Former good article nomineeAkshay Kumar was a Media and drama good articles nominee, but did not meet the good article criteria at the time. There may be suggestions below for improving the article. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

I wanted to bring this up a while back, Kumar seems to not bear the legal name as the article states, the same goes to his father. If we go through his official Twitter page [1], the document that he has shared states that his name is Akshay Hariom Bhatia.

I think we should start the article with this name, though it's a primary source. For example Akshay Hariom Bhatia (born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia; birth date) etc. His father's name too reads as Brijmohan Bhatia. Possibly indicating that he too changed his name over the years. Primary source would suffice per WP:LEGALNAME, it is common for entertainment professionals to legally adopt their stage names. It was I who had added his reported legal name in the lead a few years back per the guideline. I wll implement the above changes if no one is opposed to them. No one seems to oppose to this suggestion. You may go ahead with the changes. Rejoy2003(talk) 10:00, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Birthplace

edit

While Britannica (as sourced in the article) does say he was born in Amritsar. In this (3:35) interview with Rajya Sabha TV he himself says that he was born in Delhi. Also the same is stated in the Twitter post as rightly pointed out by @Sahilgng in the edit request above.

In cases such as these (for basic facts of birthplace, date etc.) official records (as included in the Twitter post) and WP:SPS statements from the subject themselves (as in the interview) are preferable over tertiary sources like Britannica.

@Fylindfotberserk, Rejoy2003, and Krimuk2.0: I think the changes requested in the edit request in light of these sources should be made. Any further comments would be appreciated. Gotitbro (talk) 16:54, 4 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

The Twitter post seals the deal. I have no issues with changing Kumar's birthplace, to be honest I didn't even notice the difference in the article. Like you've said about tertiary sources, I agree on that note. Rejoy2003(talk) 17:10, 4 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Change it to Delhi (Old Delhi in brackets if necessary), we have enough sources. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:55, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have made the appropriate changes per the discussion here (though notified the Britannica data as well). Gotitbro (talk) 15:58, 9 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
