Darn. Did you have to use an image of Hitler that is so poorly sourced (link gives a 404, no photographer, no date, no statement that it comes from the NARA or some such) and that is tagged with an obsolete tag to boot? Lupo 21:58, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

The problem is twofold: first, it showcases the worst of our image archive: poorly sourced (or completely unsourced) images, taken off the web from somewhere, with unverifiable "public domain" or other license claims. Second, the image will be deleted after seven days if the missing source information cannot be supplied by then.

I cannot suggest a replacement photo, though. Someone with access to the NARA archives could probably find a suitable photo. But since Godwin's law about the mention of Nazi or Hitler, why not just use a graphic representation of swearing containing one or two swastikas? Something like "!卐@#¿卐"? I'm sure it looks better graphically than in Unicode here. It isn't that important, though. Your use of that image falls under "fair use" anyway, I think. But it bugs me that the comic uses an image that exemplifies the poor state of our image archive. Lupo 07:48, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for checking back. I don't expect to use photo images in many future WikiWorld comics, but I thought this approach would be preferable to depicting Hitler in a cartoon-style drawing. It's tricky to understand the various rights issues related to Wikipedia's content, especially since there always seem to be differing opinions. Best, --Greg Williams 15:43, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
