Help finding reliable sources
editThere seems to be some confusion on the part of editors of this article of what constitutes a reliable source for citations. In most cases, user-generated content such as YouTube, IMDB, as well as most "blogs" are not considered reliable. You might find these references helpful:
Zee awards
editManalijain and Princepratap1234 Stop edit war. Discuss here whether or not to include Zee rishtey awards. -- Parnaval (talk) 11:50, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- We don't include channel awards as they are unnotable.User talk:Ravensfire please tell him not to include unnotable awards Princepratap1234 (talk) 11:59, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- First of all, the sudden claim stating that Zee Rishtey Awards aren't notable is completely false. These awards are completely notable and is telecasted on Zee TV every year. And they are certainly not any kind of channel awards but are annual award show conducted by Zee Entertainment Enterprises since 2007. If wanted, anyone could even search it on the web themselves too.
- Secondly, @Ravensfire: had removed all the non-notable awards from Avneet Kaur's award section of the article on 1st July, and had kept these Zee Rishtey Awards, which means that they are accurate, major and true and cannot be considered as non-notable.
- Lastly, I kindly request to refer and consider my above mentioned points and include Zee Rishtey Awards, as I do state that these are completely notable awards. Manalijain (talk) 12:33, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- As per WP:FILMCRITICLIST Awards included in lists should have a Wikipedia article to demonstrate notability and Zee rishtey awards doesn't have an article on Wikipedia which makes this award unnotable. Princepratap1234 (talk) 13:23, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, that I know about the wikipedia article thing. And in WP:FILMCRITICLIST it's written that "awards bestowed by web-only entities are not included". But here it's not just a web entity because when you go to link the award name i.e. Zee Rishtey Awards it does show that "the page exists". As far as I could think and understand, I do feel that these awards should be included. Manalijain (talk) 13:44, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- It doesn't have a page ,it is redirect to Zee TV. The page got deleted last year due to unnotability.Read this [1] Princepratap1234 (talk) 13:48, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- I don't know, certainly I feel that it does get linked, even though it is directed to ZeeTV but it's a part of Zee Entertainment Enterprises and on Zee TV's wikipedia page, Zee Rishtey Awards do have it's particular section. And also, Zee Rishtey Awards get featured on sources such as The Times of India, Hindustan Times, India Today, Zee News, ABP Live, etc. So we also do have reliable sources as per WP:ICTFSOURCES, so I do think this awards should be considered and included.
- Also, I request @Ravensfire: @Parnaval: to kindly look into this once and give your respective opinions/suggestions, please! Manalijain (talk) 14:22, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Manalijain, I concur with the removing the Zee Rishtey awards - like most channel awards, they're basically popularity contests or ways the channel can push a specific person. This isn't a sudden guideline, it's been around for a while. Ravensfire (talk) 15:12, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Alright then, if just because the wikipedia article page of the awards was deleted last year though being notable, and we could not include them, I don't have another point to try proving/suggesting for keeping Zee Rishtey Awards. I do respect the policies and guidelines of Wikipedia. Manalijain (talk) 05:00, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
- Manali, that page is a redirect and article was deleted because it was non-notable, and as it is non-notable we should NOT include award in this article -- Parnaval (talk) 12:59, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
- As Parnaval said - Manalijain, I'm hoping you clicked on that article link because you would have seen that it's a redirect, NOT an actual article. Ravensfire (talk) 15:10, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
- Alright, okay! Manalijain (talk) 03:32, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

Media
editHello Bonadea. You recently removed Media section from Kaur's article stating- promospam, no notability [2]. I would like to bring this to your notice that this list of Most Desirable Women by Times of India is released every year like most other newspapers and magazines. The reliable sources were also referenced there for the same. These mentions of Times Most Desirable Men and Women of the year are notable and can be found at various other personality's article page too. The links to Times of India here on this page were disambiguated, maybe that's why you thought they are non-notable. I would like you to consider this once, please check the same and add up the media section again. Thanks, ManaliJain (talk) 13:47, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
- Exactly, it's the kind of list that any newspaper might feature, nothing notable about it unless independent sources should talk about it. I don't know what you mean by disambiguated. I did read the sources (and that made it very clear that it is not something Wikipedia should use!) --bonadea contributions talk 14:01, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
Yes Bonadea, but there are independent sources as well apart from TOI. To list a few: [3], [4], [5]. ManaliJain (talk) 14:48, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
- Three copies, with minor re-phrasing, of the same press release – so-called churnalism. Not independent. --bonadea contributions talk 15:14, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
Other sources found: [6], [7], [8]. ManaliJain (talk) 15:59, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
- Two more instances of the same press release (making five copies in all) and a page of glamour shots and sexist marketing fluff. Take a moment to read Reliable Sources and Biographies of living people. --bonadea contributions talk 16:29, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
Alright then, if you still don't want it to be mentioned, fine then. But I've seen WP:RS ; WP:ICTFSOURCES and do know about reliable sources, and have only mentioned reliable ones above. Though you may say that these kinds of list that newspapers feature aren't notable unless independent sources talk about it but these are reliable sources and notable ones to be mentioned and has been there on almost every article of different personalities mentioned in Times Most Desirable list of all previous years. And everywhere, Times of India and rest other sources with the same details of press release are being referenced. ManaliJain (talk) 17:35, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Bonadea: please see Anushka Sen page where unnecessary things are written in other work section.171.79.104.167 (talk) 12:39, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
- WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Almost every article about movie stars, internet celebrities, influencers, and similar will include marketing fluff. If another article has blatantly inappropriate claims and sources, it does not mean that this article should also have it. (I haven't looked at Anushka Sen.) --bonadea contributions talk 14:46, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
Awards
editAvneet kaur won more than 2 awards why only 2 are mentioned. She won about 9 to 10 awards please add them as well. 2400:ADC5:13C:2300:9D0F:E8AE:E22:B063 (talk) 15:53, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
- Even though Kaur has won many awards but only notable ones can get mentioned on Wikipedia articles. Kindly read: WP:FILMCRITICLIST for more. In simple words, if an award has it's own page on Wikipedia than it could be considered and added otherwise not. ManaliJain (talk) 06:09, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
