An year after I was born, I remember almost nothing about 2004 except that the hip-hop culture was trending and that Facebook was launched. There's an interesting film on the rise of this platform, The Social Network which was released six years later after Fb's launch. Also, articles on years are pretty special as they summarize everything at once so hopefully the broad coverage (criteria 3) is not going to have any issues.

The review is going to come gradually as the prose length, MOS, WTW, and few other common style issues need to be checked.

Ok, I don't want to quick fail this but you need to check for WP:COPYVIO issues (earwig results), and stability as the revision history has a series of vandal edits made by unregistered editors (although now reverted). If any of such edits made are left then unfortunately it doesn't meet the criteria to proceed with WP:GACR6. Good luck.

Sddarealone, the site on Earwig copied from Wikipedia, not the other way around. And vandalism isn't part of the stability criterion (make sure to read the footnotes that come with the criteria). Thebiguglyalien (talk) 01:51, 1 August 2026 (UTC)

You're right, it was a false warning. The article is currently stable and copyvio checks out as marefa was launched in 2007, a long time after this article was created so no concern. I'll check for criterias 1, 6, and follow-up with 2; and I'll keep you posted about any new updates. Sddarealone (talk) 19:50, 1 August 2026 (UTC)

@Thebiguglyalien: Apologies for the delay; after one full read, I see some prose quality issues which can be fixed (with additional observations):

• Fixed.

• In 2004 § Health, change HIV/AIDS cases were rising at a high rate to HIV/AIDS cases were rising fast. Also remove duplicate word "global" in global global SARS epidemic.

• Removed duplicate "global". "rising fast" feels a little unencyclopedic to me so I changed it to "rising quickly".

• I see the prose to be having little to no abbreviations (for example, GWP for gross world product) for some important terms which could help a lot in structuring it better. It's purely your discretion but they can be included in the article.

• "gross world product" only appears once in the prose, so an acronym is unnecessary

• Certain wikilinks such as Nepalese Civil War in 2004 § Conflicts and drug test in Russia had her gold medal revoked after failing a drug test, 2004 § Sports can be done. As the prose has several links, I'll only make important wikilink suggestions in a further section-by-section prose check.
• For 3b, I spotted issues with the Kyoto Protocol para in 2004 § Environment and weather. Only the ratification was done in 2004 but the protocol came into effect in 2005. In simple words, this sentence can be merged into the previous sentence with the year removed—This allowed it to take effect in 2005 without the involvement of the United States.

• A major reason I'm doing this before spotcheck is because Sparks (2005) used nearly 70 times in the article is inaccessible (borrow unavailable) on Internet Archive. Can you provide an accessible online / offline copy for it? Also its an EB alamnac and EB (both online / offline) is considered slightly unreliable per WP:BRITANNICA so I would also require clarification on this part.

• You can access it on Internet Archive through WP:IAACCESS. If that doesn't work, I can provide excerpts. I don't think anything at WP:BRITANNICA applies to this book, which is a separate publication from the encyclopedia itself.

• Ok I found a fix. Using the search function and clicking on the excerpt lands me to the page with a full page view.

I really appreciate how you came in the review this far and I want you to keep it up. There are still some issues that can be resolved without which the review won't proceed. There's a caveat though: in Talk:2004/GA1 § Reference check–[53] IFPI, [215] artsper, and [234] pul-ingenieure can be ignored if you tell me or I can do it myself provided you agree to it (they are minor but I'm not wanting to cause a dispute).

I'm not sure what else there is to do. If you're referring to the sources, you're going to need a stronger case that they're unreliable than one person calling it biased (a post on RSN is not automatic consensus, and bias is not the same as reliability). Thanks. The situation was a bit different back then as I explained above. Yes, the Indian PM in 2004 was selected (won by Sonia Gandhi) but a different candidate became the PM which happened to be in Singh's favor.
