Why other countries like Kenya not represented.

edit

I happen to have come to India for a few days stay and finds a another foreigner at the airport who offered to help me whole heartedly. She becomes a friend and tell me how India is a good place to be, she talks about India having good universities which are as many as private primary schools in Kenya. I mean from this gate one university you find another one nd and so on and so forth. The young Lady, Malawian see.s to have stayed in Delhi for over 2 years and was schooling here, she seems to like India and she feels so proud and for sure, so happy welcoming others to the country. She does this by self drive and no body is noticing her hospitality, her kind hertedness. To cut the long story short, it is from her that I first heard of the G20 SUMMIT and I was like what's that? But I pretended. Ofkos I didn't want her to realise my stupidity having introduced myself to with the profession on my shoulders. I only noted in agreement that I know what that was and what it was all about. I don't want to say she called the taxi man using her credit and ensured I got my destination well and confirmed by calling me thanks to WhatsApp call. So when i got to the Hotel, i decided to Google what G20 SUMMIT is only to find out that its an important event with the following agendas: .Green Development, .Climate Finance & LiFE Accelerated, .Inclusive & Resilient Growth Accelerating progress on SDGs Technological Transformation & Digital Public Infrastructure Multilateral Institutions for the 21st century.

Looking at these agendas, African union countries aught to have joined like yesterday. Because a country like Kenya is working day and night to make the country green by planting trees, has laid down strategies for the climate change, Kenya is growing far in terms of technology, a reason I am here pleading with you. Please your excellencies accept these other countries join and have a vote. Mageto Wycliffe (talk) 14:14, 22 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Demolitions

edit

What do we think of the removal of this?

In the lead up to the G20 meeting, the Indian authorities including Archaeological Survey of India embarked on a mass demolition drive against homeless shelters and slum neighborhoods across New Delhi resulting in the eviction of its marginalized residents.[1][2][3] Lukewarmbeer (talk) 06:48, 7 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

All but two of the deletions so far have been without a rationale in the edit summary. The two rationales given were for deletions a few minutes apart today: "PIB debunks this claim", and "removed propaganda". If the section needs editing for neutral point of view, or better referencing, then let's discuss that and improve it, but wholesale deletion of referenced paragraphs without good reason is simply vandalism. Concerned citizen hasnt published their report which claimed 0.2-0.3 million people were evicted. I urge to remove the number as report is not available to public.
On the other hand cnn says over one lakh residents lost their home due to supreme court petition in april. Remove number 0.2-0.3 million from article 117.222.169.214 (talk) 14:30, 9 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

The CNN report was debunked by government of India sources and private news sources confirmed the same. It I think may not be linked to G20 summit hence supporting removal - https://www.newsx.com/pib-debunks-cnns-claims-for-g20-summit/ Thewikizoomer (talk) 15:36, 10 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
The reports from multiple sources (CNN, Reuters, Washington Post, The Guardian etc.) were disputed by the government, not disproven. "Debunked" is a rather loaded term, so we shouldn't use that in the article. Wikishovel (talk) 15:43, 10 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Mass removal from Preparations section

edit

Massive amount of content was removed from the Preparations section without an edit summary in this edit. Unless a sensible justification is provided and consensus is gained for its removal, I'm going to restore it. Pirate of the High Seas (talk) 14:52, 10 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

The Press Information Bureau's statement on this is certainly worth adding, and I've done so. But I've also restored the sourced content, as the PIB's opinion doesn't supercede that of other reliable sources. Wikishovel (talk) 08:38, 10 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Cost Controversy and Healthcare Comparison

edit

Critics of the 2023 G20 New Delhi summit have pointed out concerns regarding the substantial expenditure associated with hosting the event. The Indian government allocated ₹990 crore (approximately 9.9 billion rupees) for the summit, which raised questions about the prioritization of funds, especially when compared to critical sectors such as healthcare. According to available data, the cost of treating a patient with tuberculosis (TB) in India is estimated to be around ₹20,000. Critics argue that the funds allocated for the G20 summit could have been redirected to vital healthcare initiatives, potentially saving thousands of lives by supporting the treatment and prevention of TB, among other healthcare priorities. Advocates for reallocating these funds emphasize the urgent need to address public health challenges in the country, particularly considering the prevalence of diseases like TB and the importance of accessible healthcare for all citizens.
