Suburbs

First off, nice work on the suburb categories Shinjiman.

I'd like to help you out with WikiProject Perth. You might have noticed that I started the list of Perth suburbs and created stubs for a lot of those suburbs, I just haven't had a chance (or the motivation) to create the rest. For information about the suburbs I've found DOLA, REIWA and the local councils websites have been useful, although I've still got to read the copyright info for DOLA. If you need assistance with anything please let me know, otherwise I'm going to continue adding suburbs. Meesham 09:42, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Is there anyone have the comments about the Article naming for the suburbs? Seems some names are names as [Suburb A, Western Australia], but some of them are named [Suburb B, Australia] or [Suburb C]. Is that we need to unite them to a uniform naming conveetions?? :) Shinjiman 16:20, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

When I started adding some I only added Australia or Western Australia to disambig with other articles. Other editors have been changing some of them over to [Suburb, Western Australia], and for ones that I've been working on recently I've been changing them over to that format too. I think [Suburb, Western Australia] would be the best format, so that would be my vote. Meesham 16:38, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Support. :D Shinjiman 03:42, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)

If we don't get any other responses in the next couple of days we should probably just go ahead with changing them, I've already been changing a couple as I go along.

I think South Perth is now a good example of what we should try to aim for for atleast the local council pages, maybe all of the suburb pages. This is thanks mainly to an anonymous user (203.59.82.69) who added a lot of the history, although finding history for the other suburbs will probably be difficult. The only thing that page is missing now in my opinion is a map of the area, showing the boundaries of the suburb and/or the local council. It could probably also do with a bit more information about the current state of South Perth, like popular areas etc (I'm not too sure, as I'm a northerner :) ) Meesham 10:32, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi guys, I've finally worked out how to contribute (I think I've got it right!) to this page. I only recently discovered the Wikipages and more as an experiment than deliberate intent, I decided to add some material to the South Perth page. Mainly this was because my Wife works for the City and I pick up lots of useful history and information. The COSP webpage has a lot of information about suburb and street name history; I know because I did a lot of web research for her at home. The pages are buried very deep in the website but are worth searching for. The REIWA website is singularly unhelpful. I've also done a bit on Waterford, for the same reasons as above, and also added some stuff about Dianella. --Robert Fraser 07:49, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Suburb Infoboxes

Like the infoboxes for the train/bus stations, should there be one for suburbs? Such contents could be name, a picture with the dot on where the suburb is, public transport in the suburb, parks, gardens, lakes, attractions etc?

EDIT: Found one that exists, tried an example with Innaloo, Western Australia Trisreed my talk my contribs 09:38, 30 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

You may want to move this to the bottom of the page; it's hard to find up here mixed with discussion from six months ago. The Innaloo box isn't bad, but we've already spent quite a bit of time working on a suburb box for Canberra (c.f. Yarralumla). Ambi 09:55, 30 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
I suggested the template can use in different colours, representing the local government respectively. Like Stirling can use blue/green, Bayswater can use yellow/green, Perth can use red/yellow/black, Victoria Park can use yellow/green/blue can Canning use red/white, etc, etc... --Shinjiman 11:18, 30 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
I edited the info for Innaloo especially surrounding suburbs as they where to in accurate also calculated the approx area. [1] Whereis site is great for accuirate locating surrounding burbs. Gnangarra 10:59, 15 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes looks good and this would be a useful addition. Personally I'm not a big fan of those dot maps, but thats just my opinion. The REIWA site [2] also has some figures for population, median house price, distance from GPO etc. Cheers Nachoman-au 12:31, 30 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Added and changed parts to suggestions. It is also set so that the dot map is based on the name of the council. Trisreed my talk my contribs 09:22, 31 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

No Dot Map - Find a free alternative to this? Maybe a similar picture of the zoomed out metro area? Boochan 11:08, 31 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

How about a representative picture instead of the dot? I tried for characteristic images for Mt Lawley, Inglewood and, to a lesser extent, Cottesloe. More informative than a dot, and once the Kvaleberg extension (the -Template that gives locations such as 31°57′07″S 115°51′32″E / 31.952°S 115.859°E / -31.952; 115.859) is implemented fully (like in the German wikipedia; see the top of this page for example), the dots may well be irrelevant - Gobeirne 18:09, 31 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Great Idea. We got pictures of all the train/bus stations, so why not try and get indivdual pictures of places in suburbs that are well known? Boochan 23:28, 31 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • Good suggestion Boochan, Perth suburb photo requests section will be add to the info box pageUser:Gnangarra/Suburbs. For those dont know me I drive school buses SOR so I spend a lot time moving around the burbs with plenty of breaks between jobs. If you leave a request on the page When the opportunity arises i'll get some photos Gnangarra 09:56, 10 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Expansion of suburb articles

I have expanded quite a few articles, including: Shenton Park, Western Australia Floreat, Western Australia Jolimont, Western Australia Daglish, Western Australia Highgate, Western Australia Karrakatta, Western Australia Wembley Downs, Western Australia. I was just wondering if the way i have done these is alright and if not, please feel free to add/change them. Thanks --Ali K 08:57, 23 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

They're not a bad start, but doing articles in list form is generally frowned upon. Would it be possible to write them in prose? The information about traffic lights and roundabouts probably isn't particularly encylopedic, but the rest of it is good. If you want an example to go by, you may want to have a look at some of those already started, whether they be shortish (such as Phillip, Australian Capital Territory) or already finished (such as Waterfall Gully, South Australia. Ambi 09:18, 23 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks for the info. Do you think it would be ok to keep the bold subjects, for example education, but then instead of having dot points write the information in prose? Thanks--Ali K 11:39, 23 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
They're usually done with headings (which you can add by typing, say, ==Education==), rather than bold subjects, but sure. I'm not sure whether you'd have quite enough information to warrant it (maybe a paragraph might be enough), but you're the author, so it's your call entirely. :) Ambi 11:48, 23 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Like Ferndale, it's a good point to start a suburb article in a paragraph form instead of the list. It's also a good idea to put a infobox to those suburbs. :) --Shinjiman 16:41, 23 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
With the infobox, how do i find the information for median house price and area?? Also, maybe someone wouldn't mind helping me add tables and changing the information into paragraph form?--Ali K 07:30, 24 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Also, how would I find out the information about the population, size, telephone exchange, schools, and Suburb establishment (it is not the same as establishment of local government)? --Shinjiman 04:08, 28 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
The first three: reiwa.com.au; schools: street directory and establishment is listed in various places. If you go onto Google Earth, placemarks are at all the exchanges, the one the suburb is closest to would be the one it is Trisreed <small>my talk my contribs</small> 08:50, 28 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps the template could be modified to use the IF conditional thingy so unpopulated parameters don't show up (if you know what I mean) ? Nachoman-au 09:21, 28 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
It's now done using the CSS class "hiddenStructure" to hide non used parameters. --Shinjiman 13:23, 28 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Seems some facilities can be found in Transperth map, which is in the website, a Java software is required. (To Trisreed: seems your signature is broken :D) --Shinjiman 14:14, 28 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Coincidently, I was just about to do that since I did it to Template:Infobox_Network. Also, I just fixed the signature yesterday. ~ Trisreed my talk my contribs 06:22, 29 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Suburb for Perth Airport and Newburn

I've found out there's a suburb called Perth Airport, and its postcode is 6105. Is that really exist at this moment? and also, I also cannot find the suburb called Newburn (its postcode is 6104), but I've found out this suburb exists in the old version of Perth map (around 1990s version), is that really exists nowadays?--Shinjiman 16:53, 10 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Perth Airport is a suburb, I've never seen a recent map with Newburn on it: I tried to change links to Perth Airport from Newburn but they were changed back. ~ Trisreed my talk my contribs 01:38, 12 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • This is what I knew, when I worked out at a customs agency(1986-1988) near the Int air port the area was known as Newburn all businesses on Horrie Miller drive had the address as Newburn. Businesses on the Domestic side where in Redcliffe. South Guildford encompassed the Eastern side of the airport along the City of Swan boundary. Gnangarra
  • Now according to the 2005 Street Smart directory Perth airport encompasses the industrial area east of tonkin hwy and north of Abernethy road West of Kalamunda road except the High Wycombe residentual area and the Cemetery the zigzags south great eastern hwy. The change would have occured when the Airport was leased to Federal Airports Corporation. Looking at the maps the boundaries appear to be the same. There is no referrence to Newburn in the directory. Gnangarra
  • From this I say we use PERTH AIRPORT as the BURB and Facility combined. Gnangarra 03:10, 12 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Completed Suburbs

The project page for WP:PERTH shows a progress bar with 94 of 350 suburb articles being listed as complete. Where is the list of complete suburb articles, and how do we add one or increase the counter if we have completed another? I have just expanded Ballajura quite a bit. -- Renesis13 09:22, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Naming conventions of Perth suburbs and Perth LGAs

It's quite common that one of the Perth suburb is the name of LGAs. Is that needed to disambig (split) the articles that explaining the suburb itself, and the other explaining the LGA? And also some LGAs is not containing the suburb itself, is that better to change the article name to the LGA name (like [City of ..., Western Australia], [Town of ... Western Australia] and [Shire of ..., Western Australia])?--Shinjiman 04:58, 30 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

For example, if the article is named Cockburn, Western Australia, it's heard that this is the suburb of Western Australia. However if the name is City of Cockburn, Western Australia, it is more clear that this is the LGA in Western Australia.--Shinjiman 05:01, 30 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Definitely I think use suburb, WA for suburbs and City/Town/Municipality of ... If the suburb is also and LGA, I think they should be separate articles as they are separate entities as is done in WP:SYD, WP:ADEL, WP:MELB, etc.ßlηguγΣη | Have your say!!! - review me 00:58, 1 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

use of clarifier (xxx ,Western Australia)

I came across this article Perth Airport, its on a redirect from Perth Airport, Western Australia. Places using "Perth" like this should have the clarifier(DAB) added in every case, with redirects coming from the general title. When other Perths add articles the rediect page can become a DAB page. Gnangarra 16:17, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why? Unless it is a seperate suburb as well as an airport, there's really no need. Rebecca 03:18, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
There a wider discussion about standardising naming conventions to Australian article taking place at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Australian_places#Lakes.2C_rivers_and_mountains.. please participate there. The concensus reached there will set the requirements for this article anyway. Gnangarra
FYI, Perth Airport is a landmark and Perth Airport, Western Australia is a suburb, and M Johnson made a redirect to the Perth Airport landmark article. However, I think it is necessary to make a seperate article for the Perth Airport, Western Australia, please see also the Newburn, Western Australia article.--Shinjiman 05:53, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Category:Local Government Areas of Perth

And while we're on the subject, I would very much like to see this category obliterated. There are no local government areas of Perth; there are only local government areas of Western Australia that just happen to be in the Perth metropolitan area. How do people feel about me depopulating this into Category:Local Government Areas of Western Australia and deleting it? Hesperian 23:12, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The distinction is useful (and should be maintained) but I agree the above category name is not the way to achieve this. Perth metropolitan area is not a level of government and as such, government units cannot pertain to it. Orderinchaos 01:19, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Any ideas for an alternative?
Category:Local Government Areas of Western Australia in Perth?
Category:Local Government Areas in Perth, Western Australia?
Hesperian 01:41, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I disagree with the above two - Local government areas are throughout the state - the Metro area (including Perth ) is as you say not really a level of government. Looking through the WALGA website - the more important term is metropolitan. I think this stuff is trying to reinvent the wheel when there is all this stuff outside wikipedia that points to this term rather than what we are talking about SatuSuro 02:34, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
To update this - we came to an agreement to extinguish the category and upmerge a few days ago, as a template and list already provide the distinction I was seeking in my above comments. Orderinchaos 00:08, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

House values

The conversation has taken place in other forums as well, but I'm raising this specifically with regard to Perth. Is there a need for the housing value to be in each of the suburb articles? Reason I ask is that it has to be updated every 3 months, but updating 338 articles is actually quite a challenge, especially if the formatting on each article is not the same. I updated any marked (Q2 2006) to (Q3 2006) today. Orderinchaos 03:27, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Newcomer here... For currently, I have doing about the Train Stations and Bus Stations in Perth, which are provided by Transperth. Stations order

As the stations names are shown, which way to shown the direction from/to Perth is better?

Using Perth at the center station order (Perth station at the top)
  • Perth - Armadale
  • Perth - Fremantle
  • Perth - Joondalup
  • Perth - Mandurah
  • Perth - Midland
Using track up-down order (Track-up station on the left and Track-down station on the right)
  • Perth - Armadale
  • Fremantle - Perth
  • Perth - Joondalup
  • Perth - Mandurah
  • Perth - Midland

also, which way to shown the Thornlie Spur Line is better?

  • Cannington - Thornlie (Logically connected adjecent stations, bypassing Beckenham)
  • Beckenham - Thornlie (Physically connected adjacent stations)
I would have Perth-Thornlie Gnangarra 11:04, 15 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dash or Slash

According to the Armadale Line Timetable, the title used is [Armadale / Thornlie Line]; also in the Stopping Pattern in the Armadale Line Timetable, the word [Armadale - Thornlie Line] is used, also this is used on the display in the Perth Station platforms. So which form of display is more correct, a / or a - ??? --Shinjiman 01:28, 6 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Right now, I think they are being treated as 2 separate lines: Armadale Line and Thornlie Line... it's just that they share the same stations all the way to Cannington, and they share the same colour code. I think it would be best to put Armadale/Thornlie Line, as that is what is printed on the front of the timetable, and also the Transperth website. But I think it might be best to wait until something official comes out. Oh and were you there at the Thornlie station opening ceremony this morning? Just wondering... We can do the infoboxes about the train/bus depots, seems the location of the train/bus depots are not very convinent for public transport routes, it's harder to take a photograph as like the stations. --Shinjiman 16:00, 8 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

More about stations...

Maybe you could add whether it is level, underground, or above ground station? Trisreed 05:21, 14 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Well, at the moment, Subiaco is the only underground station (I think), and the new Mandurah rail line will be adding only 2 more (Esplanade and the Perth station's William Street underground platforms). The rest of the stations are ground-level so I don't think there is any point to it. Sandstorm6299 16:48, 17 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Sandstorm's opinion. The underground station can be told in the contents of the page, no idea is that Joondalup Station is also a underground station? (remember sign your name using four tides after discussion) --Shinjiman 01:32, 18 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

I've got a large number of images detailing the construction work for the William St and Esplanade stations up until April this year, when I left Perth. About Train Station succession boxes

U

This is the sample train lines milestone which appears throughout the electric poles in Perth railway lines. The first row indicates the train section. The second and the third rows are indicates the distance from Perth Station. and the fourth row indicates the direction of the line.

According those information on the pole, we can determine the information for the train lines, which includes:

Up track direction Down track direction
Armadale / Thornlie Line to Perth to Armadale or Thornlie
Clarkson Line to Perth to Clarkson
Fremantle Line to Fremantle to Perth
Midland Line to Perth to Midland

In general, up direction are towards Fremantle, and vice versa for down direction. In original, I've created the train station articles according to the train lines track directions order. See also Wikipedia talk:WikiProject_Melbourne/Railway_stations#Up_and_Down for reference about in Melbourne. But however, which way to express the train succession boxes are better? Better need to know the others opinion... --Shinjiman 16:28, 17 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Train Infoboxes

I noticed in the train infoboxes there is a new section called 'SmartRider Format'. Is this needed? Most of the articles have no details for this and 'Fare Gates' has the same purpose ie if there is not fare gates, it is a mobile processor. Trisreed my talk my contribs 08:14, 24 October 2005 (UTC) Reply

Will be fairly important as the Smartrider is released January 2006. Fairly big difference between the two. Boochan 11:48, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I agree... this should definitley be kept. It is much more important than some of the other info on there like phone etc. --Djone2121 11:07, 25 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I think there's may have a duplicate between [Fare Gates] and [Smartrider Format] attribute. A closed station have a fare gates, and a open station doesn't have fare gates; I think it's more important to telling it's a open or closed station rather than there's have fare gates or not. Also I think there's may have some better name rather than [Samrtrider Format], like [Station Architecture] maybe more better than that. --Shinjiman 06:13, 26 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I've implemented the changes for the train station, better saying the [Station structure]. It is because the open/closed station not only applies on the SmartRider holder, also it applies on the other tickets holders including cash tickets and MultiRiders.--Shinjiman 08:48, 30 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Just remembered that something are need to add into the infobox, is that to be suggested to add the new attribute avm (Add Value Machine) [Yes|No] to distinguish the stations have Add Value Machine or not? --Shinjiman 14:34, 30 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Bus services

just a few issues to address

1. should we put all connecting bus services for all stations.. example: Oats Street is considered a station with connecting bus services (with bus stands) but Shinjiman has also put other routes which don't have an allocated official stand i.e. 282 and 283.. so should this be the case for all other stations? e.g. Kenwick is not officially a station with connecting bus services, but 220 passes by the station along Albany Highway

2. the Esplanade Busport page is in a mess, maybe putting all the bus stands in order, then showing which company owns which service by colour? like all sWAn Transit can be in orange, then Southern Coast Transit in red and Path Transit in green? Sandstorm6299 08:50, 27 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

1. It can put all bus connections in the page, But the stand listing is more clear in the article. And also we can put the connection in sentence for other connections. (mostly the stand details are obtained from online PDF timetables.)
2. I agree with this opinion, see here for the contract areas between each contractors. --Shinjiman 09:39, 27 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Past public transport proposal details

Just found out about the past public transport details in 1997, and it's the 10 year plan proposed system for the public transport, I've seen there's much information are included at there.... [3] --Shinjiman 17:00, 18 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Interesting - Like 1 Week after you put this on Wiki, the DPI took it off the site. Guess they forgot that the Court Liberal Governments proposals were still lurking online... lol... Boochan 17:32, 10 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Out of curiosity, what was in the plans, Shinjiman? Ambi 00:38, 11 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Some parts of the proposal are including the details like the new bus fleets, new train sets, CircleRoute, System 21, inter-suburan bus services, minilink service, the improved ferry services. And also including the original Mandurah railway plan from Perth City to Mandurah via Thornlie. Now the System 21 route becomes the high frequency buses route, however some parts like using GPS locater to locate the arrival time on this are only applies on the present CAT routes. The CircleRoute implemented does not serve the Domestic Airport. --Shinjiman 01:50, 11 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
FYI from Boochan, just checked the DPI website, the contents of website is actually token off. However, the contents of these sre still here, it's only achieved into a zip file. [4] --Shinjiman 01:54, 11 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Train stations platforms

Several stations have been changed into tables, however, some tables are broken (table goes to bottom). And a sample article are running in trail expressing the platforms in table. (Broken table: Perth Station by M Johnson, fixed table: Armadale Station by me, and the original text version Midland Station). By comparing these versions, we've got the main difference including:

Text version
  • Flexable width: suitable browsers for any resolutions.
Table version
  • Fixed width: when browsers with large resolutions, the table width will not extended.

It needs to know others comments about the opinions to having a proposed change to stations articles. --Shinjiman 15:17, 23 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Line Naming

I was just looking at Innaloo and Hillarys articles the train line is referred to the joondalup lime on innaloo and the northern line on hillarys what should the train lines be referred to as. i've always thought they are midland, armadale, freo, joondalup and now mandurah. Can someone confirm the names and then we need to ensure the suburbs are consistant with what ever format Gnangarra 10:08, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

The lines are indeed the Joondalup, Midland, Fremantle, Armadale, Thornlie, and Mandurah lines. These are the official names. Sandstorm6299 10:12, 21 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

New Line Templates

Arnzy has recently introduced a new template to the Perth station page. I have readily accepted this change, and I have even contributed to it by adding several things to it. But now I have found that I may have added more additions than necessary. I would like to know what is truly necessary? Obviously, we need the line, previous and next stations, and the colours. Will it be necessary to fit in the patterns and zones as well? (see Claisebrook to see what I am referring to.)

I have found the previous template more than adequate, but Arnzy may have changed to this template to make all rail line templates in wikipedia the same. Sandstorm6299 10:12, 21 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

At previously as I've created those pages, I used the box without including/using any templates, and this will add the flexability to including the zonal information for the station and the neighbour stations. --Shinjiman 02:53, 22 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nice job Trisreed on adjusting the template. I guess I'm not very good at creating a good one. I'll get back to my usual updating and editing. Thanks again for clearing the terrible attempt I made! Sandstorm6299 13:53, 23 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nice job Trisreed to having a nicer template that including the zonal information for the current station and adjacent stations, as per Sandstorm6299, I am just only adding the information, however the new template used (as of Arnzy's revision) makes too cluttered. --Shinjiman 00:51, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi guys, a short intro, I'm Arnzy, and in general I'm a railfan that has travelled on Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth systems. Getting onto things, as you all know, I was the one to implement this style of template to keep it to consistency with most other rail systems. However, the improvements to the template have been good ones as it does suit the Transperth rail system perfectly with the many running patterns and so on. Good work. --Arnzy (whats up?) 11:45, 27 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I applied the template to all stations on the Joondalup Line. --Arnzy (whats up?) 12:24, 27 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Applied template to all stations on Armadale/Thornlie Line. Sandstorm6299 17:37, 27 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Applied template to Fremantle Line, Mandurah Line and Midland Line as well. Sandstorm6299 20:42, 27 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have adapted the new Transperth template and made one for the Transwa services (see the Transwa template). Hope this keeps a bit more uniformity between the metro and regional rail services in the Perth pages. Now only the Indian Pacific is left, but it would be pretty weird to change only the WA pages (East Perth and Kalgoorlie) since the rest of the stations are in SA and NSW. Garden City Bus Station!??

I've seen this article, seems the name has been changed into Garden City Bus Station by Bergoine, is that the name of the station has been changed? Seems these changes is not verifiable, and cannot found in the Transperth website, which is in official. --Shinjiman 17:55, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

According to the official website, it is Booragoon Bus Station. Would Bergoine like to have a say to whether the change is right? (It could be possible that the change has not yet been reflected in the website). I would change it back to Booragoon Bus Station, and if there is proof that it is changed, then I will gladly change it back.

I have reverted the following: Booragoon bus station, Perth, Cannington railway station, Perth, Esplanade Busport, Perth, Canning Bridge bus station, Perth, Curtin University bus station, Perth, Murdoch Park 'n' Ride, Perth, Rockingham bus station, Success Park 'n' Ride, Perth and List of Perth bus stations Sandstorm6299 11:56, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Although located at Garden City, even when I lived there in the mid-80s it was always just Booragoon Bus Station. I've checked a few timetables on Transperth's website and they all use the same terminology. I think it's safe to change back, but perhaps put a divert at Garden City Bus Station (for whatever reason) so those who go there get sent to Booragoon. Orderinchaos78 14:10, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Train station sucession boxes

Some changes to the succession boxes for the station made by yours truly make the Joondalup line head in the same direction of Fremantle, as they do in real life. So the revised track direction looks like this;

Up track direction Down track direction
Armadale / Thornlie Line to Perth to Armadale or Thornlie
Clarkson Line to Clarkson to Perth
Fremantle Line to Fremantle to Perth
Midland Line to Perth to Midland

This doesn't have appeared to have caused any conflicts, so it will stay like this hopefully.

Also, regarding the Mandurah line, when it does come into service we should have the track direction the same way as Armadale/Thornlie and Midland, since it heads in that direction, and the Clarkson line will carry on to Mandurah--M W Johnson 06:59, 9 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Actually, which way is better way to represent the succession boxes? By train lines accuracy (my box mentioned in above discussion, ordered in track up/down terminology) or by real life represents (your table above)? --Shinjiman 07:48, 9 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Confusing Train Station Navigation Boxes

For someone who is not from Perth, I find the new railway station navigation boxes confusing - for someone unfamiliar with the railway line stop categorisations, even if you can go to the Line page and look at it, it is very confusing if all you want to know is what the adjacent stations are Every other railway system with pages on Wikipedia does it this way and it is a lot easier to navigate. I suggest you put them back to just show the next station on each page or find a way to put the letter codes and the next stations on the navigation table. (JROBBO 01:30, 8 June 2006 (UTC))Reply

Well, we tried making it as simple and yet as comprehensive as possible so that we would cover every bit of information on the routes. I don't seem to see anyway to improve it, but maybe that's because I'm from Perth, so that's why I can't pick out the bad points. Maybe you could suggest what could be done to improve it. I'm sure people here will be willing to discuss.

Improvements and feedback on Warwick railway station, Perth

This article has been bugging me for a few days since I saw the extremely poor state it's history section was in (only a single line). Since then I've given it a massive kick in the bum, and after collecting what I knew about the station and matching it up to information found at LISWA this afternoon, the section has been totally re-written from scratch including appropriate referencing and whatever else was warranted. Transperth line colours

In thinking about the coming opening of the Mandurah line, I’ve begun to wonder about the most appropriate way to represent it when updating my map of the railways (see Transperth Trains), so I thought I’d bring it here. Even though the Joondalup and Mandurah lines are to form one complete north-to-south route (and, indeed, already do as far as Esplanade), Transperth have chosen to give each of them an individual colour. So far, I’ve been showing the Mandurah line separately, in its official colour, but is this the best choice? Is it more important to reflect official usage, or to represent the actual service operated? David Arthur (talk) 23:30, 24 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Perth Streets - an opinion

I recently received this message on my talk page after asking User:SatuSuro if he could provide a reference for the information he added to Forrest Place. Some interesting ideas are brought up, and I thought you guys might want to comment. Thanks, --Ali K 14:15, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Hi Ali, thanks for the message. I was accidentally cruising the Perth Street entries on Perth Stubs. I will refrain what I think of most of the entries. Someone needs to set a much higher standard - if not a template example- just compare St Geos Tce with Murray St and Forrest Place - As for the Forrest Place entry, refs are the last thing I am thinking of when I check the other streets, the inconsistency and mess is more important to cleanup at this stage, it's as though they are not in the same city. One: someone needs to do a template map of the cbd. Two: someone needs to check books rather than links to web pages with almost irrelevent info. There is a very strong need for a very strong editorial broom through the weird and wonderful collection of Perth Stubs. Unfortunately I have neither the time at the moment, or the sufficient sense of humour to cope with issues that will no doubt arise. Maybe someone else will take up the call. Refs later, consistency and thinks to tie it all together like a map or box for each entry.User:SatuSuro 13:58, 15 July 2006 (UTC)"Reply

I personally don't think we need to get too anal about articles about streets. Two to four paragraphs should suffice in most cases. I do feel strongly however that we don't include meaningless lists of "attractions" and every building and church that's situated on them. Perhaps a good place to start is some good existing articles which we can use as references. A few I like are Queen Street, Melbourne, Elizabeth Street, Sydney and best of all Rundle Street, Adelaide. These are about the size and scope I feel comfortable with. George Street, Sydney is too big - I'd drop the attractions section. -- I@ntalk 15:10, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
If we need a sort of sharing of opinions, the quotes from above - queen Street and elizabeth street are too skeletal to serve purpose, I agree with Rundle, but I think there is a place for a shorter attractions on George Street - having walked it many times, and understanding its context historically I would vigorously defend the attractions section. Perth Street Article Titles

Following a recent change - it is obvious a consensus is needed ( possibly with explanation of background - to refer to editors who might not have been part of the extensive issues in the formatting of names of places and things in australia in general) and a policy needs to be made about how Perth streets and article titles fit into the greater scheme of things before we have divergent title usage. SatuSuro 06:10, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Basically this is asking for a consensus for the restoration or addition to all Perth Street names in the CBD to be restored to xxxx, Perth - on the basis that all other capital cities in Australia use this convention, and the potential for confusion is not wanted.
I kinda agree though it should be applied to all metro area streets, including borderline cases like Thomas Road. Wellington and Hay street already need the qualifer anyway. Gnangarra 09:55, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

<-- (edit conflict)*Olive branch I think the bracket street (perth, western australia) convention is a lot cleaner. That also the reasoning for use at WP:Australian places. We also need to consider names like Queen st, Aberdeen st as I think it would be likely that our friends in Scotland will probably have those names. Gnangarra 11:26, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Comment I'm glad to see there's a good discussion going on this - what we all want is the best final result for WikiProject Perth, and there needs to be a balance between names which unnecessarily cause confusion in a worldwide encyclopaedia versus overly unwieldy names that start reading like a postal address. I don't necessarily think ", city name" is the most efficient, but state alone doesn't work if I ever get around to the Streets of Bunbury one (there's about five notables, including Stirling and Wittenoom Streets), while one of Kalgoorlie's most (in)famous is Hay Street. Curiously, the other Perth has a High Street something like our Hay Street Mall, while its other main CBD streets include South Street, King Street and Mill Street. The Tasmanian Perth is too small to have streets that need to be considered in this context, unless someone ever does an article on our now abolished Drummond Street (Leederville Parade). Melbourne, Launceston and Sydney (George Street no less)
So from all of this, what is to be done? I think the fact the other AU cities have reached a consensus should be considered but that we should be flexible enough to be able to cope with any oddities that may arise. i.e. more of a principle than a hard and fast rule. Orderinchaos 13:40, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

So what do people think should be the way we move forward on Perth street/road articles? Orderinchaos 00:35, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

All sounds like ancient history to anyone I guess unless you grew up Pre-1980s. afaik from then on youth culture is generally similar to the rest of the country. To be honest, I think maybe 1/50 people will know what a Grogan is, and these will be the ones that obviously were this subculture in whatever time it was around (I'm guessing late 70s/Early 80s). Insufficent Gay culture in Perth to do any articles, and generally all youth culture in Australia is not city based. Pubs and Clubs are generally not interesting except for maybe history (Perth & Fremantle generally I guess). The local music scene is quite large at the moment, so that would probably be a good one to go with. Radio Station details also would be very useful. Sorry Gobeirne, but the last few suggestions are groups that are probably are remebered by maybe a handful of people in the area. [snip]

Overall, I would personally just stick to music. All the rest of the ideas listed are either [snip] Boochan 13:14, 28 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I initially posted in agreement with Boochan, as he'd mentioned that much above sounded dated, and it was also potentially original research/not NPOV. However, he then edited his post to add some arguments which are just nonsense. None of the suggestions above would be seperate articles, and thus having them being "stubs" is a non-issue; rather, they would form a culture of Perth, Western Australia article. While, as Boochan mentions, there's plenty of room for a good article on the city's music scene, there's also plenty of room for a broader culture article covering not only the music, but the arts, media, and the nightlife. Furthermore, things like the city's gay culture could at least make a good paragraph or too; just because it doesn't interest you doesn't mean it won't interest anyone. Ambi 16:31, 28 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
I will refrain from anything but assert Ambi's last sentence,

and consider "Not needed on Wikipedia" a gross misunderstanding on what it is.vcxlor 00:31, 29 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Well it was a little stupid, and I guess as one article it would be fine. However a lot of it except for generally recent culture (within the last 30 years) will be very hard to come up with unless books can be found, especially sub 1950s. btw, did I say it didn't interest me? No I didn't... I was just suggesting that as single articles they would be stuck as stubs... and generally that is how it is portrated on the main article. btw, the main article also needs fixing. -_- - Anyway, no hard feelings generally - guess it was just misworded how it was edited, thus I get flamed to the shit... sorry it didn't come through like it was ment to. I also agree on a greater presence of articles on the arts & media (Defunct Newspapers, Magazines, etc and Current should be done e.g Daily Mail), but that was not mentioned previously in suggestions, or only briefly with focus on some of the things not NPOV. Plus adding to another thought (though it seems it will probably be irrelevant after reading the above comments =\ ) the presence of american servicemen did major things to everywhere not US-minded they were... lets just get back on the right foot again - Sorry if it was misworded and/or offensive (which I see it seemed to be...) Boochan 10:48, 29 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

The right foot is to realise, whether it's just one art or otherwise, we need to get on with it folks!vcxlor 11:58, 29 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

schools list

This list has been created by d3j4vu I think the format needs to be adjusted to something simpler and have created a discussion on the articles talk page. Before it grows can we get some feed back as to what would be the appropriate format thanks Gnangarra 14:14, 21 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm quite intersted in this area and would like to do some work on it. Before I get started though, there is a lot of overlap between 'Education in Perth' and 'Education in WA'. A lot of what appears in the Perth categories actually also exists in the WA categories. I'm particularly concerned about List_of_schools_in_Western_Australia and List of schools in Perth, Western Australia as everything in Perth is also in WA (and personally I prefer the WA list as it has a lot more info/links in it).
Personally, I don't think we need a seperate list for Perth, I think we could eliminate the Perth categories alltogether, but then it would become something outside the scope of WikiProject_Perth. --frendy 04:48, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Given that Perth is 74% of the state and I would say nearly all of the covered schools will be in the metro (and I agree with your WA suggestion btw) I don't see why it would not come under the WikiProject. Orderinchaos78 21:42, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I guess here is as good a place as any to bring attention to the page Perth. It's a disambigaution page (which is fine), but that means that if someone accidentally uses "Perth" when they want to link to Perth, Western Australia then the reader has to make an unnessessary vist to the dab page. This can be fixed by performing disambiguation link reapir on Perth, using its What links here. I thought it might be a simple job for someone who's interested, a minor way to help this WikiProject.--Commander Keane 19:49, 27 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nhoj1991, I know a couple of Wikipedians in Perth that use MSN (me for one). Probably the best way to find the others is to look at the user and/or talk pages of everyone in the members list to see if they have their MSN details listed. Photo Requests

Recent changes have taken place to the request for photos article, geographical location have been seperated out into categories.

For Western Australia-related articles needing a photograph, use in the talk page, which adds the article needing a photo to Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Western Australia. You can help Wikipedia by uploading freely licensed photographs for these articles to Wikimedia Commons.

The Free Image Search Tool may be able to locate suitable images on other web sites.

The Image Existence Checker shows articles in this list that have images.

Use this method where the request is not an immediate necessity, and on the talk if you have a specific requirement for the photograph then leave a message.

If your request has more immediate need do above and also add a wiki link to the article on the category page as this will cause the page to appear on watchlists thus alerting everybody. Gnangarra 13:55, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

1929, 1979, 2004 Information needed

These three years have celebrations to mark number of years since settlement, 1929 - 100 years, 1979 - 150 years and 2004 - 175 years. Native title

The Noongar federal court ruling should get a mention somewhere, Perth people are probably in the best position to decide where to put it. Thanks. --Peta 23:34, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

At the moment its more a news item, there is most likely going to be further court actions and legislative changes. if anything it warrants its own article. At the moment most of the available information is polarised scary mongering most notably from the real estate industry saying its going to prevent new housing developments and push land values up 20-30%pa until its resolved. Other stories are of access to beaches and rivers being block or restricted to non Noongar people. Besides the decision, mentions of probable appeals and the scary mongers/hysteria theres not enough good information available. Gnangarra 00:57, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
thinking aloud the wikiproject Australian law would be a better group to build this article as its more a court event. Gnangarra 01:05, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Incidentally any beach or park covered by a Town Planning Scheme is not vacant crown land. Therefore the beach at Scarborough and Trigg and a heap of other places would not be open to claim by native title. I think the change that will ultimately arise is that each individual group will have to claim each individual parcel of land within the scheme, and of course that only relates to native title (i.e. traditional usage) rights, it does not confer ownership. Just an opinion from a non-lawyer who has read Mabo and Wik and the native title act when studying about 10 years ago :) Orderinchaos 10:48, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
At the time of my reply that was a comment on the information generally available and that with such information being the mainstay of the details provided an article would develope into farce of misinformed information, that once correct infomation became available edit wars over such details could evlove. Its now subject to an apeal reason being in that the decision is different from those mentioned decisions as it conveys rights over resources, and the ability to restrict useage with requirements for portions to be reserved. WikiProject Western Australia

Am I the first to suggest that this project become for the whole state. Australia project is too focused on Eastern states and this one gets too detailed. It would also help in reaching consensus on a 'national gauge' re. general australian articles with t'othersiders. Fred.e 20:59, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think there's a good call to start a new one, rather than use this one. This one is and should be focused on the city and urban area of Perth. Not sure how to gauge support for such a move though? We have plenty of active WA Wikipedians including some admins and a lot has been moving in the last 2-3 months (I've been working on the Harvey-Waroona and Wheatbelt regions as well as Perth suburbs and some fringe Victorian areas that the Melbourne project have hung up to dry) Orderinchaos 23:20, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I would definately support WikiProject Western Australia! that is a great idea. I don't know how you would get the 'right' to do it though. But your idea is great in theory, and if you need support from me, you have it. Smbarnzy 01:20, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for comments. We can have both projects, silly of me to say change. As well! I'm sure if editors don't have 'right' we can ask an admin. If there is more support I'll lobby the ones I have found so far. There is a lot of WA pages that can be neatly linked together but I don't want to do to much without consensus. Templates coud improve lots areas, for instance, as they have already on this project. Fred.e 17:29, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

This change, proposed by a user for whom this is their only edit of any kind, proposes that every category with the word "Perth" in the title be disambiguated, when in many cases the categories will never exist for any other Perth and there's little to no risk of confusion. I am inclined to oppose in the strongest terms. (No point in replying to this message, reply to the Cfd as above.) Orderinchaos 01:23, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
To provide some balance to this discussion, I have supported the proposal. I consider the Scottish category Category:Natives of Perth to be absolutely unacceptable, so I can't expect my Scottish friends to be much in favour of the Western Australian Category:History of Perth. Hesperian 01:38, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

If the two Perths cannot separate themselves honorably there will be problems - I suggest the Perth in scotland and perth in wa to have qualifiers in the category titles rather than disambigs -sooner than later - notability issues are rubbish - we're on diff sides of this much abused planet... Ratings (Perth-importance=____)

I've rated the importance to WikiProject Perth (as opposed to Australia as a whole) of most suburbs, Transperth entities and local councils for the Perth project after this feature became available in March. Some differentiation was necessary - I ended up with the following schema:

Suburbs and LGAs

  • City of Perth, Perth, Fremantle, list of suburbs - Top
  • Armadale, Cannington, Claremont, Cottesloe, Guildford, Joondalup, Midland, Northbridge, Rockingham, Scarborough - High
  • Big councils - High
  • Key suburbs - Mid
  • Smaller councils - Mid
  • Everything else - Low

Transperth/PTA

  • Transperth and all railway lines, plus Perth railway station - High
  • Key railway stations (termini, Warwick/Whitfords/Stirling/Joondalup/Cannington), CircleRoute, all bus companies, the Busport - Mid
  • Other railway stations and any other transport articles - Low
  • Historic railway stuff - moved to WA Wikiproject.

This is quite arbitrary, so I'm happy to hear feedback, and in particular anything that anyone thinks has been incorrectly rated. If you see a Low suburb that definitely should be Mid, just rerate it yourself (note - only change the Perth-importance tag! All suburbs should be low on the "importance" tag except for our two top ones), but anything involving High and especially Top should go here for discussion. Culture in WA

Hi all... I've just started editing under a username, I was previously known as all sorts of little number groups making small corrections to articles. I'm just dropping a note here regarding the Culture categories. I have created a new category "Culture in Western Australia" to house the cultural sections of the WA and Perth Wikipedia projects, as they all seemed to be floating around ekeing out their own separate existences and were thoroughly tangled! Also sorted out the 100% redundancy between "Media in Perth, Western Australia" and "Radio stations in Perth" - the latter seems a more logical place, and it is a subset of Media in Western Australia anyway. I also note the relative dearth of arts information, and am hoping to get something up on Artrage and FORM soon. If anyone has any suggestions or requests or ideas I'm all ears !

One final thing - "Perth, Western Australia culture" looks awkward and odd. I realise it started off as "Perth culture" and got renamed, but given we have to disambiguate the name maybe "Culture of Perth, Western Australia" would look better? If others agree maybe we can get it speedy renamed. Zivko85 11:52, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Welcome; it is good to have another someone interested in culture and the arts, as it is underappreciated here on Wikipedia. Category:Culture in Perth, Western Australia is a much better name. If you want to, create it and recategorise all the articles from Category:Perth, Western Australia culture, then let us know when the latter category is empty and one of us will delete it. Hesperian 00:34, 23 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikimania 2009

(moved from WT:WA) Hi there, everybody. Are we going to submit a bid for Wikimania 2009? Our bid is fairly well developed and I would be happy to continue with its progress (I have experiences with conferences about 75% of the size of this one). But the important thing is - do we have consensus that we should go through with it? Thanks, Auroranorth 08:43, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment -I hate to be negative, but honestly think we're not ready for this, and not by a long way. Reading the other bids, it seems a core group about a dozen very committed people is needed. I can't see that happening. There's no doubt that Perth has the infrastructure, and perhaps you know something I don't regarding available sponsorship $'s (most other bids seem to have a budget in the region of $250K), but more importantly, almost all of the planning and organisation will need to be done by unpaid local volunteers. I just don't believe you've got the manpower to do it justice. —Moondyne 09:40, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
ResponseHi Moondyne, I respect your concerns that we need more people to help with the project. If we can find them, would it be acceptable to launch an official bid? Regarding the actual bid professionalism, our bid is much better than all but Buenos Aires' bid, and we can easily outdo them. Auroranorth 10:05, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • Object - outright - we (The WA set of editors who happen to occassionally edit wikipedia) do not have any form of corporate or legal identity in any form - or even stand a chance of even being an incorporated body - to which any form of responsible management might be given any credence - I do think that editing the online encyclopedia is a far more productive use of energy than even considering this issue. It has nothing to do with being negative either - cold hard reality of the real world - since when does a rag tag group of editors a professional organisation make? Please lets not waste too much time on this SatuSuro 10:14, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment -I spoke to TheWinchester about 2 months ago on this topic and he got some info from conference organisers which suggested they have the resources to help plan an event on this scale, and could provide government support (i.e. cash) for a bid. Wikimedia Australia is getting going - slowly - and my visit to Melbourne in November should be productive in that sense. I'll make a couple of calls and find out what we can get. Due to his past experience in this area though I'd be happy to defer to TheWinchester on matters relating specifically to organising conferences, as he's actually done it for his employer in times past. We've also had offers from the SA and VIC contingents to help with manpower if we are a competitive bid. (I'll be honest and admit I think Melbourne has a better chance of success, and I'd support them if they were to go forward in our place, but so far they have not indicated any intention to have a bid.) • I can't see me being involved. When it comes to the crunch, I'd rather be at home editing Wikipedia than attending some silly conference on it. Hesperian 12:08, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • You know what, I never thought about it that way. However, as I said before, I will not participate in more conversation here unless another comment is added (i.e. I will not raise more points, and will only comment here if someone else says something). Fremantle Markets

Hi folks - I've written an article on the Freo Markets. Feel free to expand it, add photos, and help me come up with a decent hook for WP:DYK! Cheers :) - Gobeirne (talk) 23:55, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speaking of markets, the Subiaco Pavillion Markets are closing today (Sun 30/12/07). TRS-80 (talk) 23:04, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

WP:Perth/WP:WA

Note:message left at both WT:WA, and WT:Perth

I am here to propose the deletion of the WP:Perth project. My reasons are as follows;

  • It appears to be un-used: no edits to talk page since Jan 18th [9]
  • Any collaboration efforts can be more centrally managed through WP:WA.
  • Most contributors (or previous contributors) of WP:Perth, have since moved to WP:WA.

Any thoughts on this? Thanks. Twenty Years 16:23, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

This thread has been taken up at WT:WA; let's keep the discussion over there, okay? Hesperian 02:40, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
It appears the consensus is not strongly in favour of staying where we are, but is in favour of keeping Perth as a separate category within WP Western Australia. It's been suggested that a task force is the best way to resolve this. As such I propose to relocate WP Perth to Wikipedia:WikiProject Western Australia/Perth task force, redirecting WP:PERTH to that location also, and reserving WikiProject Perth in the event that demand later requires it. (Notifying here as it directly impacts upon this project, but anticipate most discussion will be at WT:WA) Orderinchaos 23:19, 14 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

WP:PERTH

In March we discussed a proposal to drop the WP Perth Project and the consensus was to make it a taskforce of WP:WA. I'm still a bit unclear what that actually means in a practical sense but see we still have all of the Perth quality and importance categories hanging around. Are they really necessary? And is the WP AUS Perth=yes parm necessary also? There just seems to be so much overlap and demarcation with these admin functions it is always confusing. I have no problems with maintaining a separate taskforce talkpage, if that is still the consensus. Moondyne 03:28, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

In the time since 15 March, the talk page over there has seen no genuine activity, and in the year before that had seen little. I personally think the assessment systems should be merged, although a "Perth=yes" could be maintained simply to mark articles of interest to the Perth taskforce. Orderinchaos 04:22, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Agree with OIC. Five Years 16:22, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I concur with the above. Dan arndt (talk) 23:42, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'll start merging the systems then in preparation for such a change. I moved the cats, lists and NAs over last night. Orderinchaos 17:26, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks mate, appreciated. I suppose we also need to manually depopulate Category:Perth articles by importance (573 talk pages). Is there a bot in the house? Moondyne 02:30, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
(Just to update the page - this process was completed and the Perth assessment system has been fully merged into WA, but the Perth=yes tag has been maintained to mark articles of interest to Perth. If the project is revived at a later stage, the importance ratings are consistent enough that we can do an AWB or bot replace. Those with AWB, other toys, or a bit of spare time are welcome to help assess the backlog at Category:Unknown-importance Western Australia articles.) Orderinchaos 05:48, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

The West Australian - 175 Years of Headlines

Hello all - The West currently has a series of scans accessible for various important events over the last 175 years. This is a great opportunity to add information to many of our articles! For example: Meckering, the Melbourne-Evans collision, and Forrest Place. I'm not sure how long this resource will remain available, so we should make the most of it. Cheers - Gobeirne (talk) 20:34, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Perth Oval/Members Equity Stadium pictures

Just wondering if anyone has some good pics of Perth Oval, particularly of the gates on Bulwer St. The Hack 06:19, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Photos required from Perth

I am currently working on many various articles for which I require photos from around the world. I am currently requiring photos from Perth for these articles, and I was hoping that this message would reach a photographer who can take the photos for me. The photos I currently require are listed at User:Russavia/Required_photos#Perth.2C_Western_Australia. If any photographers can assist with this, I would be most appreciative. Please leave any comments or questions for me on my talk page at User_talk:Russavia as I am unlikely to read replies. Thanks in advance for any assistance which can be provided. The Historical Society of Cockburn?

Is anyone here involved with the above society? Just wondering, because I'm planning on going to their next meeting. :-) — Sam Wilson ( TalkContribs ) … 10:29, 10 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

This talk page - needs archiving

It is a great read as to where we have come from - but we need to have some perspective of what we can do now - rather than what we were talking about 3 and 4 years ago - anyone willing to make the cut off point? SatuSuro 09:47, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Good idea. I must admit, however, that I'm not particularly au fait with WP's talk page archiving conventions... I'll look it up, later, if no one else has gotten around to it.... — Sam Wilson ( TalkContribs ) … 10:36, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
