Ronald Ian Charles Bartsch AM (born 8 April 1954) is an Australian aviation lawyer, academic, pilot and author.^[1] He is recognized for his contributions to aviation safety and regulatory compliance, and frequently appears in international media as a commentator on aviation regulation.^[2]^[3]

Bartsch was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2021 Australia Day Honours for "significant service to aviation law, and to safety and compliance."^[4]^[5]

Education

Bartsch holds multiple degrees from the University of Sydney, including a Bachelor of Science in Pure Mathematics, a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Education, and a Master of Philosophy. Bartsch began his career in flight operations, serving as a Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor at Navair Pty Ltd.
