The article simply says the 2000 award was declared void. There's no citation or further information. What happened? Does anyone have the resources to explain?

I always hear this being referred to in the press as the "Annecy International Animated Film Festival", and this is also closer to its French title. There are any number of international animated film festivals around the world, so it seems a bit innapropriate to give this article such a general title. Does anyone else think that it would be a good idea to move this page to the redirect article that exists at Annecy International Animated Film Festival? --Esn06:06, 20 August 2006 (UTC).Reply
The French name is Festival international du film d'animation. If it was "Animated Film", the last part of that would be film animé. But it's not, it's film d'animation (literally "film of animation"), which "Animation Film" is a closer English equivalent to and is that used on the festival's own website.
However, you're right that the "Animated Film" translation, though unofficial, is used near-universally by the professional press. So I'm not sure where this should be placed.

Annecy International Animated Film Festival → Annecy International Animation Film Festival – The official English name of the festival is ***Annecy International Animation Film Festival***, which is now used throughout the English version of its website and is also a more direct translation of its French name Festival international du film d'animation d'Annecy (not film animé, which is the French for "animated film"). There has been some inconsistency in the past, and ***Annecy International Animated Film Festival*** continues to often be used by third parties, but I believe this current, consistent, official use of the "Animation Film" name means that it is the one to use according to English Wikipedia's naming conventions.
