No flag for Ireland
editIt is a bit pathetic that there is no flag next to the Irish teams.--137.191.240.200 (talk) 12:21, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, we can't do anything about it. The official flag is copyrighted, and any attempt to fabricate a replacement would either be a copyright violation or a violation of Wikipedia's no original research policy. – PeeJay 14:27, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe it would be better to remove ALL the flags from this article instead of constantly adding and removing the Irish flag. What do you think? noq (talk) 19:26, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree. Why hinder others because Ireland chooses to be difficult? – PeeJay 21:54, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- Would it hinder others? There is already a table in the article that shows the national union that the teams come from. noq (talk) 00:42, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

I agree maybe the removal of all the flag would be the best solution.--137.191.240.200 (talk) 10:18, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- Why? Just because we can't use a flag for Ireland? That's ridiculous. Most other sports use flags to show which country each player/club represents, so why should we remove all flags from all rugby articles (since that is the implication of removing them from this article) just because Ireland doesn't have a usable flag? – PeeJay 16:56, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
The question is why we can't use a flag for Ireland beyond 'copyrighting'. As you say 'most other sports use flags to show which country each player/club represents.'--Dunshocking (talk) 19:02, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- It's been explained - the Irish flag *is* copyrighted. The others, to the best of knowledge are not. They can then be used, so should. Minkythecat (talk) 19:11, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- They could be used on Wikipedia if they were used by the IRFU. They are not, so should not be used on Wikipedia. noq (talk) 19:35, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- Noq is right. Using a flag that is not used by the IRFU would be a violation of WP:OI. – PeeJay 23:20, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Given they are clubs (as opposed to national teams) couldn't we just use the Republic's flag for Munster/Leinster? Both clubs are based in the Republic and have no territory in the UK whatsoever. 144.131.91.23 (talk) 06:48, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
- What flag would you use for Ulster? The flags are used to denote addiliation and Munster and Leinster are affiliated to the IRFU. noq (talk) 07:20, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
- Ulster is a bit more complicated as it covers both the Republic and Northern Ireland. It's even more complicated when you consider that Northern Ireland doesn't even have its own flag. 58.164.49.182 (talk) 04:03, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
On second thoughts could we use the flag of Ulster for Ulster, the flag of Munster for Munster and the flag of Leinster for Leinster? I was under the impression (and being an Australian not 100% across the Irish situation I could be wrong) that the flag of Ulster was more or less considered politically neutral. 58.164.49.182 (talk) 04:11, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
The whole mess is being discussed again at WT:WikiProject Rugby union. noq (talk) 12:13, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Move
editI would like to propose a move to 'Heineken Cup 2009/10' as seen here [1]. I will move it myself if nobody objects. If this is not objected to, I will do the same for previous seasons. Fionnsci (talk) 21:43, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
- I object strongly. The usage of slashes to indicate date ranges is completely incorrect. The correct way to notate a season is to use an endash as we have here. In fact, endashes are used all over Wikipedia and slashes are only used in cases that have not yet been located and moved to use endashes. – PeeJay 01:09, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- As above. There is no reason for such a move. Every sports season article on wikipedia uses this format. Nouse4aname (talk) 10:05, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Change coluring?
edit- I think perhaps we should change Group winners and the best two winners having different colours to having a single colour for through to the knockout stage —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.38.97.148 (talk) 17:25, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Leinster attendance
editThe RDS Arena definitely doesn't hold 20,000. Stifle (talk) 10:49, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- Not even on a good day? – PeeJay 15:13, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- You're right.....where does it say it does? Fionnsci (talk) 17:06, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- The Heineken Cup website reported the attendance for Leinster's quarter-final as 20,000. – PeeJay 21:33, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
