editThis page is about the same living person but since then the person's activities and works have increased manifold, as has his importance and significance. That is why each of the facts stated about this person are suitably backed by appropriate weblinks from authentic and respectable sources. The person has made significant impact on various fields of life- as a Police officer, as a social activist and as fighting for justice on many fronts. Hence deleting this Article would be highly unjust.
In fact the person has been quite active during the last six months since the wikipedia deletion and has made significant contributions in so many fields as can be easily searched through google search for both Amitabh Thakur and अमिताभ ठाकुर (in Hindi- as his area of activity is predominantly Hindi speaking region)
I want the tag and information about delition to be removed fast. In case the moderators want some further discusion, we may also correspond at <redacted> —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nutanthakurlko (talk • contribs) 04:28, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- Publishing your personal contact details like an emailID is liable to get you removed from this encyclopedia. Start by reading this WP:5P. Weblinks are not usually considered to be sufficiently reliable sources, especially for BLPs. RobertRosen (talk) 11:24, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
Please delete this article
editI would like this article on "Amitabh Thakur" to be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.
The subject of the article is a very normal person who is NOT a public figure, who has NOT excelled exceptionally well in his field so as to justify his own wikipedia entry. Clearly most of the links which are referred are either alumni websites, or websites which have been set up by the subject himself. These links cannot be considered to be impartial, verifiable, and authentic. There are many people like Mr. Thakur out there, and just the fact that he is 'planning' a book on Facebook does not entitle his name to appear in the article on "facebook" as well.
Thank you,
Rohit Gupta New Delhi, India —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.177.62.17 (talk) 21:13, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
- This article deserves to be deleted. The personality is not very notable. Most of the media clippings cited seem to be for his role as a complainant, litigant or whistleblower. He hasn't achieved anything notable like winning a major award. I've trimmed the article very considerably to WP standards. All material published in BLPs must be properly referenced with reliable sources or its likely to be deleted. It would be proper if uninvolved editors contributed to articles like this. RobertRosen (talk) 11:20, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
Notability of the person
editThe contentions of Mr Rohit Gupta are not true. Yes, it is a fact that the person is " a very normal person" and not an abnormal one. Again, it is true that the person is not one who can be called an All-India figure, but he certainly has his own notability and accomplishments in the field of social service and literary work.
In fact, while Mr Gupta says that "most of the links which are referred are either alumni websites, or websites which have been set up by the subject himself", the fact is that these links are from such important and respected sources like The Hindu, Indian Express, Times of India, Pioneer, BBC etc., other than many prominent webzines like Bhadas, Policewala etc. It is completely incorrect and malafide on the part of Sri Gupta to say that these websites are set up by the person himself. This is a statement that he needs to take back immediately as being nothing short of libel.
Based on these facts and circumstances, I refute the opinion presented by Sri Rohit Gupta.
Dr Nutan Thakur, Lucknow —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nutanthakurlko (talk • contribs) 03:20, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- I think WP:PEOPLE has to be referred here. I do not see sufficient notability for the person in question. I have inserted a Notability tag on the article. Please do not remove it until the issue is resolved. And lastly, Dr. Nutan, please sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). Happy editing. MikeLynch (talk) 14:59, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
Dear Mr MikeLynch and others, as stated earlier in my statements here in discussions, this person is quite notable in his own way. He is not only a police officer, he is also a social activist, a writer, a columnist and also a fighter for many causes. As presented in his original biography, almost all the sources are authentic, respected and neutral ones ranging from Indian Express, Times of India, Hindu, Z TV, BBC and Pioneer.
A present the original bio for reference once again-
Amitabh Thakur, (b June 16, 1970 ) is an officer of the Indian Police Service in Uttar Pradesh. [1] Originally from Bokaro in Jharkhand, Thakur is a B Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and then he came in the IPS.
He has been Superintendent of Police of nearly 10 districts in Uttar Pradesh and other important places.
Presently he is on study leave for Fellow Program in Management in Human Resource Management at Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow.
Other than this, Thakur is also actively involved with social work. He is the President of National RTI Forum, an organization active in the field of Right to Information. [2] [3] He is also the President of Institute for Research and Documentation in Social Sciences (IRDS) and the Patron of Indian Public Academy, a school providing free education to needy children. [4] [5] He has been active in pursuing many causes despite adversities, including those related to Arundhati Roy for her comments on Kashmir,[6] [7] against those having used improper language in an influential magazine Ambedakar Today. [8] [9] Even his study leave case has made him fight against the establishment and now his wife Dr Nutan Thakur is going to write a book on it. [10] [11] [12] [13] Cite error: A <ref>

There are many others, and all of them are independent and authentic sources.
Based on all these facts, I finally request you to decide over the matter as u feel like. If u still think it needs to be removed'/ deleted, get it done. - Okay, I think I will accept your contentions. Dr Nutan, please feel free to add the above stated content to the main article, provided it is not directly copied from any source, and provided it satisfies Wikipedia's copyright provisions WP:COPYRIGHT. However, I do not think that Mr. Thakur's opinions on Arundhati Roy's speech(es) finds a place in this article. Please feel free to add content, and remove the tag only after you have added the content. Good day. MikeLynch (talk) 05:24, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks a lot Mr MikeLynch. The above is not directly copied from any source, and it does satisfy Wikipedia's copyright provisions. Shall also be adding Mr Thakur's opinions on Arundhati Roy's speech(es). With these changes, I am removing the tag, with your kind permission. <nutanthakurlko>Nutanthakurlko (talk) 11:56, 5 December 2010 (UTC)</nutanthakurlko>
Mr MikeLynch, I am slightly confused about ur Arundhati's matter. Do u want to say that it should not be there or do u want to say thhat it should be differently worded? nutanthakurlkoNutanthakurlko (talk) 12:02, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- I do not think it finds a place in this article. I do not think his opinions need be included here, because it does not add any value to the article. MikeLynch (talk) 15:55, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
Right Mr MikeLynch, but the initiative taken by Mr Thakur against Ms Arundhati of sending letter to Delhi Police Commissioner to register an FIR is an important work and needs to be there. I hope u agree. I am also removing these tags on the top, with ur kind persission. They don't look nice. nutanthakurlkoNutanthakurlko (talk) 09:42, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- You cannot use this site to promote your own work, or that of people closely connected to you. Moreover, as the person with the COI, you cannot remove tags that express concerns over a COI. --Ckatzchatspy 09:49, 6 December 2010 (UTC)about
- Dr Nutan, as Ckatz mentioned, you cannot remove the COI tag, or the autobiography tag until that particular issue has been resolved. And again, as I mentioned earlier, Mr. Thakur's personal opinons on Arundhati Roy do not find a place here. Wikipedia is purely for encyclopedic content. I will now proceed to do a general cleanup of the article. Good day. MikeLynch (talk) 14:23, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Mr MikeLynch, I would request you to do the clean-up as soon as possible. We may have a discussion on this issue here, if u think proper. nutanthakurlkoNutanthakurlko (talk) 10:25, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
This person has a huge notability in the State of Uttar Pradesh. He is also known in a wide circle of writers, social activists at Pan-Indian level. Hence, the tags presented at the top need to be removed immediately. I am also making a few amendments ion his bio, as per my personal information. tannuwriterTannuwriter (talk) 15:46, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
There not being any truth in the article being auto-biographical in nature, I hereby remove this tag and would others not to put it again because I can very well vouch for the notability and facts about this person. AddyBossAddyboss (talk) 04:08, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
- Please do not remove the tags until the issue has been resolved by mediation by established users. MakingTheMark •Wassup doc? 12:14, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
I completely disagree with what Mr MikeLynch says about this person's notability. luckkannLuckkann (talk) 16:50, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

I removed tags
editI have removed the autobiography and conflict of interest tags from the article, because it has been completely rewritten to eliminate those concerns. I intend to start expanding the article based strictly on what reliable, independent, secondary sources say about this man. Please edit in full compliance with the relevant Wikipedia policies, especially those governing biographies of living people. Don't forget to declare any conflicts of interest. Thank you. Cullen328 (talk) 06:37, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Though I have a direct Conflict of Interest with this person as he is my husband, yet I have presented only those facts which are well-cited and have a fairly important imprint on the events around. There are many more references to both these events- FIR against Facebook and book "Fresh Brew" but I have presented only a few of the more important ones. I would request Mr Cullen328 to kindly have a final decision on this issue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nutanthakurlko (talk • contribs) 02:24, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
