tidied up categories would be sections in Law enforcement agency and Military police.

- This should be retained as a stub, or made into a disambiguation page. At least, it could be redirected to Police. The Transhumanist 00:42, 22 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
- Civil Police has been cleaned out and redirection to Police.
- Civilian Police also now redirects to Police.
Disambiguation Done
Law Enforcement currently redirects to Police. This is not correct. There are many other law enforcement concepts and articles.
I suggest that Law Enforcement should go to a disambuguation page with, for example:
- Agency
- Powers
- Law enforcement and society
- Law and Government

- See for example User:Pee Tern/Sandbox/lea dab Pee Tern (talk) 00:09, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
- Or a law enforcement article. A disambiguation page is a good temporary solution. The Transhumanist 00:39, 22 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Semi Semantic Wiki
editCan any one tell me how to use and utilise category intersections ?
Pee Tern (talk) 06:59, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
- What is a "category intersection"? The Transhumanist 00:39, 22 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
- I now know that it is as follows: Search Help desk for: category intersection. and, go to WP:EIW#Cat and scroll down a few lines to the "Intersection of two categories" subheading, which mentions CatScan and some related links, and for example Wikipedia:Category intersection. Standardisation of Jurisdiction Attributes for All LEA Article Pages
editI would also like to suggest that there is a standard table to be uncluded in all LEA pages. This will standardise information about the LEA, make it always avaialable in the same place and in the same format. Populating this table would also allow a controlled way of putting LEA pages into standardised categories.
- What one learns! The first attempt, now no good at all is gone for good.
- A much better one is in User:Pee Tern/Sandbox/Template/Infobox Law enforcement agency. Comments please.

LEA Powers
editDone Article now exists as Law enforcement agency powers.
I would also like to set up a table analgous to the jurisdiction table above for LEA Powers. It might have three columns, powers (arrest, detention, warrants, assumed identities, controlled ops, etc.) , enabling legislative instrument/s, and notes.
