Standings?
editShouldn't there be a table for the standings of the World Series? I don't know what points carry over to the next regatta but I do believe there will be accumulating standings that tally until the end of the series. Birdy (talk) 21:53, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- Yes there should be. Like you I haven't yet seen a source for the standings that I can rely on to add a table, if you find one please do so Mattlore (talk) 01:49, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- I was watching the extended highlights video and the announcer said that all the points count and that they already awarded points for the Match Racing Series, and that the points were on the line for the AC World Series Fleet Race. It seems to me that they will be having two leader boards, one for the Match Racing Series and one for the World Series Fleet Races. They have the results on the America's Cup website for all of the races they have had so far. Birdy (talk) 02:27, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
I added the two standings table with a format that I knew. If anyone has a better format for the tables give an example in here before changing. Also in the table above 2011-2012 World Series, it shows a winner. I assumed it was from the final fleet race, didn't know if we should represent both competition winners in that table as well. Will leave it as it is for now. Birdy (talk) 13:27, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
- Looks good. I have added the Match Race Winner to the event table as I think both should be listed. Mattlore (talk) 00:19, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
What is a FLEET Race (more than two, in fact all, boats racing at once?) and how is the winner determined (i assume it's multiple races over multiple days, points for winning each race, best results over all the races ...???) and is the FLEET Race used to seed the Match race??? The series highlights look spectacular, I'd just like to know what's going on more??? Any help would be appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.56.86.35 (talk) 21:28, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
- In Plymouth, six fleet races were carried out with all teams, with points added for each position in each race as per the diagram where the winner takes 10 points, 2nd place takes 9 points, last (9th position) takes two points, and disqualifications or retirements take 0 points. Cumulative seeding is computed and the top three seeds are automatically qualified for semi-finals in the Match Races. The fourth finalist is selected from the last seed to the fourth seed in a series of match races with increasing levels of difficulty from the fourth seed down as per the diagram. signed:Nuttyrave (talk) 09:20, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
Why Sail loft in the team table
editThis table looks like it was put together by a North Sails marketing person.
The sail loft is not so important with these wing sail boats (the lofts do not make the wing sail)
The Doyle loft is not linked, as North sails is.
No other equipment category is singled out this way.
The lofts are not an integral part of the teams.
I think this column should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.204.140.202 (talk) 16:45, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
- Every component of the AC45 is strictly one-design except headsails so the choice of loft is added in this perspective. The only other factor is the crew itself, but only a record of the skipper history is kept for convenience. signed:Donan Raven (talk) 12:19, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
invented?
editWhen was the idea of having hydrofoils on a catamaran first thought up? Just curious. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Two Wrongs (talk • contribs) 20:10, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
