Brent Lindique is a South African entrepreneur, journalist,[1] author, podcaster, and public speaker. He is the author of the Only Good Things Book[2] and the editor of Good Things Guy[3] and is also known as the Good Things Guy.[4][5][6][7]
Early Life and Education
editLindeque was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. He attended Marais Viljoen High School. He later pursued a degree in Marketing at the IMM Graduate School, successfully completing two years of the three-year programme.
NekNomination
editBrent is the initiator of the South African edition of the NekNomination (also became known as RakNomination[8] - Random Acts of Kindness) trend where he replaced the original binge-drinking challenge[9][10] into a challenge to do good where once raising over US $4000 for 14 orphans.[11][12] This movement grabbed international attention from CNN who arrived in South Africa to speak to him as it became a national movement.[13][14] This led him on to creating a news platform based on good news in South Africa.[15]
Personal Life
editHe is openly gay[16] and married to Andrew since 2008.[17][18] Due to being openly gay and advocating for gay rights in South Africa, he faced cyberbullying that required the intervention of the law and a court case to uncover and prosecute the cyberstalker.[19][20][21] He also advocated for positive coverage of Nelson Mandela during his final years.[22]
