Article Importance

For those who are not familiar, most projects tag their corresponding articles with either Top, High, mid or Low priority. So, if we're going to tag a lot of articles, which ones should which?

  • TOP - The systems, Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto, Mario, Link, Luigi and other franchise characters, all the franchises
  • HIGH - All first party games, major characters
  • MID - Second and third party games, other characters
  • LOW - Items, low characters, games made for other systems but were released on Nintendo

UPDATE - I changed the template so now it will include Assessment, etc should people wish to add them.

Opinions? -- Scorpion0422 22:00, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure about the structure of WikiProjects and page importance tags, but Wikipedia:WikiProject Computer and video games is already tagging articles such as Mario with these tags. Do we really need to tag them too? Jecowa 05:23, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Mario Party articles in need of formatting

Almost all the games of Mario Party series needs a table format or some kind of format for the mini-games. Long lists of games aren't helping the articles much. RobJ1981 19:18, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't think we schould include a list of all the mini-games (regardless if they are in a table or not), as it would make the article a lot more crufty...--TBCΦtalk? 03:49, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Llama Man and myself (well, okay, mostly Llama Man) have been working to clear this up on the Mario Party articles. currently we're trying to remove all lists and replace where warranted with a brief paragraphical description; it's not gamefaqs, after all. there's been some opposition but on the whole they're looking a whole lot better.

Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 17:06, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Charizard importance

Four projects (PCP, CVG, Japan, and Nintendo) have rated Charizard. The first three label it mid-importance, while the fourth labels it low-importance. Shouldn't it be mid-importance? Japan has a bigger scope than this project...so mid-importance should be the importance level! «TTV»(talk|contribs|email) 23:11, 30 December 2006 (UTC)/WP:PCP

Everybody Votes

The creator of this article keeps insisting that it deserves an article, even though it's only 1 small paragraph and is already covered in its entirety at Wii Channels. I redirected the page, but he keeps acting like i'm deleting it and won't listen to reason (I even explained that redirecting is not deleting, and that the page offers nothing different than the Wii Channels page). He doesn't seem to want to discuss it on his talk page or at the Wii Channels talk page (where I told him to discuss it). If anybody could help (advice on how to deal with him, some of you maybe talking to him). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by TJ Spyke (talkcontribs) 03:43, 14 February 2007 (UTC).

What's the appeal with Smash Bros?

I'm going to first off declare my intent to play the newbie card of not knowing where I should post this. But I wanted to know what makes the Smash Bros series so popular? I've played it for N64 about three time and liked it, but haven't had much to do with Nintendo til I get my Wii for x-mas =D Love it, btw. The new Smash Bros. is coming out this year and I'd appreciate it if someone wrote a section in that article detailing the exact appeal of the game. People like me would appreciate the little extra reading! Fadedroots 23:25, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't think that the appeal of Super Smash Bros. is worthy of an encyclopedia. It's too subjective. I would suggest you search on Google for reviews or blogs or something of that nature. Something like, "It's a fun game when you have some friends over" should not be in Wikipedia. Useight 18:55, 28 March 2007

Requesting Assessment

Hello, a number of us have completely revamped and updated the List of Wii games. It didn't have a WikiProject Nintendo tag before, but it does now. I'd like for someone to rate the article from WikiProject Nintendo (I've requested a re-rating from the CVG Portal), if possible. I'm not sure if the members here still assess Nintendo articles or not, but if so your help (and comments for improvement) will be most helpful. Thanks. -Digiwrld1 13:13, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

I have made it my personal task to eradicate all red links found game lists for Nintendo consoles. I will not be adding articles haphazardly with little to no information in them just to "get them up there". Some of my recent additions include Deathbots, and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (video game) both for the NES. I will be starting with the NES and working my way upward with consoles and handhelds. Anyone who is interested in joining my effort is welcome to do so, should they perform under the same standards that I am. If you plan on just creating "placeholder" articles for red links, please don't. This just makes them more difficult for me to find (because now they are stubs rather than red links). Jmeriot 18:56, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Would you be willing to work backwards, starting with the Wii and going back to the NES? I suggest it because the Wii is a more current topic and as such more people will be using it for reference. There are a tremendous amount of redlinks/stubs there and I think it would be great if you and others could help put up article for these games.
I don't think I'll be able to put in as much effort as you on this task (I'll contribute here and there), but to start I can go through and give you a list of articles that need to be created from the List of Wii games. -Digiwrld1 05:48, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes and no. While I agree that Wii is a more current topic, anyone who is willing to help out certainly can use that as a starting point. I would prefer to focus on the NES list first for a few reasons. I grew up on the NES and therefor I have a sort of bond with it, also I'm a bit of a retro-gamer. While I have no objections to me working on the Wii list simultaniously, (I just added an article for Treasure Island Z today), I'd also prefer to focus on the NES list because the information is static. Meaning - the Wii games that are red links or stubs are mostly that of yet to be released titles or Japanese exclusives which would have limited information that is subject to change. The NES games however, have all been released, and therefor there is no reason an article isn't released for everyone (the same stands true for the SNES, GB, etc. as well). Again, I'd like to create full articles, not quick filler stubs, when possible.
On a side note, my two newest additions are All-Pro Basketball, and Arkista's Ring. I hope you take the time to check them out (and possibly add something!)

Game Boy micro

i need your help, the Game Boy micro is under Game Boy Micro. this is wrong as the offical name for the device is micro wqith a lower case. thank you for your time. HHS.student

It looks like it has been discussed to death at Talk:Game Boy Micro, with numerous move proposals and everything. Anomie 17:02, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
According to the discussion there, it sounds like the consensus was to move it to "micro", but nobody did. Useight 19:18, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Which discussion? This one is 2 to 1 for Micro, this is 3 to 0 for Micro, and this is again 2 to 1. Feel free to post yet another move request, I suppose. Anomie 19:58, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
The correct article name is Game Boy Micro. Although it may be trademarked "micro", our own naming policies and guidelines (especifically, Wikipedia:Naming conventions, Wikipedia:Manual of Style (trademarks) and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (capitalization) states we must use proper case even if the trademark owner wants another type of capitalization (in example, XBOX, but we write Xbox instead). Hope that clarifies the matter. -- ReyBrujo 02:16, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Then why is there an article called iPhone rather than Iphone? Should that one be changed? Useight 16:43, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

A comment about Wii Points on several Nintendo articles

I made a comment here: Talk:List of Virtual Console games (North America)#Wii Points doesn.27t need to be listed. But I thought I would get some extra input here. Basically to sum it up (if you didn't read my post on that talk page): how much Wii Points the Virtual Console games cost, doesn't needed to be listed. They are downloads, but look at just about any video game article: no prices are listed. I would've removed it, but I'm sure people would've reverted it. This same thing applies to the Wii Points and Virtual Console article, and the other country lists for VC games as well. Maybe someone can think of a reason to keep it on: but I highly doubt listing prices is encyclopedic. It's helpful, but this is an encyclopedia: not a guide to prices. I can understand keeping the prices of the Wii points cards in general: but not game prices. If they are kept, then people might as welll list on every article the game cost $50 or whatever. A download shouldn't make it an exception to the rule, period. In other examples: movie articles don't have prices, nor do CD articles. In comparision to other actual downloads: I haven't checked that, but I'm sure a mass listing of prices doesn't exist on the articles. RobJ1981 19:26, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Merge Proposal

Following the suggestions of various Wikipedians, I've created a Comparison of Wii Games to complement the current List of Wii games. It allows for additional details to be listed that could not have been fit into the current list, such as Controllers used, Number of Players, and any features.

I believe that one comprehensive list is superior to 3 separate lists for both readers wanting to know more about Wii games as well as editors wanting to contribute and collaborate. As such I am proposing that the List of Wii Wi-Fi Connection games, the List of widescreen Wii games, and the List of Wii games using Miis be merged into the Comparison of Wii Games.

I would really appreciate it if you could leave your comments and votes at the Comparison of Wii Games Talk PageDigiwrld1 22:39, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Need Help on the SMW article

I need help on the gameplay section of the Super Mario World (SMW) article. This section in the SMW article, as the "unreferenced-section" ta describes, need to cite it's references and/or sources. Virtual Console game list sort conflicts

There is currently debate at Talk:List of Virtual Console games (North America)#Alphabatize about how to sort the sortable list of games. On one hand, there is a preference to list all of the released games together in one table. On the the other hand, some people, intmidated by the appearance of one large table, insist on separating the list into five tables, each grouping the games by their original systems, which ruins the potential to sort the games as a whole. I am asking for help in resolving the issue. --Brandon Dilbeck 22:21, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

It doesn't seem like too much is being organized for WPN, and if no one is currently running the show, I'd love to step up to help out all of Wiki's Nintendo pages. So, if no one replies to this saying that thety are the leader within a couple days, I'll be organizing some stuf on the Project Page. Miles Blues 17:02, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Removing WP:Nintendo templates

An editor recently removed the WikiProject Nintendo template from Talk:3-D WorldRunner, stating that the game's only connection to Nintendo (having been released on a Nintendo system) is not enough to warrant the template. However, an incredibly large amount of similar articles are tagged with the Nintendo template without anyone removing it. This includes Good and Featured Articles such as several Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger. Should the Nintendo templates be removed from them? Kariteh 08:57, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

IMO, at least NES and SNES-era games should be in this project since Nintendo insisted on approving every single game before allowing it to be made. I do not know whether this policy continued for the N64 and on. Anomie 12:52, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
