First Citation Note
editI think the problem with statement "Doctrinally, Pearson was very orthodox in his beliefs, although his preaching style was described as very animated and charismatic" is too vague to provide proper citation since it is not clear what is meant by "very orthodox." Is it a reference to his "Gospelof Inclusion" or it is a reference to something about the author's understanding of evangelical theology? chemica 17:45, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Needs a picture
editThis would be a great picture, but I can't figure out how to contact the photographer. I'm going to look for a publicity photo for now and go with fair use until we can get something under a free license. — Coelacan | talk 04:20, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- The photographer, Scott Griessel, has made several photos of Bishop Pearson available under the CC-BY-SA license so that we can use them here. (Thanks Scott!) The article's not very long right now, but when there's room for more photos, they can be found at [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] (last one already in use here). — coelacan talk — 22:20, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Links for mining
editHere are some links I've found that are probably worth mining and referencing: [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] — Coelacan | talk 06:55, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
bio stuff
editThanks to an anonymous user who added Bishop Pearson's birthdate and parents' names (thanks anonymous!), I was able to find a biography in the Internet Archive of the old Higher Dimensions site. When you get to that page, you have to use your browser's "view source" function, because it won't show up automatically (at least it didn't for me). Here's a sample of what it says: he's the fifth child of Adam Louis Pearson and Lillian ("Lillie"} Ruth Johnson Pearson, he was born in San Diego, California on March 19, 1953. (I got the "Lillian" from the CD notes of "Best Of Azusa...Yet Holdin' On") He was licensed as a preacher at the age of fifteen by Bishop J.A. Blake of "Jackson Memorial Church of God in Christ", and he was ordained by that prelate in the summer of 1971. It says he is "a fourth generation classical Pentecostal preacher," but I don't know precisely what that means; was his great-grandfather a preacher or is this some other line of succession? Anyway the bio goes on and on. Some of it would be good for the article but I'm leaving it alone for now. I took his place of birth and parents' names out of the intro as it breaks up the flow. If we do a more detailed bio for the first section after the intro, then we could include that stuff. — coelacan talk — 01:49, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
The page says that Pearson was born in Oklahoma, but i'm quite sure he's from CA. this is an error. Nathanattwood (talk) 22:26, 4 March 2008 (UTC)Nathan Attwood
Carlton_D'Metrius_Pearson universalism universal reconciliation Unitarian-Universalism agnosticism ignosticism
editI fail to comprehend why this article seems to claim that this is so shockingly new. I, also, fail to comprehend why msnbc, [as well as Christian News Network, Time-Warner,] & inumerable other networks seem to think that this is controversy. The networks & wiki should report it to say that millions of Christians are tricked to think that this had not occurred millions of times in the past several millennia. It has so much so that it is the early roots of Unitarian-Universalism, which has, now, evolved such that many Unitarian-Universalists have rejected both theism & atheism, as offensive. Those of us of that opinion would frequently declare ourselves as [devoutly] agnostic|ignostic.
Please do distinguish between heresy, hysteria, history, & heritage. Presenting hysteria as though it were history is, simply, not the best manner to present history. The concept heresy, is hysteria.

This article continues to read as if there is something new here; it is not.

- What??? To answer you, it MAY have been new to the secular media, but not in Christian circles. Charisma magazine broke the story in May 2002; so his erroneous position has been known in the Christian community (for the most part) for the last 5 1/2 years. Hope that cleared this up. That does clarify something; but, not what I'd noted. @ all.
How is it that this article, & various similar articles, could treat this dispute as new?
Six months, six years, fifteen years, twenty years, all new.
A millennium? New. As this debate might have also been w/ "Hey, Zeus, --Christ", himself,....... two millennia ago. If not, then, likely, in the first few years subsequent of his death.
Further, variations of this theme are of earliest Judaic dispute, five to seven millennia ago.
Mister Pearson has merely joined a line of many millions of persons, billions, possibly. He is some six point five, or so, years older; yet, I, raised U. U., was there long ago.
He did not invent doubting Hell; he's not the first to heave Heaven.
This is, simply, not new.
Thank You,

Birthplace Inconsistency
editMr Pearson's info box says he was born in Oklahoma, while the beginning of the article says San Diego. Which is it?
Mcculloughsean (talk) 18:21, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
he's from california originally, according to This American Life.
More about singing career, Kathy Lee Gifford?
editApparently he and [Kathy_Lee_Gifford] were in a singing group together at ORU?

editI think he is right and if anyone read the whole bible the way it was written they would see that he is right. God is whole and complete, LOVE. And God doesn't practice tough love. That is a man made concept.70.234.145.144 (talk) 01:08, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
