Edits

edit

If you feel that this article needs some sort of work, feel free to do so. I know it is very long, so if anyone wants to shorten it, they are welcome to. Should I remove the film-stub from the bottom? Nick L. 04:42, 6 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Historical Accuracy

edit

"The medicine did not actually go by train from Anchorage to Nenana. The first of the teams to set off on the relay actually started from Anchorage."

According to the sources in the 1925 serum run to Nome article, the sled dog relay did indeed start in Nenana. DMAJohnson 19:17, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Dogs can't talk." Is that line necessary? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.9.41.161 (talk) 21:29, 30 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Awards

edit

I have had to remove the Category:Best Song Oscar and Category:Best Song Oscar Nominee from the article. A check of the 1996 Academy Awards shows that "Reach for the Light" was not nominated. Also, "Reach for the Light" did not win a Grammy at the 1996 Grammy awards. I removed that entry as well. --Coaster1983 02:56, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pictures and Userbox

edit

I can't seem to identify who added the screenshot of Muk and Luk. I like it, but I'm wondering why them in particular. It would be neat to have screenshots of some of the other characters (I intend to add a character profile list at some point, if that would help). In particular, I think it would be good to have a nice shot of Balto, since he is the star after all. Plus, I made a userbox pertaining to Balto and would like to have a more specific picture for it or a secondary version (v2). If anyone would like the userbox, here it is.

Balto This user is not a dog...not a wolf...

Inaccuracies

edit

I just reverted an edit that added the following : "Once in the movie, Jenna says "Polar bears can't swim", but polar bears can swim many miles; without their swimming, they would not survive."

  • Jenna actually says, "Polar bears who can't swim?" in shock, upon realizing that Muk and Luk supposedly cannot swim, when she knows that polar bears should be able to swim.

"Other dogs criticize Balto of being a 'wolf-dog', but wolf-dogs have wolf genes, also meaning they have larger brains and stronger immune systems and better senses then pure dogs."

  • True, but in the case of this film, the discrimination against half-breeds is psychological and shallow, not based in true merit. That's it, just letting the user know my reasons for reverting. :) -- Annie D 00:37, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Baltocd.jpg

edit

Image:Baltocd.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Characters

edit

The characters section is nearly as long as the plot section. Work should be done, IMHO. Lots42 (talk) 17:23, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Steel or Steele?

edit

Balto's rival is named "Steel", like seriously, it's not "Steele", it's just Steel. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.248.253.236 (talk) 16:57, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't think so, in the captions it's spelled "Steele", in the credits it's spelled "Steele", even in the book it's spelled "Steele". Elbutler (talk) 18:47, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate article

edit

This soundtrack section of this article duplicates the more detailed orphaned article, Balto Soundtrack. Voceditenore (talk) 10:21, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Still wrong

edit

Now the character section is three times LONGER then the plot section. Plot section needs to be longer, cast section at least limited to one sentence per character. Especially since we have that page listing all the characters from all three Balto movies. Lots42 (talk) 07:01, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Jenna

edit

In the plot section, the name "Jenna" leads to an article on the name. Should it not lead to the list of Balto characters? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.8.241.173 (talk) 21:47, 6 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I’d Like to Know Something

edit

Is there any particular reason as to why Balto III: Wings of Change, doesn’t have its own page? I mean, it has a link, but all it really leads to is straight to the page of Balto 1. Austin012599 (talk) 18:25, 16 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

I know, Balto II has it's own page, but not Balto III. It doesn't make much sense. Scratchu90 (talk) 17:50, 7 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Historical inaccuracies

edit

Macaddct1984 following the BRD cycle, I will not begin an edit war by reverting your edit as they never help anyone but from what I have read, many of the historical inaccuracies are present. If you disagree, I would be happy to have a third party get involved. If it turns out that you are correct, I would prefer for the section to be blanked and not left with; “Not a single one”.

Yours in debate,

Megabits000 (talk) 00:21, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I meant to revert the prior edit and got yours instead; my apologies. I know nothing of the film, but I do think that section could be drastically cut down for an animated film. -- MacAddct1984 (talk | contribs) 01:01, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
