Title of page

edit

This page was redirected to Anita Bose-Pfaff, with the surname hyphenated. I have reverted it back to this page, based on a Google search revealing that press sources do not hyphenate Frau Pfaff's surnames, and nor does she. Please don't change the title of this page without raising it for discussion first. Many thanks. -- TinaSparkle 16:12, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The redirection was because Bose-P not to use), as per German naming rules and as can easily be ascertained if only German websites are Googled. Basically, it doesn't matter, of course, under which name the entry is, as long as both forms can be found. But just for the sake of correctness, I have added the hyphenated name to the entry. I hope that that will solve the issue. Anuragi 09:06, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I'm happy with that - thank you. I think it's generally better to use the name that the person herself uses, especially seeing as this is the English-language Wikipedia, but I do see what you mean about the German rules. -- TinaSparkle 10:35, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't agree with the proposal of deletion for this article

edit

I really don't agree with the page deletion of this article proposed from Qwyrxian. There are many reason for not deleting this article. One of the major reason isn't that Anita is the daughter of one of the most prominent political figures in the history of modern India or that she has an important academic background. The main reason is that she has from some time, in spite of herself, at the center of a major media phenomenon. Infact there is a strong dispute between those who argue that she is the daughter of Subash Chandra Bose and a minorance who argue that she isn't. (See f.e.: World believes Netaji was married, but not his party) but also: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]... Furthermore some traditional hindu followers of Netaji simply don't want to accept the fact that he had a non-indian wife outside India and so on. In conclusion I strongly belive that this is definitely an article to expand, but certainly not to delete being at the center of a major international media case.--Cornelius383 (talk) 17:41, 18 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Chetanhk: I strongly disagree with the proposal of deletion of this page. As an Indian and as an admirer of Netaji (Subhas Chandra Bose), I would like to know more about his family members and their life. I do apologize as I am posting this without reading the guidelines. The family members of Netaji has accepted Emilie as subhas's wife and anita as their daughter, So I do accept the same as an Indian. I searched the net to know more about Netaji's family successors, just after completely reading the book "His Opponent's Majesty" written by Sugata Bose, grandson of Netaji's brother, a historian and one of great contributor to NRB (Netaji Research Bureau). I would like to know more about Anita Bose Pfaff as she belong to the one of royal-patriotic family of india. I would like to bring an example of "Prince William, Duke of Cambridge", He has been a notable figure and a page is created on Wikipedia, as just he was born to the royal family and performing some royal duties. So why not Anita Bose Pfaff's page? She was born to one of greatest Indian Patriot. Of course more contribution is required, and there may be some contradictions, but they can be published as they are with neutral position.

I quote her
I didn't realize that you didn't remove the prod--a proposed deletion may be undone by anyone for any reason. I've gone ahead and removed it for you. I may take the article to AfD; I will review the sources you've given. However, I looked at a few, and it doesn't look promising--the ones I checked so far seem to briefly mention her, but none of them discuss her in depth. Again, if she is only notable because of her father, Wikipedia rules say she should not have her own article. Qwyrxian (talk) 00:31, 21 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Qwyrxian. When I will be a little less busy I will try to add more sources to the article. If you find something valuable it will be also nice. As I said Anita is now a popular person in India and I think that it would be interesting to improve this article rather than remove it.--Cornelius383 (talk) 08:15, 22 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Last Name

edit

"Anita was never given her father's last name and grew up as Anita Schenkl."

So then why is the page address and main title 'Anita Bose Pfaff' and not 'Anita Schenkl Pfaff' like the first words on the page actually call her? And throughout the rest of the article she's referred to by many names; Pfaff, Anita, Anita Bose, Anita Pfaff etc. I thought the idea was that a person would be referred to by their last name. Example from hitting the Random Article button until I got a decent one, Steven Blum is referred to as 'Blum' throughout his page, not 'Steven' or 'Steve' or whatever. So, what does she actually use as a last name? Just Pfaff? Bose Pfaff? Schenkl Pfaff? What?

Probably not 'What' actually, that wouldn't make much sense. 86.29.7.17 (talk) 02:52, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

I've tried to fix some of your objections, all very valid. I'm not sure whether she has actually changed her name to Anita Bose Pfaff, or the Indian media has unilaterally changed it. Will look into this. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 15:24, 29 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
She does (herself) use the name Anita Bose Pfaff or Anita B. Pfaff, or Anita Pfaff in her academic publications. See here. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 15:34, 29 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

trunk office

What is a trunk office? I couldn't find a definition using Google search. Terms not commonly known and also not easily found in a dictionary, encyclopedia or with a normal Internet search engine should either not be used or be explained. The purpose of Wikipedia is to supply information. Using terms or grammar that are not readily understandable does not further this purpose. 37.99.32.90 (talk) 02:08, 13 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
