Nisar Ibrahim Valiyakath (born 7 September 1976) is an Indian mixed media artist, short film director, art director and sculptor based in the United Arab Emirates.[1][2][3]
He is known for developing the anamorphic style of sculptures in the region with his works depicting the national leaders of the United Arab Emirates. He has directed multiple internationally and nationally awarded short films, the subjects of which revolved around societal issues including war crimes, child abuse and female mental health.[4][5] Nisar was also the art director behind the feature length Malayalam movie entitled 'Sameer.
His works have been displayed at multiple exhibitions and various festivals, including the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation in Dubai [6], the Sharjah Heritage Festival in Sharjah[7], the Art4You Exhibition at Studio 7[8] in Dubai, the Arabic Caligraphy Exhibition in Dubai[3][9], the Tagore International Film Festival in India, the Nottam Film Fest in Kuwait[10] and the Emirates Short Film Fest in Dubai.
He is an interior design consultant and architect by profession since 1998[11], during the span of which he has designed and developed restaurants, eyewear retailers, office spaces, paintball parks and homes throughout the Middle East. He is currently the Managing Director and Founder of the Sharjah based interior design consultancy and architecture company Green Room Decor.[12]

Early Life and Professional Career
editNisar Ibrahim Valiyakath was born and raised in the Thrissur district of Kerala on 7th September 1976. He is an alumnus of University of Calicut, holding a diploma in civil engineering.
Thereafter he began his career in the engineering and architecture field, moving to Saudi Arabia to continue his career in 1999 before settling in the Ajman emirate of the United Arab Emirates in 2004 at the age of 28[13]
He has dedicated his professional life to various creative endeavors, including directing short films, painting, sculpting, art direction and as an artistic consultant in a wide array of fields.
An architect and interior designer by profession, in 2022 Nisar founded the Sharjah based interior design consultancy Green Room Decor.[12]
In recognition for his achievements and contributions to the nation in the artistic field, he was awarded the Golden Visa under the 'Director' category by the Government of Dubai in 2024.[14]

He is referred to in Indian publications as a 'Pravasi'[20], the Malayalam term for an individual belonging to the Indian Diaspora. He has similarly been featured on interviews and talk-shows with the Arab Media Group owned Arabian Radio Network affiliated FM Radio Station, Gold 101.3 FM[16]
Regarded in the United Arab Emirates for his representation of the leaders of the Nation[18], past and present using unconventional materials and mediums[2][19]. Nisar has also combined his skills for sculpting and design to create custom fabricated awards and mementos for competitions and festivals in the creative industry, including an award given to the Indian businessman M.A Yusuff Ali.[24]
His achievements in the field of short film direction include his works Aro Oral, Soliloquy, Injustice[5] and 6Teen, which tackled issues such as war crimes, famine, colonialism, fascism, child abuse and suicide. He has been a member of jury panels for short films and films throughout his career, including Emirates Film Festival 2022 and Indian Association Sharjah Short Film Festival 2021.
His contributions to the feature film field include serving as an art director for the feature length Malayalam movie 'Sameer' (2020) which was largely filmed in the United Arab Emirates.
He is a known figure in the field of Short Films, Art, Sculpting, Literature and Painting in the Indian-expatriate community of the United Arab Emirates and a frequent guest at events and speeches.[25][26]
