Proposed merger to Pocket pets work group

edit

Considering that the entire scope of this project is contained within that of the above-named group, I would propose that the two groups merge, either with this group directly merging into the above group, or, alternately, that this project merge as a separate subproject of Wikipedia:WikiProject Mammals. Doing either would reduce the amount of banner clutter, and probably increase the likelihood of getting a greater number of editors involved in the articles. I would welcome any responses. Thank you. Probably the best bet from all perspectives. -Pumpmeup 04:08, 14 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I see the comment on the work group page, but fail to see any justification as to how 90% of Glires would qualify as pocket pets. Until there is a rodent/lagomorph subproject or workgroup, the appropriate wikiproject remains WP:MAM. --Aranae (talk) 16:28, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
The name was chosen on the basis of that being the name the project was proposed under on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals page. If anyone can think of a better name for the group, I think we are all open to suggestions. However, it did make sense that the new group take the name it was given when people first signed up for it. John Carter (talk) 17:09, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
The proposal was for a project on pocket pets. That should be the scope of the project. --Aranae (talk) 17:34, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Actually, as the maintainer of the proposals page, I can say only the initial proposal was for a group of that size. I believe all the members of the proposal agreed to the existing arrangement. That name was used because it is the only name I can think of including both lagomorphs and rodents. Again, if you can think of a different one, I'm sure we're all open to suggestions. Black squirrel

edit

Can someone who knows something about squirrels sort out the black squirrel page? It's just become a list of where people have spotted black squirrels. It is clearly not encyclopaedic in content. Is there actually more that can be written about black squirrels or should it just be merged with the eastern gray squirrel page? AstroMark (talk) 12:28, 2 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Assessment

edit

If the members of the project wish to use it, the Template:Mammal, the project banner for WikiProject Mammals, now has been set up to allow for separate assessments for this project as well, although not all the categories have yet been created. If the members of this project would want to use it, I could create the relevant categories. You can see the banner in use at User talk:John Carter/Mammals. Western Gray Squirrel

edit

I and others noticed that the picture on the western gray squirrel was actually a picture of an eastern gray. I found a Forest Service picture and changed it, however, there is still a mislabeled picture in the wikimedia commons http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:WesternGraySquirrel.jpg. —Preceding unsigned comment added by EnzianBlue (talkcontribs) 22:03, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Rodents

edit

I've proposed a new WikiProject Rodents, which would effectively absorb this project, over at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Rodents. Please feel free to comment there or add your name! -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 00:24, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

First annual Tree of Life Decemberween contest

edit

After all the fun with the Spooky Species Contest last month, there's a new contest for the (Northern hemisphere's) Winter holidays at Wikipedia:WikiProject Tree of Life/Contest. It's not just Christmas, but anything festive from December-ish. Feel free to add some ideas to the Festive taxa list and enter early and often. --Nessie (talk) 20:30, 12 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
