Not enough space given to abuse of the public
editMerely one sentence in the article refers to corruption. Let's make a section. Countless people screwed by corrupt government, all so one billionaire could get richer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.232.191.16 (talk) 15:29, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

editDoesn't this article seem a bit skewed towards the anti-arena faction? -bfoaz
- Yes.
- The same can be said of the Atlantic Yards article, which also requires some major revisions if it's going to actually hew to a neutral point ofarena on its own nee view.
Ruthfulbarbarity 04:15, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed. The article needs to be about the arena, not the controversey surrounding it. There should :be space for the pros and cons, though. But not the whole article. Milchama 17:06, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed that there should be more balance, do not see the need to separate this issue into 2 articles. The arena is the thrust of the project, separating it into its own article is pointless. Tommyill 03:15, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
- The Brooklyn Nets Arena, if built will be a sports arena, not a mixed use housing/commercial development. The Atlantic Yards is the whole development, including the arena. The arena alone should be treated like all other stadiums and arenas listed on Wikipedia past, present and future, with its own standalone article. Milchama 01:06, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
To be named by Barclay's Bank
editIt was announced in the New York newspapers, that the new arena will be named by Barclay's Bank. user:mnw2000 20:37, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- No, it was reported that it will be called Barclays Center. The name, however, has not be officially confirmed yet. Milchama 12:38, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- There are no other "Barclays Center"s anywhere. Why is (Brooklyn) in the article name? It should be moved to Barclays Center. (edit: yes, Barclays Center is the official name: LA Times) (NY Times) (Bloomberg)) --Zimbabweed 20:09, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- Because the person who originally "moved" the article copied the content of Brooklyn Nets Arena into the Barclays Center article, and deleted the original article, replacing it with a redirect, not keeping the edit history intact. The Barclays Center (Brooklyn) article is a temporary name until an admin can correctly move it. Milchama 20:14, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Second CENTER?
editThere is a third center in the NYC metro area. The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is situated in Flushing Meadow. If the paragraph is meant to say, that the Barclays Center is the second NEW sports venue with the term center in the area, then say NEW. However, why is the word center so important? Wouldn't it be more interesting to state that the Barclay's Center is one of five sports venues under construction in the area? (Red Bull Park, Prudential Center, Barclay's Center, Citi Field, the New Yankees Stadium). user:mnw2000 20:17, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- The tennis center is NOT a major league sports arena. It is not a corporate named building that hosts an NBA or NHL franchise (as opposed to arena, colesium, garden, fieldhouse, etc.). Milchama 20:41, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well that is rather arbitrary. It is a sports venue and it is called center. user:mnw2000 02:39, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, whether they are called "centers" or not is pretty irrelevant. There is nothing to distinguish a "center" from an "arena" or anything else you listed in this context. Is there some kind of point you are trying to make beyond "people keep calling stuff in NY centers"? Recury 20:28, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Falling Apart?
editThis section is written like an editorial in some random newspaper. It probably wouldn't hurt to delete that whole second paragraph, would it? Kjscotte34 (talk) 11:50, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
AGREED!
Evident Bias
edit"Unfortunately, what Brooklyn deserves and will not get is world class architecture."
Let's at least try to pretend that this is neutral... TJohnson (talk) 21:06, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Hockey
editUm, exactly where does it say that the Islanders definitely wouldn't be moving there due to the size of the arena floor? In the Daily News this week, there was a supplement about the arena that specifically said "hockey games will be played here". I'm deleting that un-sourced line. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.77.242.236 (talk) 17:52, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
IMHO, something should be mentioned about this as being a possible home for the Islanders. ATM, they seem to be staying put, but you can only renovate that stadium for so long. If no one relocates the team elsewhere, and their is a chance someone might as their are options out their like Kansas City with it's new arena, this arena seems like the logical choice to move the team too. I doubt they will not make this arena w/o the ability to hold a hockey team from the NHL or a minor league like the ECHL and AHL, cuz it would be a money maker for anyone that owns the center.--184.77.10.72 (talk) 05:30, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
I want to know how many seats can the Barclays Center can hold with a NHL rink. I also believe the arena can hold a NHL size rink. Its 2011, the arena should be able to NHL rink. I actually think Islanders will move to Brooklyn because The Lighthouse Project is alot of money & its take 8-10 years to make. So in 2015, I can except the Islanders in Brooklyn. I hope Islanders dont leave New York, Too much history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.97.182.80 (talk) 07:35, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
The Islanders may move to Brooklyn, however this should not be in the infobox until an announcement is made saying so. It is appropriate to have a discussion of the Islanders in the article, however as long as the information is from a reliable source. Also I don't believe one preseason game is enough to have them be called a tenant. The Islanders have played a few preseason games in other places, like Bridgeport, but I don't think that makes them a tenant of the Webster Bank Arena. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ObieGrad (talk • contribs) 21:46, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed, and I've revered it again.
- As for making Brooklyn a permanent home, to answer the above older questions, the issue isn't just seating capacity for hockey, it's the seating configuration. The Barclays Center design is similar to the arenas in Indianapolis, Charlotte and San Antonio (which were also designed by the same architectural firm) in having an off-center ice surface, that is the center of the basketball court and the center of the ice rink are not the same spot as they are at dual NHL–NBA arenas like the Garden or Pridential Center. (The original Frank Gerhy design did have such, but it was deemed too expensive to actually build.) While considered fine for ice shows or minor league hockey, and a non-factor for concerts, there's questions as to it's suitability for the NHL. Plus the capacity would be the smallest in the NHL. That's the issue the Islanders are really dealing with. oknazevad (talk) 22:38, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Let's not forget the position of the scoreboards SUCKS! for a hockey game!--Subman758 (talk) 16:15, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
Ellerbe Becket's other work
editDo we really need nine examples of their other arena work? I cut it down, although anyone if free to change in one for another if it shows the variety of work they have done. thanks--Aichikawa (talk) 01:43, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
- They might not even want to take the credit/blame for this hideous piece-of-crap.--172.190.132.46 (talk) 05:29, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
Notable firsts
editObviously, if Coldplay performed on December 30, 2012, December 31, 2012 is NOT the first time since September 2005 that they've played in NYC.

Propose Concert List
editThought this would be an interesting idea, as a few other sports stadiums in America list them. However, the list would be quite long, so perhaps create a new page on concerts that have happened, and then add an link of said page here? Cahlin29 (talk) 05:57, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
